The Netherlands is prepared to suspend its powers over the Chinese-owned chipmaker Nexperia in a move aimed at de-escalating tensions with Beijing. This development comes amid concerns that the ongoing dispute could disrupt automotive production around the world.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the Dutch government is ready to shelve the ministerial order that grants it the authority to block or alter key corporate decisions at Nexperia. This suspension is contingent on China allowing the export of its critical chips once again.
This potential compromise highlights the strategic importance of semiconductor supply chains and the delicate balancing act governments must perform to maintain both national security and global trade stability.
