3 players for watch out for in IND-A vs SA-A 1st Unofficial Test 2025 ft. Rishabh Pant

India ‘A’ vs South Africa ‘A’: First Unofficial Test Underway in Bengaluru

India ‘A’ is set to take on South Africa ‘A’ in a two-match unofficial Test series ahead of the Proteas’ upcoming tour of the subcontinent. The first first-class game kicked off on Thursday, October 30, at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named a strong squad across both matches, with most of the main Test squad members expected to feature in the second game.

In the opening Test, India ‘A’ won the toss and elected to bowl first. Anshul Kamboj provided an early breakthrough for the home side, putting the visitors on the back foot. However, South Africa ‘A’ have recovered well and currently stand at 153 for 2 in 39 overs, aiming to dominate the opening day’s play.

3 Players to Watch Out For in India ‘A’ vs South Africa ‘A’ – 1st Unofficial Test 2025

1. Rishabh Pant

The star wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant is making a much-anticipated return to competitive cricket after recovering from a foot fracture sustained during the fourth Test against England in the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Pant not only returns to play but also leads the India ‘A’ team as they prepare for the upcoming home series against South Africa.

India ‘A’ batter Sai Sudharsan recently praised Pant’s fitness, stating he looks fitter than ever, which adds to the excitement around his comeback. Given his full recovery, Pant is expected to be an automatic pick for the senior Test squad. It will be interesting to see how quickly he sheds any rustiness.

Notably, Pant’s last significant injury layoff was due to a car accident, after which he quickly regained form, enjoying a stellar 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season and earning a spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup squad.

2. Rajat Patidar

Rajat Patidar, the flamboyant middle-order batter, is steadily climbing the ranks thanks to his recent consistent performances. He could soon break into the Indian middle-order if he maintains his form and a vacancy arises.

Patidar’s recent exploits include two centuries leading the Central Zone to victory in the 2025 Duleep Trophy and a fifty in the first innings of the Irani Trophy for the Rest of India team. He also kicked off his Ranji Trophy season with a commanding unbeaten century.

Coming into the India ‘A’ setup in such rich red-ball form, Patidar is definitely one of the players to keep an eye on against South Africa ‘A’. With India still debating the middle-order spots—contested by players like Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal—Patidar could strengthen his claim with another solid showing in the upcoming matches.

3. Ayush Mhatre

Mumbai youngster Ayush Mhatre has fast-tracked his way into the India youth setup following an impressive 2025 IPL campaign with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). At just 18 years old, Mhatre has captained the India U-19 side on tours to England and Australia.

While he has had moments of inconsistency, Mhatre has compiled two hundreds and a fifty in his last 10 outings for India’s youth teams. Recently, he featured in Mumbai’s 2025-26 Ranji Trophy opener against Jammu and Kashmir, contributing useful cameos but missing the chance to build a big innings.

This match marks Mhatre’s debut in India ‘A’ colors, and it will be exciting to see how he performs against experienced bowlers like Tshepo Moreki, Lutho Sipamla, and Prenelan Subrayen, all of whom have international cricket experience.

Stay tuned for more updates as the unofficial Test series between India ‘A’ and South Africa ‘A’ unfolds.

Cardiff City star Callum Robinson who has 5 goals in 3 games against Chelsea reacts to facing Blues in EFL Cup quarter-finals

Cardiff City striker Callum Robinson has expressed his excitement about facing Chelsea after both teams were drawn against each other in the EFL Cup quarterfinals.

The Blues secured their place in the last eight of the competition following a nervy 4-3 win over Wolves, while Cardiff overcame Wrexham. Chelsea will face third-tier Cardiff City, avoiding Premier League opposition at this stage, as they compete for a spot in the semi-finals.

“Chelsea it is 👀👀😂😂😂,” Robinson posted on social media, highlighting his enthusiasm for the upcoming fixture.

Robinson boasts an exceptional record against Chelsea throughout his career, having represented West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United, and Aston Villa against the Blues. Remarkably, the striker has yet to taste defeat in three appearances against Chelsea, scoring five times across his various teams.

His first encounter with Chelsea came as an Aston Villa player during the 2013-14 season, although he remained on the bench during a 1-0 victory. Robinson played against Chelsea for the first time on the pitch in the 2019-20 season, scoring as Sheffield United held the Blues to a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

The following season, now with West Bromwich Albion, Robinson scored a brace in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Frank Lampard’s Chelsea. He repeated this feat against Thomas Tuchel’s side—the future UEFA Champions League winners—scoring twice in a memorable 5-2 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca’s Cardiff City will aim to be the first Blues team to hand Callum Robinson a defeat. The team will also face another familiar face in loanee Omari Kellyman, who could receive special permission to play against his parent club in the upcoming game.

### 10-man Chelsea Defeat Wolves in EFL Cup Thriller

Chelsea edged out Wolves 4-3 in their EFL Cup last-16 clash at the Molineux despite being reduced to ten men.

The Blues claimed their quarterfinal spot after overcoming Premier League opposition in a dramatic encounter. Enzo Maresca’s side took an early three-goal lead thanks to efforts from Andrey Santos, Tyrique George, and Estevao Willian.

However, Wolves mounted a fierce comeback with goals from Tolu Arokodare and David Moller Wolfe early in the second half. Chelsea were further challenged when Liam Delap, returning from a two-month layoff, was sent off for two bookable offences.

Despite being a man down, Chelsea found a fourth goal through Jamie Gittens before conceding again to Wolfe. They held on through a late Wolves onslaught to secure their place in the last eight of the competition.

The upcoming clash between Chelsea and Cardiff City promises to be an intriguing encounter, with Callum Robinson eager to extend his unbeaten run against the Blues and both teams vying for a place in the semi-finals.

“That just got him off” – Former India bowler on Suryakumar Yadav’s knock in AUS vs IND 2025 1st T20I

Former India seamer Varun Aaron has opined that Suryakumar Yadav’s knock in the first T20I against Australia would give him a lot of confidence. He noted that the unconventional batter’s six off Josh Hazlewood’s bowling provided the required momentum.

Suryakumar scored an unbeaten 39 off 24 deliveries in the first T20I between India and Australia played in Canberra on Wednesday, October 29. However, the match ended without a result as rain interrupted play when India were 97/1 in 9.4 overs after being asked to bat first.

During an interaction on the Star Sports show ‘Follow the Blues,’ Aaron was asked about his thoughts on Suryakumar’s innings in the game. He said,
“I think this will give him a lot of confidence. No matter how big a batter you are, we saw it with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the ODI series — even with almost 15,000 ODI runs, when you don’t get runs, you suddenly feel like you can’t hit a single boundary. Suryakumar was averaging 11 before he came into this innings, and he has batted just like Suryakumar Yadav.”

Aaron further highlighted the significance of Suryakumar’s first shot off Hazlewood, adding,
“That first shot against Josh Hazlewood was just a statement shot because the previous ball, most batsmen after getting a ball like that, to which he was beaten all ends up, would be a bit cautious and try and take a safe route. But Suryakumar Yadav did what he does best. That was an unbelievable six. That just got him off.”

Aaron also lamented how rain played spoilsport as Suryakumar seemed on course for a big score while targeting Nathan Ellis in the tenth over. The Indian captain had already smashed the Aussie seamer for two fours and a six off the first three balls of that over.

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel also shared his thoughts on Star Sports, focusing on Suryakumar’s footwork after the six off Hazlewood.
“When you get one of your favorite shots at the start, which Suryakumar got here, the shot he played off Hazlewood’s bowling, after that, although no runs came off two balls, it seemed like the footwork had almost returned. The surety was being seen in the footwork,” he said.

Parthiv added that the defensive field settings by Australian bowler Matthew Kuhnemann also worked in Suryakumar’s favour.
“After that, when Kuhnemann came to bowl, he hadn’t bowled even his first ball and had kept the cover fielder back. It means the thought process was defensive. When such big players know that the bowler is bowling only with a defensive thought process, then you can attack,” observed Parthiv.

To conclude, Parthiv expressed surprise at Australia’s game plan against Suryakumar Yadav. He pointed out that the hosts kept two fielders in the deep on the leg side and bowled on the Indian captain’s legs, noting that boundary dimensions don’t matter much when the ball is played in that area.

Austin Reaves drops humble admission after game-winner vs. Timberwolves

The Los Angeles Lakers’ current two-game road trip got off to a thrilling start after Austin Reaves sank a game-winner to bury the Minnesota Timberwolves, 116-115. The shot capped off what’s been a massive week for Reaves, beginning with his career-high 51 points he dropped on the Sacramento Kings last Sunday in a win.

Following the win against the Timberwolves, Austin Reaves remained humble when speaking about the game-winner and his hectic week so far, as per ESPN.

“I’m still not gonna talk about myself,” Reaves said. “It’s fun, I love to play the game of basketball. Obviously I wouldn’t be able to do any of it without our coaching staff believing in me, the players believing in me, and just having so much joy playing basketball. It’s fun. Just guys stepping up after people going down, it’s big.”

The Lakers have dealt with major injury issues to start the year, beginning with LeBron James’ season debut delayed due to a nerve injury. Matters were made worse when it was announced that Luka Dončić would be sidelined for at least one week as he battles both a finger and a leg injury.

But with the Lakers’ star duo sidelined, Reaves has made the case that it should be a star trio instead. Following his 51 points against the Kings, he dropped 41 points in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers as the Lakers were extremely short-handed. And then came the game-winner against the Timberwolves.

Lakers head coach JJ Redick has mentioned how one of the ways in which he challenged Reaves was to take on more of a leadership role. He’s made it a point to convey to Reaves that this team is as much his as it is James’ or Dončić’s.

After the Lakers grabbed the win against the Wolves, Redick explained why he has unwavering confidence in Reaves, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

“That guy is going to show up in the big moments,” Redick said. “Not surprised. He’s done that many times in his career, he’s done many times since I’ve been his coach. I feel very comfortable with him making decisions in late game.”

Reaves had appeared in all four of the Lakers’ games this season coming into Wednesday’s matchup against the Wolves. He had been averaging 35.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and 1.8 steals with shooting splits of 57.3 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three-point range, and 88.2 percent from the free-throw line. He also was leading the league in free-throw attempts at 12.8 per game.

This offseason is shaping up to be a big one for Reaves, as he can opt out of his contract and become an unrestricted free agent. Reaves turned down a contract extension from the Lakers this past offseason, but that does not necessarily mean he won’t be in purple and gold for years to come. Financially, it’s better for him to opt out and re-sign on a longer deal with the Lakers once the season is over.

If he keeps up this level of play, an All-Star appearance might be in the not-so-distant future.
