Florida gas prices rose 12 cents last week

Florida gas prices were on the decline before suddenly rising last week. The state average for a gallon of gas peaked at $2. 96, up from starting at $2. 84, according to AA The Auto Club Group. The new price is 6. 5 cents higher than a week ago, 5 cents lower than last month and 21 cents lower than this time last year. “Florida gas prices continue fluctuating on a weekly basis,” said spokesman Mark Jenkins. “Last week, the state average rebounded after dropping 13 cents in 9 days. Fortunately, pump prices remain on the low end of what drivers have paid this year.” The most expensive metro markets are in West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3. 09), Gainesville ($2. 98) and Naples ($2. 97). The least expensive metro markets are in Pensacola ($2. 73), Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($2. 74) and Panama City ($2. 77).
