Southern California man gets an unwanted housemate: A black bear in his crawl space

A bear in Southern California has taken up residence in the crawlspace under a man’s home.

Ken Johnson of Altadena shared that he recorded footage of the bear emerging from beneath his house on Tuesday. Concerned about recent damage in the crawlspace, Ken had installed a camera months ago, but no animals appeared on the footage until recently.

This incident follows a pattern observed after the devastating Eaton Fire in January. At least two bears were found seeking refuge under evacuated homes in Altadena. State officials managed to lure one of the bears out using a bear trap and safely released it into the Angeles National Forest.
