Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, recently opened up about his directorial debut, *The Ba***ds of Bollywood*. In a candid conversation with *Variety*, he shared insights into how the team struck a balance between humor and respect for the film industry.

“We wanted to be self-deprecating but not disrespectful anywhere,” Aryan explained. “I think we maintained that line correctly.”

**Tone and Genre: Guardrails on Humor**

Discussing the show’s tone, Aryan elaborated, “We had guardrails about the tone. Are we that show which goes into constantly spoofy slapstick genre? Perhaps not. Do we have spoofy and slapstick moments? Yes. But is that serious or is that a joke? It’s bending many genres and merging many things.”

He described the series as “a family drama at its core,” emphasizing that emotion remains central to the storytelling.

**Scenes Inspired by Reality**

Aryan admitted that some scenes are drawn from real-life incidents. “What is interesting about the show is, in Bollywood, there are many truths, many lies, that kind of are disguised… and it’s just the novelty of that entices audiences,” he said. “We were pushing it for screen, obviously, but there’ll be scenes that are inspired by realities, and there’ll be exaggerations.”

He revealed that the team did receive notes regarding certain scenes—some considered “too much” in one direction—but he stood firm on their creative choices.
