Nolan Pomerleau dashed around right end for a 15-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, giving Massabesic an early lead in their Class A South football regular-season finale against Sanford on Thursday night.

Cameron Bourque’s successful extra point ultimately proved to be the difference, securing a 7-6 victory for Massabesic, who improved their record to 3-6.

Sanford answered back early in the fourth quarter with a 44-yard touchdown run by Jayden Franco. However, the Spartans fell short on their 2-point conversion attempt, which would have tied the game.

With this win, Massabesic held on to claim the victory in a closely contested matchup. Sanford finished the season with a 2-7 record.
