76ers’ Joel Embiid listed day-to-day with knee injury

The Philadelphia 76ers, as long as Joel Embiid is on the roster, will always be in pursuit of a championship. Their 7-4 start to the season is impressive, especially considering Embiid has yet to go full-tilt since the campaign began, with the team still carefully managing his workload.

Embiid was noticeably absent during the Sixers’ 102-100 win over the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, as Philadelphia reported he’s experiencing soreness in his right knee. Up until now, Embiid had been sitting out the second game of back-to-back sets all season, but otherwise had been available. This made his absence on Tuesday night even more conspicuous.

The good news, according to Shams Charania of ESPN, is that Embiid’s right knee was evaluated after the game, and the team found no structural issues. He’s currently considered day-to-day moving forward.

The schedule is also working in the 76ers’ favor. After dealing with a few back-to-backs over the first few weeks of the season, the Sixers now have only two games this week: the recently-concluded matchup against the Celtics, and an NBA In-Season Tournament clash against the surging Detroit Pistons on Friday. This lighter schedule should give Embiid plenty of time to rest and recover from his knee soreness.

Given Embiid’s extensive injury history, the 76ers are understandably cautious about rushing him back. Protecting their star is a priority if they want to sustain their championship hopes.

“I hadn’t shaved in like three to four months going into nationals. I mean, it was bad. It was really bad,” he admitted. “So [in the pool] I went 1:57 in a full beard, and when I shaved my body and my face I went 1:52.”

Michael caused a stir when he was seen wearing a man bun and a beard at the 2024 Paris Olympics. One user on X commented that he was “one of the few men who can pull off a man bun.” Another chimed in, “Michael Phelps with a beard is something I did not know I needed,” while a third added, “Michael Phelps has gold medal hair.”
