PennWest Cal Hosts Holiday Drives Throughout Campus

As the holidays approach, many families face the stress of providing food, clothing, and gifts for their loved ones. Relief may come from community partners, food banks, and often, donation drives. Senior Ahmiya Edwards, a Psychology major, has started a “stay warm” drive, collecting coats, socks, gloves, hats, scarves, and throw blankets. “I chose to donate these items to the Light of Life Rescue Mission,” Edwards said. “I’ve spread the word on my social media and talked about how everyone needs a little help and that helping people changes you for the better,” she said. Edwards felt she was called to help this holiday season. “Many people can’t provide for themselves, and I feel that my role on this earth is to help those who are struggling. (I saw) families out in the cold with not really a lot of things that can keep them warm,” she said. She also acknowledged that members of her own college community may be struggling. “Anyone on campus can feel free to take what they need if they’re in need of it,” Edwards added. Although Edwards is graduating, “I do plan to make this an annual thing; I will be doing it in my hometown, but I will also be recruiting a freshman to continue it on campus,” she said. “My goal is to make it a foundation so it can be expanded in the future.” The warm clothes drive will be running until the end of the fall semester (Dec. 12), and people will be able to drop donations in boxes in the lobbies of all four dorm buildings. “I feel it’s important for students to donate during the holiday season because most of us can give back and keep people warm,” Edwards said. Edwards isn’t the only one collecting donations several other PennWest California clubs and organizations are offering drives for students and faculty to donate to.

Kentucky and Louisville players exchange words ahead of rivalry game

The Battle of the Bluegrass is already heating up days before the No. 9 Kentucky Wildcats and No. 11 Louisville Cardinals tip off.

Following Louisville’s win over Jackson State on Thursday, forward Kasean Pryor ended his press conference with a pointed message for his team’s cross-state rival.

“We’ll see you guys on Tuesday. After a win. F*** them,” Pryor said as he was leaving the media room.

After Kentucky’s 107-59 victory over Valparaiso on Friday night, Wildcat players were asked to respond to Pryor’s comments. Brandon Garrison, who had a heated exchange in last year’s game, acknowledged he heard the remarks but is focused on maintaining his composure.

“Yeah, I did,” Garrison replied. “But we ain’t paying much mind. They just over there talking, doing what they do. We all got to keep our heads, because I was one of them who kinda lost mine last year. So learning from that.”

Kentucky prefers to “chirp after the win.” Freshman center Malachi Moreno, a Kentucky native, took a diplomatic approach, stating the team is blocking out external distractions to prevent any bulletin board material.

“We don’t pay attention to outside noise. We’re just keeping everything in-house and we’re just prepping to be ready for Tuesday,” Moreno said.

Guard Jaland Lowe, however, met the comment with the same energy it was delivered.

“I mean, that’s cool. They gonna talk. It’s a rivalry, you want that,” Lowe said. “That’s what makes it fun. By all means, they can chirp, and I think we’ll save our chirping during the game and after the game, when we win. We’ll just leave it at that.”

The two top-15 programs will meet at the KFC Yum! Center on Tuesday night in one of the most anticipated matchups of the rivalry in recent years.

“There are 2 zeroes, all he has to do is add the 1 on the side” – Former India coach on Virat Kohli ahead of AUS vs IND 2025 3rd ODI

Former India coach Abhishek Nayar has suggested that Virat Kohli could bounce back from two ducks in the ongoing ODI series against Australia with a century in the final game. However, he acknowledged that the former India captain would need to show grit and determination to overcome his disappointing start to the tour.

Kohli was dismissed for a four-ball duck in India’s narrow two-wicket loss in the second ODI in Adelaide on Thursday, October 23. During an interaction on the Star Sports show *Game Plan*, Nayar noted that luck hasn’t favored Kohli so far in the series but emphasized that the modern batting great has the potential to turn things around with a century in the final game in Sydney on Saturday, October 25.

“You always say you need the rub of the green. He has not had it yet. That doesn’t mean he can’t. There are two zeroes, all he has to do is add the one on the side. It will take a lot of grit and determination from him, but those are stories,” Nayar said.

The former India all-rounder also highlighted Kohli’s ability to bounce back from failures in the past. “A Virat Kohli doesn’t become a Virat Kohli without overcoming failures. He has done that in the past. He has struggled in England. He has gone back and conquered it. He has got one more game to conquer his demons, but if there is someone whom I would rely and bet on, that would be Virat,” Nayar added.

### Virat Kohli’s ODI Record at Sydney Cricket Ground

It’s worth noting that Virat Kohli does not have a stellar ODI record at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). He has scored 146 runs across seven ODIs at the venue, averaging just 24.33.

### Analysis of Kohli’s Dismissal in 2nd ODI

In the same interaction, Abhishek Nayar analyzed Kohli’s dismissal in the second ODI, describing it as falling prey to a ‘terrific’ delivery.

“To be honest, regardless of seeing Virat getting out or not, I just feel this was a terrific delivery. I think most batters in the world, who have studied his bowling and understand him, wouldn’t expect that delivery because even the way he released it, the seam position suggested the ball would leave him,” Nayar explained.

He further elaborated that most batters would have struggled against the delivery bowled by Xavier Bartlett, especially since the ball appeared to move away due to the seam position.

“Virat has always been someone who looks at the seam a lot. So he tries to pick the ball off the hand and off the seam. Just looking at the slow motion, you see the ball and you feel the ball is going to leave you, which is why he has taken that position. The ball pitches, it hits the other side of the seam, and nips back in. Most batters will struggle with that,” Nayar observed.

Kohli had initially left the first two deliveries outside the off-stump before defending the third ball. He missed the fourth ball while attempting to play across the line and was caught plumb in front of the wickets.

Commanders QB Jayden Daniels Owns Fumble: ‘It Was On Me… We’ve Got to Be Better’

Jayden Daniels Faced Tough Questions Earlier This Season About Knee Injury

Jayden Daniels faced tough questions earlier this season about his lingering knee injury. By Monday night, those concerns were gone, replaced by new scrutiny over a costly late-game turnover. Daniels fumbled in the final minutes against the Chicago Bears, setting up a comeback loss for the Washington Commanders.

This week, he didn’t dodge responsibility. He took ownership of the mistake and shifted the focus toward improvement in Week 7. “But it was on me. So I take accountability,” Daniels said.

Jayden Daniels Reflects on Turnover and Slow Starts

Aside from the turnover, Daniels’ performance against Chicago was his strongest of the year. He threw three touchdown passes, overcoming an early interception, and looked like the player Washington expected when he returned from his knee issue. That’s why both he and the team want to make sure the fumble becomes just a footnote to a solid outing.

“We feel we can put up points,” Daniels said. “But we just got to be better with the details and execution, so we don’t have slow starts.”

Slow starts have been an ongoing problem for the Commanders. They’ve trailed by double digits in the first half of each of their last three games and have been outscored 36-14 in the opening quarter so far in the 2025 season. Daniels played only in the most recent game but acknowledged that the offense must set the tone early if Washington wants to stay competitive in the NFC.

Commanders Look to Bounce Back Against Cowboys

The Commanders have an opportunity to turn things around in Week 7 against the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas ranks last in yards allowed, passing yards allowed, and third-down defense through six weeks, which could give Washington’s offense the chance to get into rhythm quickly.

Washington also received good news on Wednesday. Wide receiver Terry McLaurin returned to practice after missing time with a quadriceps injury. A return this weekend would give Daniels a significant boost.

However, the team suffered another setback at the same position. ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported, “Commanders placed WR Noah Brown on injured reserve, sidelining him for a minimum of four games.”

Fan Reactions

Fans immediately reacted to the news on social media. One fan wrote, “Hopefully Terry McLaurin can come back this week. They really need him.” Another added, “Tough break for the Commanders. Noah Brown was just starting to find rhythm in that offense. They’ll miss his physicality and reliability on third downs.”

Looking Ahead

The Commanders know the margin for error is shrinking. Daniels’ positive showing against Chicago gave them reason for optimism, but cleaning up execution and avoiding early deficits will be critical if they want to stay in the playoff race.

“We’ve got to be more consistent as a team—offense, defense, special teams,” Daniels emphasized.

The Commanders face the Cowboys on Sunday, October 19, at 4:25 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The game will air on FOX.
