NJ weather: Weekend starts cool, rain showers on the way

No Weather Surprises for This Fabulous Friday

While we can expect a mostly uneventful Friday weather-wise, a chance of rain is on the horizon for the middle of the weekend. Friday will be another breezy and cool day, with increasing clouds and the possibility of a flurry or a light sprinkle. High temperatures will reach around 50 degrees.

### Friday Weather Overview

Friday morning starts off quite cold, with temperatures in the 20s and 30s across most of New Jersey. Highs will climb to about 50 degrees in the afternoon, which is slightly cooler than Thursday but still within the cool side of normal. Winds will be breezy, with gusts up to 20 mph.

We can expect widespread sunshine during the morning hours, helping to ease the morning chill. However, clouds will begin to increase gradually through the afternoon. There is a slight chance of a flurry in North Jersey and a few sprinkles possible in South Jersey late in the day. Friday night will stay chilly, with lows in the mid-30s.

### Saturday Weather: Cloudy, Cold, and Wet

Saturday will be a colder and cloudier day, with highs in the upper 40s and relatively light winds. Skies will turn mostly cloudy or overcast, limiting any sunshine during the day. While the daytime hours will remain dry, wet weather moves in late Saturday.

The weekend storm system will bring warmer air into New Jersey, so expect rain rather than wintry precipitation. The first raindrops are likely around sunset Saturday, primarily affecting the nighttime hours with scattered showers continuing through the overnight. There may be some thunder, but no significant severe weather is anticipated.

### Sunday Weather: Transition from Wet to Dry, Mild to Cold

Showers will clear out by mid-morning Sunday at the latest, followed by quickly clearing skies. Temperatures will reach a mild high near 60 degrees in the morning. However, this warmth won’t last long.

A brisk wind will sweep colder air into the region Sunday afternoon, with gusts potentially reaching 40 mph. As a result, temperatures will tumble as the day progresses.

### Monday and Beyond: Chilly and Quiet

The weekend’s weather changes will bring us back to chilly but calm conditions starting Monday. Expect partly sunny skies with continued breezy conditions and highs in the mid to upper 40s.

Tuesday and Wednesday should be bright and calm, with temperatures near 50 degrees. No significant warmups, cold snaps, or winter storms are expected in New Jersey through midweek.

Despite the cooler and breezy weather, the forecast shows a typical spring transition with a bit of moisture midweek and a return to calm, chilly conditions afterward. Stay prepared for occasional gusty winds and keep an eye on those weekend rain showers!
