CBS News to Overhaul Saturday Morning Show After Paramount Layoffs

CBS News’ Saturday morning broadcast will look less distinct from the rest of the division’s morning-news programming, according to a person familiar with the matter. This change follows layoffs across parent corporation Paramount Global that were unveiled Wednesday.

The layoffs will also impact CBS News operations in South Africa. The bureau in Johannesburg will be closing, with oversight of the region shifting to London, the source said.

Additionally, CBS News will cancel two companion programs tied to the weekday shows “CBS Evening News” and “CBS Mornings.” These programs primarily appeared on CBS News’ streaming platforms.
