The Pittsburgh Steelers have ruled out three key defenders ahead of their pivotal Week 11 divisional matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Inside linebacker Cole Holcomb, outside linebacker Alex Highsmith, and cornerback Darius Slay will all miss Sunday’s game.
According to Friday’s injury report, Holcomb (illness) and Highsmith (pectoral) did not participate in practice, while Slay (concussion) was a limited participant. Despite some practice involvement, Slay remains in concussion protocol and will not play.
Holcomb has been sidelined for the past two games due to his mysterious illness. Both Highsmith and Slay sustained their injuries in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Steelers boast strong depth at inside and outside linebacker, but they remain extremely thin at cornerback. Currently, Joey Porter Jr., Brandin Echols, and James Pierre are the only available options at cornerback on the 53-man roster ahead of the crucial divisional clash.
