Adjusters inspect remnants of Heat coach Erik Spoelstra’s Coral Gables-area home destroyed in fire amid probe

**Miami Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra’s Coral Gables Home Destroyed in Massive Fire**

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) — Insurance adjusters were seen inspecting the charred remains of Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra’s multimillion-dollar home near Coral Gables, just a day after it was destroyed in a devastating fire.

7News cameras captured the adjusters heading inside the property on Friday morning. The home is located near Southwest 49th Avenue and 80th Street in the Ponce-Davis neighborhood. Outside the residence, a Florida Highway Patrol cruiser was parked as officials conducted their assessment.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom residence burst into flames early Thursday morning. Radio transmissions from first responders captured a firefighter reporting, “A single family home. We’ve got fire in the back.”

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Victoria Byrd addressed reporters after daybreak, describing the severity of the blaze. “We found fire that was as tall as the trees,” she said.

7News cameras also captured Coach Spoelstra watching helplessly as his home was consumed by flames. At the time, Spoelstra was flying back to South Florida with the team after their game against the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.

Dozens of Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighters battled the blaze for hours. Battalion Chief Byrd highlighted the challenges they faced. “Due to the privacy wall and a lot of the tree cover, it was very difficult to access, with only one point of entry,” she explained.

Thanks to the crews’ efforts, the fire was contained and did not spread to nearby homes along Southwest 80th Street. “We used multiple aerial apparatuses, fire engines, and rescues to help combat this incident,” Byrd added.

7Skyforce aerial footage captured the aftermath, showing flames that had gutted most of the structure.

Spoelstra purchased the one-acre property in 2023 for $6.6 million. Neighbors told 7News that he had since renovated the house, which spans more than 5,700 square feet and includes amenities such as a pool, outdoor kitchen, and tennis courts.

Just two weeks ago, Spoelstra had invited his team over for a barbecue. The Miami Heat posted a video showing players using the grill and playing soccer on the property.

Now, the home has been reduced to soot and ash and has officially been declared a total loss.

Despite this personal tragedy, Spoelstra is expected to coach as the Heat host the Charlotte Hornets at the Kaseya Center Friday night.

‘Unwell’ Trump openly flaunts plan to ‘rig the 2026 midterms’ after losses

“Daily Blast” podcast host Greg Sargent says President Donald Trump is “unraveling” following Tuesday’s election losses, with the former president blaming his own party for losing seats.

“President Trump’s excuses for his party’s losses are getting stranger,” Sargent noted, referencing Trump’s statement: “I tell Republicans, you want to win elections, you got to talk about these facts,” which he claims include his own accomplishments since returning to office.

Trump even asserted, “It’s really easy to win elections when you talk about the facts.”

“That strikes me as pretty deep denial,” Sargent told guest Jessica Post, a Democratic strategist. “It seems to me that, in just about every conceivable way, these elections were a repudiation of his record — particularly on the economy.”

Now, appearing desperate and flailing, Sargent and Post say Trump is “openly” responding to his losses by pushing “pernicious gerrymandering schemes” aimed at rigging the 2026 midterms.

“He actually came out and said it in another quote right after Election Day this week,” Sargent explained. “He said this of Democrats: ‘Now, if we do what I’m saying, they’ll most likely never obtain power.’”

“So there you have it — end the filibuster, pass all these voting restrictions, and we will lock in Republican power forever,” Sargent continued. “You’re not supposed to admit openly that you want to do these voting restrictions in order to rig the elections in your favor and create one-party rule — you’re supposed to say you want to do it in order to eliminate fraud, which is all b——, but that’s what they say. And at least most Republicans know that they’re supposed to say that. But Trump says straight out, let’s do all this stuff in order to lock in power for ourselves. It’s just amazing.”

“He’s definitely not hiding the ball there,” agreed Post. “Republicans received printed talking points saying, ‘We’re going to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat,’ after they decided they wanted to change all the voting laws leading up to the last 2024 election. And obviously, Trump — if he got that handout — he just decided to ignore it.”

Post also highlighted that Trump’s gerrymandering scheme could result in “nine to twelve [Republican] House seats — and maybe even more … if Trump’s able to convince more states to act.” However, she pointed out that many are not considering Virginia in these calculations, which could add “a number of Dem seats.”

“So there’s really a range of possibilities here,” Post said, “going all the way from Republicans having five extra seats at the end of the day and being able to hold onto the House … or all this backfiring and Republicans actually losing a couple more seats and losing the House as a result.”

Despite these concerns, Post expressed optimism about the future for Democrats, citing the positive results on Tuesday.

Lorient vs Toulouse Prediction and Betting Tips | November 9 2025

Lorient face off against Toulouse in a Ligue 1 match at the Stade du Moustoir this Sunday. Currently, Lorient sit in 16th place in the table, while Toulouse have climbed up to 9th place in recent weeks. So, which of these sides will come out on top this weekend?

### Lorient vs Toulouse Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

Lorient’s home record against Toulouse leaves a lot to be desired. They have not beaten Toulouse at the Stade du Moustoir in their last six meetings and have been defeated in their last two home clashes.

Lorient were well beaten by Lens last weekend, extending their current winless run to five matches. Their last victory came on September 27, when they pulled off an impressive 3-1 upset against Monaco.

On the other hand, Toulouse are also without a win in their last three games. However, they have only suffered one defeat during this run and had a decent spell prior to that, having lost just once in their last six matches. Their most recent game ended in a goalless draw with Le Havre.

While Lorient have only won two games all season—which explains their low league standing—one area where they have been relatively strong is at home. They have suffered just one defeat at the Stade du Moustoir this season, a heavy 1-7 loss to Lille back in August.

In terms of goalkeeping, Toulouse boast one of the best performers in Ligue 1. Their highly-rated keeper, Guillaume Restes, has kept four clean sheets so far this season. Only PSG’s Lucas Chevalier has managed more shutouts.

### Lorient vs Toulouse Prediction

Neither side is coming into this game in great form. Lorient have not won since September, while Toulouse have also been winless in their last three outings.

Overall, Lorient’s season has been relatively poor, but they have proven tough to break down at home, with Lille being the only team to defeat them there. Given Toulouse’s recent struggles to find the back of the net, this match could well be a low-scoring affair.

Taking into account Lorient’s strong home performances and Toulouse’s less-than-lethal attack, the most likely outcome is a draw.

**Prediction: Lorient 1-1 Toulouse**

### Lorient vs Toulouse Betting Tips

– **Tip 1:** Result – Draw
– **Tip 2:** Game to feature fewer than 2.5 goals – Yes
*(Four of the last six games between Lorient and Toulouse have featured fewer than 2.5 goals.)*
– **Tip 3:** Aron Donnum to score or assist for Toulouse – Yes
*(Donnum has scored three goals and registered two assists in his last six matches for Toulouse.)*

Stay tuned for what promises to be an interesting battle at the Stade du Moustoir this Sunday!

Dolphins’ beleaguered defense facing injury issues vs. Buffalo

Miami Dolphins Injury Update and Team News Ahead of Sunday’s Game vs. Buffalo

Defensive Injuries Cloud Dolphins’ Upcoming Matchup

Miami Dolphins cornerback Rasul Douglas (foot/ankle) appears unlikely to play in Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, according to head coach Mike McDaniel. Edge rusher Chop Robinson (concussion) is also expected to miss the game. Both players are projected starters, with Robinson expected to fill the role left by Jaelan Phillips, who was traded to Philadelphia.

The Dolphins’ defense, currently ranked 24th in the league, allowing 343.7 yards per game, could face further challenges depending on the availability of safeties Iffy Melifonwu (thumb/foot) and Ashtyn Davis (quadricep). Additionally, wide receiver and kickoff returner Dee Eskridge (shoulder) is confirmed out for the game.

Douglas, the Dolphins’ most consistent cornerback, sustained his injury during last week’s 28-6 loss to Baltimore. Coach McDaniel said he is preparing “as though he won’t” play but left the door open for a possible return. Should Douglas be sidelined, Ethan Bonner is likely to start in his place.

Similarly, McDaniel noted Robinson is in the same uncertain situation. While “prepared for him not to play,” the coach is not ruling out his participation. If Robinson cannot suit up, veteran Matthew Judon might step into the lineup.

Dolphins’ Defense Faces Tough Test Against Bills

Miami’s defense must contain Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen, the reigning league MVP, and running back James Cook—who attended Miami Central High School and is currently dealing with an ankle injury. The Bills have beaten the Dolphins in seven consecutive games, making Sunday’s contest a critical challenge for Miami.

Tanner Conner May Return Amid Roster Moves

Tight end Tanner Conner was released on Thursday; however, McDaniel hinted there is a strong chance Conner could rejoin the team. “There’s a couple of things at play that we’re working on,” McDaniel stated, suggesting additional roster moves may be forthcoming.

Players Remove Pop-A-Shot and Card Table from Locker Room

On Thursday, Dolphins players decided to remove the Pop-A-Shot arcade-style basketball game and a small card table from their locker room. These had previously been popular gathering spots, and just a few weeks ago, players did not see them as distractions. The shift in opinion led to their removal.

Coach McDaniel was not made aware of this decision beforehand, noting that the locker room is considered the players’ domain. “It was not something that was told to me before it happened, and that’s their space… However they do that, I’m cool with it,” McDaniel explained.

Interestingly, the 2022 Dolphins experienced a rollercoaster relationship with their ping pong table, removing it twice during the season. The team posted a 6-2 record without it in the locker room and 3-7 with it. Coincidentally, last week the Baltimore Ravens also removed their ping pong table before defeating Miami 28-6.

Organizational Insights and Performance Metrics

Champ Kelly Earns High Praise from Dolphins Staff

Offensive coordinator Frank Smith, who previously worked alongside interim general manager Champ Kelly in Chicago (2015-17), spoke highly of Kelly’s leadership and communication skills. Kelly served as director of pro scouting and assistant director of player personnel, while Smith was the tight ends coach.

Smith described Kelly as “high energy, great communicator, proactive, just a very great teammate,” adding, “he wants to be a part of solving problems.” Smith also sees strong potential in Kelly for a full-time general manager role, highlighting his excellent communication and proactive approach.

Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver echoed this sentiment, calling Kelly “extremely knowledgeable” and “very personable.” Weaver praised Kelly’s consistency and transparency, saying “you know exactly what you’re going to get every day.” Both coaches believe Kelly would excel if appointed GM permanently.

Dolphins Struggle Significantly with Turnover Margin

Coach McDaniel regards turnover margin as one of the most telling NFL statistics. The Dolphins currently hold a minus-8 turnover margin, ranking 31st league-wide. They have committed 15 giveaways—including 11 interceptions and four lost fumbles—while generating only seven takeaways (one interception and six fumble recoveries).

Under McDaniel’s tenure, the turnover margin has been particularly troubling: minus-18 overall. The Dolphins were minus-7 in 2022 (tied 29th), improved to plus-2 in 2023 (tied 12th), and are presently minus-5 in the 2024 season (tied 20th).

Special Teams Coordinator Uses ‘Not Top 10’ Video as Teaching Tool

Special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman produces a weekly “Not Top 10” video featuring notable special teams errors from around the league. This serves both as a form of incentive and a teaching aid to encourage the Dolphins players to avoid similar mistakes.

“On Saturday nights I have what’s called a ‘Not Top 10’ that I show to the players,” Aukerman explained. “It’s just, ‘Hey guys, this is the stuff that’s going on around the league. Don’t be on it.’”

Aukerman and his staff review every special teams snap from each NFL game. If they identify mistakes worthy of highlighting, they include them in these videos. Unfortunately, the Dolphins have appeared multiple times in these segments this season, signaling room for improvement.

Looking Ahead

As the Dolphins prepare to face a strong Bills team without key defensive starters, the injury situation and recent roster developments add to the uncertainty surrounding Sunday’s game. Meanwhile, efforts to improve communication, reduce turnovers, and tighten special teams performance remain priorities for Miami’s staff and players alike.

Hegseth: U.S. Strike in Caribbean Kills 3, Warns Narco-Traffickers ‘We Will Kill You’ [WATCH]

The U.S. military conducted a strike on a vessel in the Caribbean on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of three men aboard the boat, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced. He described the vessel as operated by a “Designated Terrorist Organization,” according to Fox News.

Hegseth shared the news in a post on X, accompanied by a short unclassified video clip showing the vessel being struck. He confirmed that the strike occurred in international waters and that no U.S. forces were harmed during the operation.

“Today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization,” Hegseth wrote. “The vessel was trafficking narcotics in the Caribbean and was struck in international waters. No U.S. forces were harmed in the strike, and three male narco-terrorists who were aboard the vessel were killed.”

The video footage of the strike was included in the announcement, marking the latest in a series of U.S. maritime strikes targeting suspected drug-trafficking vessels. This campaign began in September and has involved multiple strikes across the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. According to Hegseth’s statement and various reporting outlets tracking the operations, approximately 69 to 70 people have been killed cumulatively in these strikes.

Hegseth framed the operation as part of an intensified U.S. effort under the Trump administration to disrupt maritime narcotics routes. In his post, he issued a blunt warning to traffickers:

“To all narco-terrorists who threaten our homeland: if you want to stay alive, stop trafficking drugs. If you keep trafficking deadly drugs—we will kill you.”

He also reiterated the administration’s messaging that equates drug cartels to extremist threats. President Donald Trump has previously referred to “the cartels as the ISIS of the Western Hemisphere.”

These operations have raised questions from lawmakers and oversight officials, who are seeking more details about the legal basis for the strikes, the identities of the groups designated as terrorist organizations, and the evidence linking specific vessels to narcotics trafficking. Some senators and watchdog groups have pressed the administration for the underlying legal opinions and intelligence supporting the use of lethal force in international waters.

Pentagon officials maintain that the strikes aim to stem the flow of drugs into the United States and to target organizations labeled by the administration as threats to U.S. security. Hegseth’s release of video footage from the latest strike follows a pattern of the Defense Department posting short clips on public platforms to document these operations.

Critics argue that the footage and official statements are insufficient substitutes for transparent and verifiable disclosures about targets and the legal authorities involved.

The Trump administration has reaffirmed its commitment to continuing maritime actions against trafficking networks until what officials describe as the “poisoning of the American people” ends. Hegseth’s warning and the announcement of another lethal strike highlight the administration’s willingness to use military force at sea as a key component of its anti-drug strategy.

### Always Remember to Bet on Sports Responsibly

Betting on sports is one of the best ways to stay engaged, test your knowledge, and add excitement to every game — but it’s important to always do it responsibly. Responsible sports betting means keeping things fun, controlled, and focused on entertainment rather than chasing wins or losses. When done the right way, betting can enhance your sports experience instead of taking away from it.

Here are a few key points to keep in mind when betting responsibly:

– **Set a budget and stick to it:** Only wager what you can comfortably afford to lose. Think of it like paying for a ticket to a game — it’s part of the entertainment.
– **Avoid chasing losses:** Everyone hits rough stretches. Trying to win back money by increasing your bets usually leads to bigger losses and frustration.
– **Stay informed:** Make picks based on research, matchups, and logic — not emotion or impulse.
– **Take breaks when needed:** If betting starts to feel stressful or no longer enjoyable, it’s a good time to step back.
– **Use tools that help you stay in control:** Many platforms offer deposit limits, time reminders, and cooling-off options to help keep your play balanced.

At the end of the day, sports betting should be about having fun and staying connected to the games you love. Keep things smart, set limits, and remember — responsible betting is the best way to make sure the excitement lasts all season long.

Trump administration asks appeals court to immediately halt ruling on SNAP funding

The Trump administration has asked the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to issue an emergency stay of a judge’s ruling Thursday ordering the administration to fully fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by today.

Lawyers for the Department of Justice argue that the district court ruling makes a “mockery of the separation of powers.” In their filing, the DOJ stated, “This unprecedented injunction makes a mockery of the separation of powers. Courts hold neither the power to appropriate nor the power to spend. Courts are charged with enforcing the law, but the law is explicit that SNAP benefits are subject to available appropriations.”

U.S. District Judge John McConnell, in his ruling Thursday, ordered the Trump administration to fully fund SNAP for the month of November by Friday.

Last week, McConnell ordered the government to use emergency funds to pay for SNAP in time for the November 1 payments to be made. However, the administration committed to only partially funding the program, stating they needed to reserve additional funds for child nutrition programs.

In his Thursday ruling, McConnell described the government’s argument—that it did not want to tap into emergency funds in order to protect child nutrition programs—as implausible. He accused the Trump administration of “erroneously and intentionally” conflating the funding.

“People have gone without for too long. Not making payments to them for even another day is simply unacceptable,” the judge said.

The government has asked the circuit court to allow the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which operates SNAP, to continue with the partial payment of benefits and to “not compel the agency to transfer billions of dollars from another safety net program with no certainty of their replenishment.”

Judge McConnell himself denied a request from the government to stay his own decision, stating, “The request for a stay of this decision, either a stay or an administrative stay, is denied. People have gone without for too long. Not making payments to them for even another day is simply unacceptable.”
