“Zor bir maç olacağını biliyorduk. İlk Avrupa maçımızda son şampiyona karşı deplasmanda oynadık. Bunun kolay olmasını beklemiyorduk. Ama yine de daha iyi oynayabilirdik. Oyuncularımın bugünkü performanstan daha iyi olduğunu biliyorum.

Bugün çok fazla top kaybı yaptık, bu top kayıplarının bazıları rakibimizin agresif savunmasından kaynaklanıyordu. Ama biz de basit hatalar yaptık. Bazen çok acele oynadık, paslarımızda yeteri kadar dikkatli değildik ve sahayı çok iyi göremedik. Bu top kayıpları da potamıza hızlı hücumlar olarak geri döndü.

Hafta içi bu konuda oyuncularımı uyarmıştım ama bunu engelleme konusunda çok başarılı değildik. Maçın belki de en kötü yanı agresifliğimizi kaybetmemizdi. Skora bakmadan her zaman oyunumuzu oynamaya devam etmemiz gerekiyordu. Pes edip kaderimizi kabul edemeyiz.

Oyuncularımın biraz gergin olmasını bekliyorduk. Takım tarihimizin bu arenalardaki ilk maçıydu. Oyuncularımız tabii ki daha iyi bir oyun oynamak istiyordu, buraya bu yaklaşımla geldik. Rakibimizin bizden daha agresif olduğunu gördükten sonra işler biraz rayından çıktı.

Bulduğumuz bazı boş şutları maçın başında değerlendiremedik. Bu da bizim güvenimizi kaybetmemize neden oldu. Ne olursa olsun maçın içinde kalmamız gerekiyordu. Ama kafamız bu pozisyonlara takılı kaldı ve üstesinden gelemedik.

Bu bizim için bir tecrübe oldu, önümüzdeki karşılaşmalar için buradan ders çıkarmamız gerekiyor.”

Kartal Özmızrak ise şu ifadeleri kullandı:

“Son şampiyona karşı oynayacağımızı biliyorduk ve tüm hafta buna göre hazırlanmıştık. Ancak özellikle ilk yarıda bu hazırlıklarımız sahaya yansımadı. Maça çok iyi başladılar.

İkinci yarıda biraz daha iyi savunma yapmaya başladık, topu paylaşıp daha iyi şut atmaya başladık. Eğer Şampiyonlar Ligi’nde başarılı olmak istiyorsak bunu 40 dakikaya yaymamız gerekiyor.

Karditsa defeated Oostende after a dramatic overtime

Karditsa from Greece pulled off a small upset in the opening round of the Basketball Champions League, defeating Belgian Oostende on their home court with a thrilling 95-93 victory after overtime.

The standout player for Karditsa was guard Brandon Jefferson, who finished the game with 23 points, including an impressive five three-pointers. Other key contributors in double figures were El Ellis III with 14 points, Noah Horchler with 12, and Demajeo Wiggins who added 10.

For Oostende, Noam Yaacov led the scoring with 27 points, while Aaron Estrada contributed 22, making them the most efficient players on their team.

Fans witnessed one of the most exciting matches of the Champions League first round in Oostende, with the outcome decided in the final minute of overtime. Karditsa had a chance to secure the win in regular time, but Silas Melson’s three-pointer thrilled the home crowd and pushed the game into overtime, tying it at 83-83.

Ultimately, the Greek team celebrated after a dramatic finish and free-throw heroics to clinch the win on Belgian soil.
