LEGO The Legend of Zelda set coming in 2026

Nintendo Partners with LEGO for New The Legend of Zelda Set Releasing in 2026

Nintendo has teamed up with LEGO once again to bring fans an exciting new set based on The Legend of Zelda. Scheduled for release in 2026, this upcoming set will feature the iconic Hero of Time, Link, in a brand-new LEGO figure.

Earlier today, Nintendo gave fans a sneak peek of the Zelda LEGO set through a video posted on social media. This preview offers the first look at the new LEGO Link figure, showcasing the blond protagonist in his classic green tunic and hat. The figure comes equipped with the legendary Master Sword and Hylian Shield, with a fairy floating beside him—adding a charming touch to the design.

This will mark the second LEGO set inspired by The Legend of Zelda franchise. Last year, LEGO released a set centered around the Great Deku Tree, which included minifigures of both Link and Princess Zelda. Beyond Zelda, LEGO has also created sets featuring other beloved Nintendo characters such as Mario, Bowser, and Donkey Kong.

Currently, Nintendo has provided a link to the official LEGO store page for this collaboration; however, the page is not yet live and returns an error code. As for additional details on what the new Legend of Zelda LEGO set will include beyond the Link figure, fans will need to wait for further announcements.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting partnership as we countdown to its 2026 release!

Lumines Arise review: Hip to make squares

Enhance has been making games for many years, but the team cemented its place on the gaming map with its unique blend of puzzle gameplay and stirring musical accompaniment. *Tetris Effect* remains a generation-defining reinvention of a classic franchise. Building on that success, Enhance has now given the same treatment to *Lumines* with their latest release, *Lumines Arise*.

### Make the Beat Drop

*Lumines Arise* follows the series’ formula of creating 2×2 squares of matching patterns, aiming to clear as much of the board as possible. Like the best puzzle games, the speed and intensity ramp up as the game progresses, keeping players on their toes.

In Journey Mode, players navigate through five distinct sections, each requiring a certain number of squares to advance. The game starts off gently but becomes increasingly challenging as the play area shrinks in the later stages.

While the puzzle mechanics alone are a winner, *Lumines Arise* follows in *Tetris Effect*’s footsteps by wrapping the gameplay in a breathtakingly beautiful visual package. Backgrounds feel fully immersive, featuring scenes ranging from a remote beach and snowy cabin to a tropical rainforest with head-bopping chameleons and a bustling neon-lit metropolis.

Each stage pulses and moves in time with the music, making it easy to get lost in the rhythm—sometimes to the point of losing track of gameplay details. Even on Easy difficulty, Journey Mode offers a satisfying challenge, especially for players new to the *Lumines* formula who might think making squares is simple.

### Visuals and Accessibility

Some stages like Mirror Ball or Digital Human amp up the visual effects heavily, creating dazzling but occasionally distracting displays. While these flashy effects are impressive, they can overwhelm, especially by default. Fortunately, Enhance includes a comprehensive set of accessibility options to tone down the intensity and make visuals more subtle. This is particularly helpful in the game’s VR mode.

Accessibility settings also add useful modifiers to reduce game stress. Players can adjust whether blocks fall automatically and enable a No Fail option alongside various difficulty settings that influence game speed.

Camera distance can be tweaked to lessen the intensity of visual effects, aiding players sensitive to sensory overload. The game also offers toggles to disable spiders and snakes, catering to those with related phobias. Additionally, a photosensitivity warning appears at startup to prepare players for the visual experience.

### All Together Now

The core experience in *Lumines Arise* is the Journey Mode, but there are additional ways to enjoy the game. Missions present specific challenges, such as clearing squares within a limited number of moves or completing more unconventional objectives. Some missions feature falling towers or even Tetris-shaped pieces—an enjoyable nod to Enhance’s previous puzzle success.

Another key feature is multiplayer, which offers a handful of modes. Burst Battle is the main competitive mode, where players clear as many squares as possible while sending “garbage blocks” to opponents. Players can customize their preferred background and music tracks here.

The Leaderboard League adds Time Attack challenges and a mode called Dig Down, which tasks players with managing a rising tide of blocks. While these additional modes are entertaining, their limited variety means they can lose appeal over time.

One standout aspect of *Arise*’s multiplayer and overall presentation is its sense of community. Weekend events encourage the entire player base to participate by playing any multiplayer mode. The more completed games, the greater the contribution to a worldwide goal—such as gathering Light to build a giant Vision construct. All participants earn rewards to customize their Pon avatar.

The multiplayer hub, main menu, and even the end of Journey Mode all feature NPC Pon avatars representing every player who has logged in, creating a lively, festive atmosphere that enhances the social experience.

### The Soundtrack: Lumines Arise’s Defining Feature

Music lies at the heart of *Lumines Arise*. The soundtrack by Hydelic spans a vibrant mix of genres including techno, house, rap, and LoFi beats. The tunes synchronize beautifully with the game’s moving Timeline that clears completed squares and the ever-moving backgrounds.

Players aren’t required to play on the beat—instead, the beat plays with them. If a background song speeds up, so does the Timeline, adding an exhilarating toe-tapping challenge.

### Press Play

Like *Tetris Effect* before it, *Lumines Arise* is as much a musical experience as a gaming one. Without its stellar soundtrack, the game wouldn’t work nearly as well. Luckily, it boasts an array of bangers that power both Journey Mode and multiplayer sessions.

Enhance also provides a Playlist mode, allowing players to arrange songs and their associated backgrounds to their personal liking.

As someone more inclined toward Tetris, I hadn’t been a big *Lumines* fan—until now. *Lumines Arise* is an absolute triumph. The visuals are among Enhance’s best, blending the power of Unity with their proprietary Synaesthesia Engine.

The game is wildly fun and surprisingly challenging in spots, but above all, it is a relaxing pleasure. So sit back, unwind, and let the beat drop.

22 Adorable Cat Memes to Warm Up Your Hearts and Paws on These Chilly Autumn Days

No matter what we seem to do, we’re always cold. We could put on multiple layers of fuzzy sweaters, snuggle up under cozy blankets, and drink some hot tea—and we’d still be shivering.

Do you know why? Because we’re trying to warm ourselves from the outside in, instead of the inside out.

So, how does one warm up the insides? Well, the easiest way is through the heart. And there is nothing that warms our hearts more than adorable cat memes.

They’re like the hand-warmers of the soul or the oversized hoodie you steal from your husband that is the coziest clothing ever. With their purrfect smiles, kissable heads, and awwdorable toe beans, we can’t help but feel loved and warm in their pawsitive presence.

They also make very good heaters, by the way—but that’s beside the point. That is, if they aren’t hogging the space heater for themselves!

Security tightened outside Breach Candy Hospital and Dharmendra’s Juhu home amid false death reports

Veteran actor Dharmendra has recently made headlines due to health concerns. Two weeks ago, the 88-year-old star was discharged from hospital, but on November 10, he was re-admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for further medical care.

Following his re-hospitalisation, unverified reports falsely claiming Dharmendra’s demise began circulating online, causing confusion and panic among his fans. In response to these rumours, security outside Breach Candy Hospital and Dharmendra’s Juhu residence has been significantly tightened. Mumbai Police have deployed additional personnel and installed barricades around the hospital to manage the growing crowd of media and well-wishers and to ensure patient privacy.

Dharmendra’s wife, Hema Malini, and daughter, Esha Deol, have firmly denied all rumours regarding his death. They confirmed that Dharmendra is stable and recovering well. Earlier today, Hema Malini and Esha Deol were spotted visiting the hospital to be by his side.

Several members of the film fraternity have also shown their support and concern during this time. Notable visitors include Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan along with his son Aryan Khan, Govinda, Riteish Deshmukh, and Ameesha Patel, all of whom have visited Dharmendra to check on his health.

Reacting strongly to the misinformation, Hema Malini took to social media to express her displeasure. She wrote, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? This is being extremely disrespectful and irresponsible. Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”

Esha Deol also released a statement urging restraint. “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery,” she wrote.

As of now, Dharmendra continues to receive medical care at Breach Candy Hospital, with his family standing by him. Authorities have urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information and to respect the actor’s privacy during this period.

Crisol: Theater of Idols isn’t shying away from its horrific religious themes

Back at Tokyo Game Show in September, I had the chance to sit down with David Carrasco, the CEO and co-founder of Vermila Studios and the executive producer on the upcoming *Crisol: Theater of Idols*. The game is a survival horror first-person shooter that leans heavily into both survival and horror elements.

*Crisol* takes place on the Island of Tormentosa in Hispania—a nightmarish version of Spain, tainted by corrupting religion and a blood curse that fuels your weapons and health.

### A Blumhouse Games Beat

Over the last two years, I feel like I’ve been following something of a Blumhouse Games beat. I spoke with team members from the high school-set *Fear The Spotlight* at Summer Games Fest 2024 in LA, when the publisher made its major debut in the gaming industry. Since then, I’ve interviewed the creators behind *The Eyes of Hellfire*, a gothic Irish multiplayer game.

As a big horror fan, I’m by no means complaining. In fact, I’ve been continually impressed by how unique and singular each game signed by Blumhouse has felt, despite all belonging to the same wider genre.

### Blumhouse Brethren

When I asked Carrasco why the Hollywood-based publisher sought out his and his peers’ games, he explained, “I’m not Blumhouse, I cannot speak for them, but I think what is really important for them is that you have vision. That you are not just making a game, but that your game tries to explain something and has an essence.”

Regarding how developers achieve this, Carrasco said, “In many cases, you speak from what you know, and we know Spanish folklore.”

*Crisol* doesn’t just focus on folklore, but also on the scars left by Spain’s complex relationship with religion—from Paganism to Catholicism. This is explored through two fictional groups in-game: one, a “religion of the sun,” and the other, “the cult of the sea.”

### Navigating Controversy

In an era when games worldwide are canceled mid-production due to an “increasingly intense” US political climate, I asked Carrasco if convincing a publisher to support a game with potentially controversial topics inspired by real political and religious history was difficult.

He responded, “We discussed [with Blumhouse] that it was [inspired by] Spanish folklore, but you didn’t need to know anything about it. It would be interesting even if you didn’t study Spanish history.”

While Blumhouse seemed receptive, Carrasco explained that not every publisher shared the same enthusiasm. “Some publishers we visited wanted to remove some of it or wondered whether someone without that connection would be interested [in the game].”

This aspect of the pitching process frustrated Carrasco. He pointed out that players can overcome cultural hurdles if a game hooks them with gameplay, style, or premise.

“Some people don’t know anything about Samurai or Japanese culture,” he said, “but then you play and get excited because it’s so exotic, unique, and different.”

From there, players begin to learn and understand what makes different cultures interesting through immersion.

“It’s a way to introduce — in our case, this is not Spain. It’s a completely twisted version — but there’s a lot of Spanish flavor. We’ve taken elements from different eras, regions, and art styles to give you a glimpse, an idea like, ‘Oh, I’d like to know more about this. Where did it come from? Maybe I can visit Spain someday and discover the cathedrals and how they connect with the *Crisol* version.’”

### Connected to Faith

Some of the influences Carrasco mentioned are immediately visible if you watch a trailer or play the demo. The first-person horror and monsters stalking you through locations clearly draw from *Resident Evil* games, while the shooting and light stealth integrate highly animated *Bioshock*-style gunplay and immersive sim elements.

However, I wanted to learn more about some inspirations that players might not recognize as quickly. I asked Carrasco about the driving forces behind *Crisol*’s unique world design and if there were particular parts of Spanish history or folklore that influenced it.

He explained, “In terms of art design, we really wanted to have coherence. Sometimes you play games that are fun, but you notice they didn’t invest the same amount of time or effort in art direction, where something doesn’t feel connected to the environment, or you wonder, ‘Why is this person dressed like that?’”

To avoid this, the team created cultures and locations that made sense within the world and connected to each other cohesively.

“We put a lot of effort into crafting a coherent, structured art direction. In Tormentosa, there’s the Cult of the Sea — so everything has that sea connection, whether in color, shape, or decorations. Nothing feels out of place.”

He was quick to highlight the meaning behind the name *Crisol*, which means “crucible,” like a place where many things are mixed.

“We mixed many elements from different parts of Spain but didn’t want them to stand out as weird or out of context, like, ‘Oh, this cathedral does not belong here.’ So, we spent a lot of time making it feel natural.”

### It’s in the Blood

Most of *Crisol*’s gameplay elements have recognizable inspirations, but one mechanic feels wholly singular.

In *Crisol*, unlike other survival horror games with guns, you don’t scavenge for ammunition—your own blood acts as your bullets and your lifeblood.

If your gold-encrusted shotgun runs dry, you can transmute a chunk of your health bar into ammo, hoping to land a clean hit on a stalking enemy.

Occasionally, as you come across rotting corpses, you might find something fresh enough to absorb their hemoglobin (presumably) into your health, then redistribute it into your weapons.

This risk/reward balance consolidates health and ammo management into one resource, forcing you to make tough decisions.

Carrasco shared the thought process behind this mechanic from two perspectives.

“First, survival horror games have slowly become less about survival and more about action. They give you abundant ammunition and powerful weapons, so the horror becomes less challenging. The creatures attacking you are eventually defeat-able.”

He elaborated, “By adding the blood mechanic, you always have to monitor your health, decide which weapon is best for each enemy, assess the number of enemies on screen, and decide how to approach each situation.”

But beyond gameplay, the team was drawn to the idea because of its striking iconography and narrative integration.

“The more religious aspect is how you sacrifice your blood to your god to defeat enemies.”

Carrasco described creating ammo almost like a sacrament: “You take your blood and make it divine, turning it into a weapon that can defeat the monstrosities attacking you.”

### Reveling in Rare Reliquaries

Layering religious imagery onto gameplay to create atmosphere is a recurring theme in *Crisol*, and something the team often discovered naturally during research.

This is especially evident in the game’s ornate weaponry.

When you first pick up a revolver or shotgun in *Crisol*, they look relatively standard. But when the soldier of the religious order you play infuses his blood into a gun, it becomes encrusted with jewels and a golden finish, reminiscent of a 16th-century religious sceptre.

Carrasco shared the real-world inspiration behind this transformation.

“As we dug into religious history, we discovered a lot about saints and how they preserve relics.”

He explained that your weapons are akin to reliquaries — containers for the divine that in the real world house remains or items belonging to saints or divine figures.

“The materials are the same — gold, ivory, expensive wood — creating stark contrast with the weapons you find. The blood is what is divine, holding that divine element inside.”

### Meaning Beyond Controversy

All of this combines to create something meaningful.

This isn’t religious imagery used simply to court controversy or grab headlines. Carrasco and Vermila Studios seem genuinely invested in exploring and breaking down religious ideas through gameplay and worldbuilding.

The result is a game that feels authentic to its regional inspiration while willing to comment on the history and culture it represents.

I can’t wait to see where these ideas take *Crisol* when it releases.

*This preview is based on a PC demo played on-site at Tokyo Game Show in Japan. The final product is subject to change.*

Sudanese Drama ‘Cotton Queen’ Wins Golden Alexander Award at Thessaloniki Film Festival

Suzannah Mirghani’s Sudanese drama *Cotton Queen* won the top prize Sunday at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, taking home the Golden Alexander for best feature film.

Mirghani’s arresting debut—the first-ever feature film shot by a female Sudanese director—wowed the festival jury. The jury included Match Factory head of sales Thania Dimitrakopoulou, U.S. cinematographer Frederick Elmes (“Blue Velvet,” “Wild at Heart”), and writer-director Elegance Bratton (“The Inspection”), who said *Cotton Queen* “blew us all away.”

“This film sat with all of us judges from beginning to end,” said Bratton. “As we live in a world consumed by genocide and war, it’s important to remember what we’re all fighting for: our families, ourselves, our friends, our communities. This film kept us focused on what matters most.”

*Cotton Queen* follows a young Sudanese woman living in a village on the banks of the Nile River. The granddaughter of the so-called “Cotton Queen,” an elderly woman who’s taken on legendary dimensions due to her resistance against the British and her alleged ability to see the future, Nafisa works in her grandmother’s cotton fields and dreams about the young man she loves.

But the arrival of a wealthy entrepreneur from London upends everything, with her parents, her grandmother, and her community planning Nafisa’s future without her knowledge. The film premiered in the Critics’ Week strand at this year’s Venice Film Festival.

Accepting the Golden Alexander in Thessaloniki, Mirghani dedicated the award to Sudan, which is now in the grips of a devastating civil war, and to her Sudanese cast and crew, who are clinging to survival and “seeking a way out.”

“In this time of war and of genocide, to make a film with actors who are now all displaced from their homes, all in Egypt where we shot the film, seeking refuge to show that you can still work, you can still make a film, you can still make art in this time and be recognized for it, is really the most welcome news at this time,” she said.

Greek filmmaker Aristotelis Maragkos won the Silver Alexander for best director for his sophomore feature *Beachcomber*, which tells the story of a young man chasing his sailor father’s legacy who is forced to confront the fragile truth of who he really is. The film also took home the Artistic Achievement Award for Best Cinematography for DoP Giorgos Karvelas.

Elsewhere in the international competition, the best actor award went to Harry Melling for his depiction of a mild-mannered traffic warden exploring his submissive side in Harry Lighton’s queer romance *Pillion*. Best actress honors went to Sabrina Amali, who plays an Egyptian archaeologist whose past catches up to her in Nancy Biniadaki’s *Maysoon*.

A Special Award for Best Screenplay went to writer Yvonne Görlach for Christina Tournatzès’ *Karla*.

In the festival’s Meet the Neighbors+ competition section, which features debut or sophomore films from the 36 countries of Southeastern Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East, the Golden Alexander for best feature went to *The Last One for the Road*, Francesco Sossai’s boozy dramedy about a pair of aging drinking buddies that premiered in the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section. The film also scooped best actor honors for its two leading men, Pierpaolo Capovilla and Sergio Romano.

The section’s Silver Alexander for best director went to Yanis Koussim for the horror film *Roqia*, which follows a young Algerian man tormented by mysterious nighttime visitors after a car crash leaves him with amnesia. The award for best actress in the Meet the Neighbors+ section went to Manuela Martelli for her portrayal of a Chilean widow in Hana Jušić’s *God Will Not Help*, which also won the award for Best Artistic Achievement.

In the Film Forward competition section showcasing innovative filmmaking, the Golden Alexander went to Mehrnoush Alia’s *1,001 Frames*, while the Silver Alexander went to Manoël Dupont for *Before/After*, whose stars Jérémy Lamblot and Baptiste Leclere also earned a Special Mention from the jury. The award for Best Artistic Achievement went to Kristen Stewart’s *The Chronology of Water*.

Other big winners at Sunday’s award ceremony included *Bearcave*, a queer romance by first-time directors Stergios Dinopoulos and Krysianna Papadakis, which premiered in the Venice Days sidebar of the Venice Film Festival and took home seven awards in Thessaloniki. *Patty Is Such a Girly Name*, by Greek filmmaker Giorgos Georgopoulos, won five awards following its world premiere this week.

The Thessaloniki Film Festival runs from October 30 to November 9.
