Coinbase’s New Payment Protocol Lets AI Agents Send Money Without Human Help – And It’s Already Processing Millions

Machines Just Got Their Own Wallets

Coinbase has launched Payments MCP, a revolutionary system that enables AI agents to create crypto wallets, fund them, and send stablecoin payments using simple text commands—no API keys or complex setup required. AI agents are already using this technology to buy data, pay for computing power, and settle transactions worth millions of dollars.

The numbers speak for themselves. The x402 field’s market value surged from $178 million to $832 million in just three days in October 2025, supported by 44 projects. By September of this year, the protocol had processed 1.38 million transactions worth $1.48 million, involving over 72,500 buyers. These are real transactions happening right now with real money on the line.

x402 Turns a Forgotten Web Code into AI Payment Rails

The clever part? Coinbase built this system on a largely unused web standard from the 1990s. The protocol utilizes the HTTP 402: Payment Required status code, originally created decades ago but never implemented widely.

Erik Reppel, Coinbase’s head of engineering, explained, “Marc Andreessen and the team at Netscape explored it while discovering credit card systems” back in the ’90s, but now it finally has a real purpose.

Here’s how it works: When an AI agent tries to access a paid service, the server responds with a 402 code containing payment instructions. The agent reads these instructions, sends USDC stablecoins, and gains instant access—no signup forms, no waiting.

Coinbase and Cloudflare have announced the formation of the x402 Foundation to promote this as an industry standard. Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince stated that x402 has the “likelihood to become a core protocol for agentic commerce.” With a company protecting half the internet backing this payment protocol, something big is indeed happening.

AI and Instant Payments Transform Online Entertainment

This technology is already having an impact on the online entertainment sector. For example, crypto-enabled online casinos demonstrate the power of combining AI with instant payments. Players enjoy amazing bonuses, massive game libraries, and withdrawals hitting their wallets within seconds. Gambling expert Matt Bastock rated the top choices on the casinobeats.com online casinos list, showcasing this new era.

AI Agents Can Now Buy Computing Power and Data Independently

The system supports AI models like Claude, Gemini, Codex, and Cherry Studio right out of the box. ChatGPT support is coming soon, pending some technical compatibility fixes.

What ensures safety? Users set spending limits for their AI agents. Reppel noted, “They have dedicated funds you explicitly give them, but they don’t have access to your main wallet. It’s impossible for an agent to rack up a credit card bill you’re responsible for.” For example, an agent might be allowed to spend ten cents freely but would need your approval for anything over a dollar.

Early adopters include Prixe, a stock price API enabling agents to create financial reports, as well as numerous image and video generation services. These agents chain services together—pulling market data, generating charts, writing analysis—all powered by automatic micropayments.

The efficiency gains are significant. Fintech startups report a 60-80% reduction in AI integration costs within the first year, saving between $400,000 and $640,000 annually.

The $30 Trillion Question: Who Pays When Machines Do Business?

Gartner estimates that the machine-to-machine economy could reach $30 trillion by 2030. By the end of this year, experts predict AI agents will execute 90% of all blockchain transactions.

Big players are betting on this future. In July 2025, CoreWeave, an AI data center company, acquired Core Scientific—the largest Bitcoin miner—for $9 billion, pivoting crypto mining infrastructure toward AI computing power.

However, challenges remain. Questions regarding security, responsibility, and standards persist. Who is liable if an AI agent sends funds to the wrong address? What happens if an agent’s wallet is hacked?

Security researchers uncovered vulnerabilities as recently as April 2025, where LLM-based attacks were used to manipulate agents.

As this technology advances, the industry faces critical decisions to safeguard the future of autonomous machine commerce.

Higher Open Predicted For Hong Kong Stock Market

The Hong Kong stock market has moved lower for three consecutive sessions, sinking more than 400 points, or 2.2 percent, along the way. The Hang Seng Index now rests just beneath the 18,030-point plateau, although it is likely to halt its slide on Tuesday.

The global forecast for the Asian markets is mixed, with continued profit-taking among technology stocks expected to cap any upside. European markets were up, while U.S. bourses were mostly lower; Asian markets are expected to follow the latter trend.

On Monday, the Hang Seng finished barely lower following mixed performances from financial shares, property stocks, and technology companies. For the day, the index eased 0.81 points, or 0.00 percent, to close at 18,027.71 after trading between 17,789.57 and 18,032.67.

Among the active stocks, Alibaba Group inched up 0.07 percent, while Alibaba Health Info tumbled 1.43 percent. ANTA Sports strengthened 1.09 percent, China Life Insurance gained 0.35 percent, and China Mengniu Dairy rallied 1.37 percent. Conversely, China Resources Land declined 0.74 percent, CITIC gained 0.53 percent, and both CNOOC and Xiaomi Corporation retreated 0.88 percent.

Other notable movers included Country Garden, which plunged 1.98 percent, CSPC Pharmaceutical dropping 0.47 percent, and Galaxy Entertainment tanking 1.96 percent. Hang Lung Properties sank 0.15 percent, Henderson Land jumped 1.42 percent, and Hong Kong & China Gas spiked 1.74 percent.

Additionally, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China climbed 0.88 percent, JD.com added 0.55 percent, Lenovo plummeted 2.68 percent, and Li Ning soared 1.83 percent. Meituan slumped 0.69 percent, New World Development rose 0.41 percent, Techtronic Industries advanced 0.76 percent, WuXi Biologics surged 2.07 percent, and Nongfu Spring remained unchanged.

The lead from Wall Street continues to be a dichotomy, with the major averages opening and finishing mixed. Only the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed in the green, rallying 260.88 points, or 0.67 percent, to finish at 39,411.21. Meanwhile, the NASDAQ tumbled 192.54 points, or 1.09 percent, closing at 17,496.82, and the S&P 500 fell 16.75 points, or 0.31 percent, ending at 5,447.87.

The weakness on Wall Street was driven by technology stocks, which dragged the markets lower. Shares of Nvidia Corporation, Dell Technologies, and Qualcomm all plummeted on profit-taking. Traders were also looking ahead to Friday’s Commerce Department report on personal income and spending for May, which includes inflation readings preferred by the Federal Reserve.

Oil prices gained on Monday amid optimism about demand outlook and potential supply disruptions due to tensions in the Middle East. West Texas Intermediate Crude oil futures for August rose $0.90, or 1.1 percent, to $81.63 a barrel.

A Major MCU Villain Could Be Returning ‘Pretty Quickly,’ Says Star

Marvel fans may not have to wait much longer to see Thanos return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Josh Brolin brought the iconic villain to life in the MCU for several years, most notably as the main antagonist in 2018’s *Avengers: Infinity War* and 2019’s *Avengers: Endgame*. Although Thanos met his end at the conclusion of *Endgame*, the concept of the multiverse has kept the door open for his potential return in future projects.

Brolin has already reprised his role as Thanos by voicing the character in several episodes of Marvel’s *What If..?* animated series, further fueling fan speculation. So, what has Josh Brolin said about Thanos coming back to the MCU?

Speaking with *Entertainment Tonight*, Brolin addressed the possibility of returning as Thanos. He said, “If Joe Russo comes to me — which he may have, I don’t know — and has an idea, then I might acquiesce. Probably pretty quickly.”

As of now, there has been no official confirmation that Brolin will reprise his role as Thanos in any upcoming Marvel Studios projects. However, it’s worth noting that directors Joe and Anthony Russo are currently working on two new Avengers films: *Avengers: Doomsday* and *Avengers: Secret Wars*.

While Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom is expected to serve as the villain in these movies, many fans anticipate a significant moment from the *Secret Wars* comics involving both Doom and Thanos could be incorporated into one of the films.

*Avengers: Doomsday* is scheduled for release on December 18, 2026, followed by *Avengers: Secret Wars* on December 17, 2027. Ahead of these, *Spider-Man 4* (also known as *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*) will hit theaters on July 31, 2026.

Outside of the MCU, Josh Brolin is currently starring in Edgar Wright’s remake of *The Running Man*, which will be released in United States theaters this coming weekend. Additionally, he will reprise his role as Gurney Halleck in Denis Villeneuve’s *Dune: Part Three*, expected to premiere in December 2026.

With Brolin open to the possibility and exciting projects on the horizon, fans remain hopeful that Thanos may indeed return to shake up the MCU once again.

All’s Fair director responds to Kim Kardashian show’s scathing reviews — and reveals what’s to come

Hulu’s newest show *All’s Fair*, starring Kim Kardashian, was just released on November 4 and has generated significant buzz online—although not all of it positive. The latest series, featuring acting heavyweights such as Glenn Close and Naomi Watts, has struggled to gain the stamp of approval from many in the entertainment industry.

To make matters worse, *All’s Fair* received an unexpected 0% rating from Rotten Tomatoes’ critics. Despite the negative reviews, director Anthony Hemingway has defended the series and is choosing to pay no mind to the criticism.

Anthony argued, “You’re not going to please everybody. You may have certain criticisms, while there are a million others who love it. I think the show holds a mirror up to each person who watches it. It’s just about: ‘Can you connect to it or relate to it, and see yourself?’ It may be out of your league, it may not be anything you can connect to, and I think that goes for anything that gets presented on screen,” he told *The Hollywood Reporter*.

Addressing critics who labeled the series as unrealistic, Hemingway emphasized that *All’s Fair* is a comedy and should be approached as such. He explained, “There’s a lot of wish fulfillment in this show that was by design, and it’s coming at a time where people want an escape and to fantasize. There are elements of this show that effectively do that, where it’s not taking itself so seriously. It wouldn’t be a comedy if it was trying to be that.”

Overall, Anthony is sticking to his creative vision and encourages viewers to remain open as the show evolves. But if they don’t, “that’s OK” too. He continued, “I think that it ultimately delivers. I do. I believe it. Hopefully opinions will change. But if they don’t, then they don’t. What we are all doing excites us, and we stand by it.”

Looking ahead, viewers can expect *All’s Fair* to become “an ultimate artist playground,” featuring “tapping into pop culture and the zeitgeist with real human stories.” Anthony teased, “I was literally hanging on every creative choice [Ryan Murphy] made in the pilot, to be able to take the baton and then usher that into the evolution of what we got to really play with in the show. Believe me: What you have seen does not touch where it goes.”

The director also offered parting advice for audiences: “Don’t come at it with such a critical or literal frame of mind. It strikes a different tone, and it will evolve over time; it will get more human. Something that was important to Ryan [Murphy] was fulfilling fantasies.”

He continued, “[He was] wanting people to see what they may not be able to obtain but can escape into and live out through an entertainment space. [He wanted to] give some wish fulfillment and light to this world.”

While critics may have shunned the series, viewers remain divided. Fan reactions are mixed, with Rotten Tomatoes’ audience giving *All’s Fair* a 61% rating. It’s safe to say that when it comes to rating *All’s Fair*, all’s fair in the game.

Thamma director Aditya Sarpotdar defends use of item songs: “They’re marketing assets, but my story unfolds through them”

Filmmaker Aditya Sarpotdar, currently enjoying the success of his latest release *Thamma*, has addressed the ongoing criticism surrounding the film’s inclusion of three item songs: “Poison Baby,” “Tum Mere Na Huye,” and “Dilbar Ki Aankhon Ka.”

The director, known for the horror-comedy hit *Munjya* within the same cinematic universe, responded to the debate in an interview with SCREEN, shedding light on his creative choices and explaining how such songs play a functional role in modern storytelling and marketing.

### Aditya Sarpotdar Defends Use of Item Songs

Reacting to the backlash, Sarpotdar stated, “All these things are marketing assets that lead you into a film. What counts is what the film gives you in the end. For me, when these songs appear, they’re there because my story unfolds through them.”

He emphasized that these tracks are not inserted merely for glamour but are woven into the narrative to enhance its rhythm and emotional beats.

The discussion around *Thamma*’s music gained traction after audiences questioned the need for three distinct item songs within a horror-comedy. Addressing the criticism head-on, Sarpotdar pointed out a shift in audience perception.

“This is the same audience that loved ‘Taras’ in *Munjya* and ‘Aaj Ki Raat.’ Nobody had a problem then. But now, suddenly, it’s an issue. Maybe it’s just happening more often, so people are reacting differently,” he remarked.

### *Thamma*: A Unique Entry in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe

*Thamma*, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, marks the first love story set within the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe—an interconnected cinematic world that includes *Stree*, *Bhediya*, and *Munjya*.

Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the film continues to perform steadily at the box office, drawing audiences with its unique blend of romance, supernatural intrigue, and quirky humour.

### Broader Conversation on the Role of Item Songs in Contemporary Cinema

Aditya Sarpotdar’s response reflects a larger dialogue about how item songs are evolving in modern cinema—from being standalone entertainment numbers to becoming integral narrative devices and powerful promotional tools.

As he puts it, what truly matters is the story that remains long after the music fades. With *Thamma*, Sarpotdar once again demonstrates that commercial appeal and storytelling can coexist, even if it means defending a few catchy beats along the way.

ITV Targets Extra $46M In Cost Savings Amid “Softening Economy” In UK

UK network ITV is planning to save another £35 million ($45.7 million) in the coming quarter, despite posting steady year-to-date group revenues.

In a Q3 trading update, the broadcaster and content group said it had identified the additional “temporary savings” in its Media & Entertainment division, which houses its linear networks and streamer ITVX.

“UK macro data is showing a softening economy, with increased uncertainty in the lead-up to the UK Budget, which is impacting the wider advertising market, and we are adjusting our costs to match this current reduction in demand,” said ITV CEO Carolyn McCall in the trading update. “We do not anticipate these temporary savings to impact our ability to deliver our strategic plan.”

The plan involves moving £20 million of programming spend into 2026 and making an additional £15 million of non-content savings, primarily through “reduced discretionary spend” and “reduced marketing spend aligned with the adjusted content slate.” This adjustment means ITV’s total content budget for 2025 will be around £1.21 billion.

Overall, total year-to-date group revenues for the nine months ending September were £2.8 billion, up 2% from £2.74 billion a year ago. A strong performance at production and sales division ITV Studios was credited with offsetting an anticipated 9% drop in total advertising revenue.

For the full year, ITV stated it is “on track to deliver good revenue growth in ITV Studios at a margin of 13-15%,” while cautioning that the “economic outlook in the UK remains uncertain with widespread caution being exercised across business sectors ahead of the Budget in November.”

ITV Studios’ revenue came in at £1.35 billion, up 11% from £1.22 billion in 2024, with external revenue rising 20% thanks to demand for programs from streamers. During the quarter, ITV Studios launched shows such as *The Reluctant Traveler* Season 3 for Apple TV and *Love Island Games* for Peacock.

However, internal revenues dropped 7% due to the absence of shows like *Saturday Night Takeaway*, sports production, and phasing of productions.

The Media & Entertainment networks arm saw total revenue fall 5% to £1.44 billion, though digital advertising revenue rose 15% as ITVX viewing increased total streamed hours by 14%. Overall digital revenues were up 13%.

ITV said its overall performance for the nine months to the end of September had been “better than market expectations” thanks to its long-term More Than TV strategy. Full-year revenue and margin outlooks remain unchanged.

“ITV has delivered a good performance in a tough advertising market,” said McCall. “Both our businesses are performing well, reflecting the significant transformation we have delivered. Our strategic initiatives continue to progress well, and we remain confident in delivering good growth in ITV Studios revenue and digital revenue for the full year. This is supported by laser-focused strategic cost management and underpinned by our resilient and highly cash-generative linear broadcast business.”

As anticipation builds for the trailer of *120 Bahadur*, a powerful war drama based on the legendary Battle of Rezang La, actors Farhan Akhtar and Raashii Khanna are set to mark the occasion with a deeply emotional gesture. On November 6, the duo will visit Jodhpur to pay tribute at the memorial of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC—the heroic soldier whose extraordinary courage inspired the film.

According to a source close to the production, the visit has been planned as a heartfelt homage to the late war hero and the values of bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism that *120 Bahadur* celebrates. “Farhan Akhtar and Raashii Khanna will be visiting the memorial of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, PVC, in Jodhpur on the day of the trailer launch. This visit is being organized as a mark of deep respect to the Major and his indomitable spirit,” the source revealed.

In a touching gesture, the actors will first showcase the trailer privately to Major Shaitan Singh Bhati’s son, Narpat Singh Ji, and his family before unveiling it to the public. This moment is expected to be one of solemn reflection and national pride, highlighting the real-life heroism that forms the core of the film.

Directed by Razneesh “Razy” Ghai and produced by Excel Entertainment in association with Trigger Happy Studios, *120 Bahadur* stars Farhan Akhtar as Major Shaitan Singh and Raashii Khanna as his wife, Shagun Kanwari Singh. The film chronicles the heroic defense of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War, where 120 soldiers of the Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon Regiment—all from the Ahir community—stood their ground against a 3,000-strong Chinese force, inflicting over 1,300 casualties despite being vastly outnumbered.

Major Shaitan Singh Bhati was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour, for his extraordinary bravery. *120 Bahadur* aims to bring his story and the valor of his men to a new generation of audiences. The film is slated for a theatrical release on November 21, 2025.

F1 driver who raced against Ayrton Senna names Max Verstappen the ‘most complete driver’

Former Ferrari driver Stefan Johansson has hailed Max Verstappen as the most complete F1 driver he has ever seen. The Swedish veteran put the Red Bull driver above all others, including Ayrton Senna, whom he raced against in the 1980s.

Johansson, who competed in 78 Grands Prix between 1980 and 1991, credited the Dutchman for taking the sport to new competitive heights. While he has witnessed greats from multiple eras, Verstappen’s technical mastery and mental strength stood out above them all.

Speaking to FORMULA 1 Magazine, Johansson said:
“(Max Verstappen is) a fantastic asset to Formula 1. That’s for sure. Max has made a very important contribution to how great the sport is today. He’s provided the entertainment since he entered the sport and is a significant factor.

“Max is still getting better every year,” added the Swede. “I think that he’ll go down in history as the best ever. I’ve driven with and against great drivers, and I find it difficult to compare eras, but for me, he’s the most complete driver I’ve ever seen. Max is so good, almost flawless.”

Ayrton Senna remains one of Formula 1’s most revered names—a three-time champion whose raw pace and fearless commitment defined an era. Verstappen has often been measured against the Brazilian legend, especially given his similar ability to extract lap time beyond the car’s expected limits.

With the 2025 championship still alive, Max Verstappen’s form once again evokes that Senna-like edge under pressure. The Dutchman has made a remarkable comeback post-summer, overcoming a deficit of over 100 points to both McLarens after the Dutch GP. He has now cut that lead to 35 points heading into the final four races.

Lando Norris leads the standings with 357 points, with teammate Oscar Piastri just one point behind on 356. Verstappen sits third on 321, keeping his hopes of a fifth title mathematically alive despite McLaren’s dominant MCL39 package.

Johansson believes that even if Max Verstappen doesn’t win this year, he has “made this championship a lot more interesting.”

### Adrian Newey Praises Max Verstappen’s Maturity and Ayrton Senna’s Curiosity

Adrian Newey, who worked with Max Verstappen throughout Red Bull’s dominant run, echoed similar sentiments from a different vantage point. The legendary engineer, who moved to Aston Martin earlier this year, credited Verstappen’s growth as both a driver and a professional.

Newey also reflected on Ayrton Senna, another driver he regarded as “outstanding.” During their brief collaboration at Williams in 1994, Senna’s technical understanding stood out.

“He got to the wind tunnel and straight away, he was down on his hands and knees, looking at the back at the rear suspension, spotted that that was a bit different to anything that had been done before, asking all about it. I needed to be on my toes to answer his questions. So I think Ayrton, without doubt, was outstanding.”

That curiosity, Newey said, was a mark of Senna’s genius—one that he now believes echoes, albeit differently, in Max Verstappen’s laser-focused drive.

“Max, now I think, is absolutely outstanding as well. He’s not had the easiest upbringing, I don’t think that’s a secret, but his maturity is amazing.”

Newey’s admiration carries significant weight, given that Verstappen has won all four of his world titles in Red Bull cars built under his technical leadership. Those championships have defined the modern era, just like Senna’s dominance in the early ’90s.

The Dutchman has since moved into third place on the all-time podium list, trailing only Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton.
