RBI to auction government securities worth Rs 28,000 crore on October 10

According to a recent government notification, the government may accept further subscriptions of up to Rs 2,000 crore per security. The sale will be conducted through the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Mumbai Office, utilizing its Core Banking Solution e-Kuber system.

The auction will use a multiple-price mechanism, allowing both competitive and non-competitive bids. Non-competitive bids will be accepted between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on October 10, while competitive bids will be taken from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on the same day. The auction results will be announced on October 10, and successful bidders must make their payments by Monday, October 13.

Primary Dealers can submit bids for underwriting the Additional Competitive Underwriting (ACU) portion between 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on the day of the auction, October 10.

Additionally, the securities will be eligible for “When Issued” trading from October 7 to October 10, 2025.

As reported by news agency ANI, the auction process differs depending on the type of security. For multiple price-based auctions, successful bids are accepted at their respective quoted yield or price. In contrast, for uniform price-based auctions, all accepted bids are settled at the cutoff yield or price.

The RBI has stated that auctions will be yield-based for new securities and price-based for reissued securities. In the case of Floating Rate Bonds (FRBs), the auction will be spread-based for new securities and price-based for reissues. When placing bids for new FRBs, bidders should quote the spread in percentage terms.

Furthermore, the RBI release highlights that securities will be issued in a minimum amount of Rs 10,000 and in multiples of Rs 10,000 thereafter.

To summarize the key timings:

– ACU portion underwriting bids by Primary Dealers: 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on October 10
– Non-competitive bids: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on October 10
– Competitive bids: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on October 10
– Auction results announcement: October 10
– Payment due by winning bidders: October 13

This issuance reflects the continued efforts by the government and RBI to maintain transparent and efficient debt markets through advanced auction mechanisms.

Firefighters fight “dangerous” funding cuts

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is at risk of losing eight fire engines and two fire stations under new proposals put forward by the local fire authority, according to the Fire Brigades Union.

The union claims the Bucks fire service has already undergone some of the most severe cuts in the country, losing over a third of its firefighters between 2010 and 2024. Any further reductions, they warn, would seriously undermine public safety.

Mitch Wallace, the union’s secretary for Buckinghamshire, called for a renewed focus on securing investment to rebuild the service and to recruit and retain more firefighters. He emphasised that current fire crew shortages “put lives at risk.”

Chris Wycherley, a member of the union’s council for the broader Southern region, echoed these concerns. He argued that fire services “have been hollowed out by systemic underfunding and short-sighted mismanagement.” Wycherley added, “Every closure and every cut leaves communities more vulnerable and erodes response standards further.” He called for more investment and sustained funding to “keep firefighters and the public safe” and to avoid “a dangerous race to the bottom.”

Union general secretary Steve Wright pointed to a recent incident this summer when firefighters from across the country were called to the South Coast to help tackle a wildfire, highlighting the strain caused “due to a lack of resources.” He warned that losing resources locally not only threatens the safety of residents but also impacts fire coverage nationwide. Wright stressed, “Cuts kill,” and called for “an end to this dangerous austerity.”

The Fire Brigades Union continues to urge the local fire authority and government to reconsider the proposed cuts in order to maintain vital emergency services and protect communities across Buckinghamshire.

Luxembourg’s crown passes to Guillaume after Henri’s abdication

Luxembourg’s Grand Duke Henri abdicated his throne on Friday in favour of his son, Guillaume. Henri, 70, served the tiny duchy in the heart of Europe for 25 years in a largely symbolic role.

Guillaume, 43, was crowned in a ceremony before he greeted the public atop a balcony of the Grand Ducal Palace with the royal family at his side. Present were his wife, the Belgian-born Countess Stephanie de Lannoy, and their sons, Charles, 5, and Francois, 2. Royals from the Netherlands and Belgium also attended the event.

Guillaume will be Luxembourg’s seventh Grand Duke since 1890, when the modern monarchy was established.

A CivicSpace Conversation on Rural-Urban Powerbuilding

CivicSpace, a New America Chicago initiative, presents a virtual roundtable focused on finding common ground and powerbuilding across rural and urban spaces. This discussion will explore how rural and urban communities can better understand one another and work together to address shared civic challenges.

The roundtable will feature a moderated dialogue followed by an opportunity for questions from the audience.

While rural and urban communities are often viewed as culturally and politically opposed, many face parallel struggles such as underinvestment in public infrastructure, unequal access to public services, weakened democratic institutions, and exclusion from policy processes. Yet, there are few spaces where rural and urban leaders can come together to explore common ground, exchange experiences, and uncover shared priorities.

**Speakers:**
– Daniel Ash, Executive Director of the Field Foundation
– Loka Ashwood, Sociologist and MacArthur Fellow
– Catherine Coleman Flowers, Founder of the Center for Rural Enterprise and Environmental Justice (CREEJ) and MacArthur Fellow

Join us for an insightful conversation aimed at bridging divides and fostering collaboration between rural and urban communities.

WATCH: Democrat Senator’s Attempt to Gaslight Americans on Illegal Aliens and the Govt. Shutdown Blows Up in Her Face When Fox News’s Lawrence Jones Reveals a Damning Video Clip

The Democratic Party’s ill-advised shutdown of the federal government continues to backfire spectacularly, with the latest humiliation unfolding this week.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the so-called “Schumer Shutdown” took effect at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday after two measures aimed at averting the government shutdown failed in the Senate. Both measures required 60 votes to pass. The GOP-backed measure fell short with a 55-45 vote, notably with Senator Rand Paul voting alongside the Democrats.

The Democratic Party and Paul appeared to prioritize providing health care to illegal immigrants and other unrelated issues over keeping the government running.

On Thursday, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) appeared on Fox & Friends to insist that Democrats do not support giving health care to illegal immigrants. “I haven’t heard anybody in my party saying illegal immigrants should get access to the health insurance market!” Shaheen claimed.

However, Fox & Friends co-host Lawrence Jones had a surprise ready. He presented footage of several prominent Democrats stating the exact opposite.

“I’m so glad you said that,” Jones replied. “Actually, I have some tape of your Democratic Party members saying this on the debate stage. Let’s play the clip.”

The footage showed a June 2019 Democratic Presidential Primary Debate where every candidate raised their hand when moderator Savannah Guthrie asked if their health care plans would cover illegal immigrants.

“That’s literally every member of your party, from moderate to more progressive, who have said that,” Jones explained.

Once again, a Democratic narrative was debunked on the spot. Well played, Lawrence Jones.
