“Winning eight consecutive matches was the best moment” – Patna Pirates’ star reflects on the team’s stellar comeback in Pro Kabaddi 2025 [Exclusive]

**Ayan Lohchab Reflects on Patna Pirates’ Spectacular Comeback in Pro Kabaddi 2025**

Patna Pirates’ star raider Ayan Lohchab recently shared his thoughts on what he considers the best moment of the Pro Kabaddi 2025 season. Despite a challenging start, the Pirates staged an incredible turnaround to qualify for the Playoffs and advance all the way to Eliminator 3. Although they eventually fell short of making the final, losing to the Telugu Titans in the third Eliminator, their journey was nothing short of remarkable.

At one point in the season, the Patna Pirates were at the bottom of the league standings and on the brink of elimination. However, they defied the odds by winning five consecutive games to claw their way into the top eight, finishing seventh after the league stage. The Pirates didn’t stop there—they went on to win their first Play-in match and both Eliminator 1 and Eliminator 2, making it eight consecutive victories.

Reflecting on this historic run, Ayan Lohchab said in an exclusive interaction with Sportskeeda,
*”I think winning eight consecutive matches was the best moment for me. I don’t think any team would have won these many matches in a row. It was a very good comeback and this was the best moment.”*

The Pirates’ season began on a rocky note, winning only three out of their first ten games. Speaking about the turnaround, Ayan credited the team’s coach and management for their unwavering support throughout the campaign.

*”In the beginning, the team and the defense didn’t do well. We didn’t start well. Then our defense started working well, and the raiding team was doing well. So, our team made a comeback. And the coach and management also supported us, so it felt very good,”* he remarked.

He further added,
*”This is the thing—on our comeback and knowing we can bounce back from anywhere. Our management was very good. There was a lot of support from the team. We were winning 8 consecutive matches. We kept on playing. They kept on asking us to play our game. We didn’t have any pressure from the team. They kept on asking us to play our game.”*

Ayan Lohchab was instrumental in the Pirates’ resurgence, finishing the season as the best raider with 316 raid points from 22 matches, including 16 Super 10s.

Regarding the team’s ability to win consecutive high-pressure games, Ayan highlighted their fitness and mental strength. The Pirates faced multiple back-to-back matches during their winning streak, which demanded both physical endurance and resilience.

*”We had a very good camp. I think our team was the most fit. We played a lot of back-to-back matches. We worked well on it, that is why we could play so many games back-to-back, which were also do-or-die matches,”* he explained.

Despite his standout individual performances, Ayan emphasized that the team’s collective effort was the key to their success. He pointed out that personal achievements meant little unless the entire team performed as a cohesive unit.

Once again, he praised the coach and management for maintaining trust in the players even during the losing streak and for allowing them the freedom to play their natural game without pressure.

As the Patna Pirates look ahead, this inspiring comeback stands as a testament to their determination, teamwork, and the vital support system behind the scenes.

Gyanesh Kumar-led ECI team visits Patna, poll dates expected soon

**Gyanesh Kumar-led ECI Team Visits Patna; Bihar Poll Dates Expected Soon**

*By Snehil Singh | October 4, 2025, 1:06 PM*

A delegation from the Election Commission of India (ECI), headed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, is currently in Patna to review preparations for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. The team also includes Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

As part of their visit, an all-party meeting with representatives from the 12 recognized political parties is underway at the Taj Hotel, chaired by CEC Kumar. This meeting serves as a platform to discuss the election process and ensure smooth conduct of the polls.

### Election Preparations Underway

The ECI traditionally visits the state just days before announcing the election schedule. With the Bihar Assembly’s term concluding on November 22, the elections must be held before that date. Ahead of the team’s visit, the ECI briefed General, Police, and Expenditure Observers who will act as Central Observers for these elections, as well as some upcoming by-elections.

### Observer Briefing and Their Role

A total of 425 officers, including IAS, IPS, and IRS personnel, participated in a detailed briefing held at IIIDEM in New Delhi. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar described these observers as “the beacons of democracy,” underlining their critical role in ensuring free and fair elections.

He urged the observers to thoroughly familiarize themselves with all election laws and remain accessible to political parties, candidates, and voters for grievance redressal throughout the electoral process.

### Constitutional Mandate for Central Observers

The ECI appoints Central Observers under Article 324 of the Constitution and Section 20B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. These observers are vital in maintaining transparency and effective management of elections on the ground.

### Poll Dates Expected Shortly

Although the official dates for Bihar’s Assembly elections have not yet been announced, sources suggest the ECI is likely to declare them on October 6 or 7. With the preparatory groundwork in place, Bihar is gearing up for a crucial electoral exercise in the coming weeks.
