Lane Kiffin Announcement Could Come Before Egg Bowl: Report

Typically the days leading up to college football Rivalry Week games are spent with analysts debating which teams will emerge victorious from the top annual series including The Game (Ohio State vs. Michigan), the Iron Bowl (Alabama vs. Auburn), the Egg Bowl (Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State), and the Governor’s Cup (Kentucky vs. Louisville). But this season is different. While there’s still some strong matchups to watch during the final week of the college football regular season, the storyline that has everyone’s attention is what will happen with Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin. The 50-year-old Kiffin has the Rebels ranked No. 6 in the country and in prime position to be one of the higher seeds in the College Football Playoff. But the question on everyone’s mind is will Kiffin stick around to coach Ole Miss in the CFP? Kiffin is set to decide whether he wants to stay in Oxford and likely ink a new lucrative long-term contract with Ole Miss or take up either LSU or Florida on their offers to make him their next head coach. More News: Surprise Candidate Suddenly Surges as Favorite for Penn State Job More News: College Football Team Fires Head Coach After Embarrassing 21-Point Loss While it was initially reported that Kiffin will decide which school he wants to coach at on Saturday, the day after the Egg Bowl, a new report from Pete Nakos of On3 indicates that Kiffin’s decision could actually come sooner than that. “Sources at Ole Miss have said clarity on Kiffin’s future could come on Wednesday or Thursday, but nothing is expected to be formally announced until Saturday,” Nakos wrote, before hinting fans might know Kiffin’s decision before then. “I won’t be surprised to see something leak on Friday morning,” a source told Nakos. LSU is reportedly prepared to offer Kiffin a $98 million contract that comes with a $25 million investment in NIL and recruiting. On3 reported that both Florida and Ole Miss plan to match whatever LSU offers Kiffin, meaning money won’t be the determining factor in his decision.

Vince McMahon stuns everyone with a new look at recent public appearance; WWE veteran reacts (Exclusive)

Vince McMahon has largely stayed out of the public eye since stepping away from WWE. However, the 80-year-old recently made a surprising public appearance that stunned fans and wrestling veterans alike, including Vince Russo.

McMahon was involved in a car accident in July and was subsequently charged with reckless driving. He appeared in court for a hearing regarding the incident on October 16 in Stamford, Connecticut. During the hearing, the judge ruled that McMahon could enter a pretrial program to resolve the case.

Photos and footage of Vince McMahon from the hearing showed a noticeably different look, leaving many people stunned. Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s *Writing with Russo* podcast, Vince Russo commented on McMahon’s appearance, saying he looked better than he had in a long time.

> “He does not look bad. So I am thinking in my mind, the stages we have seen of Vince, maybe he just went through cosmetic surgery or whatever he did, and maybe they needed time to heal. I am telling you, bro, I just saw the footage, and I am like, ‘That’s the best I have seen him look in a long time,’” Russo said.

**WWE Hall of Famer Predicts New Project from Vince McMahon**

Since leaving WWE a few years ago, Vince McMahon has remained largely off the wrestling radar. However, WWE Hall of Famer JBL believes the 80-year-old could be working on a new project, possibly a book.

“I think there is probably a 99 to 100 percent chance. Unless something happens — there is nothing 100 percent, but as close to 100 percent as you can get — in the next, I would say, one to two years, you’re going to get a book,” JBL said. “I have a feeling it’s going to be beyond belief. I have a feeling it will be raw and completely, no hiding or anything. I think Vince is going to let everything out. I think it’s going to be one of the best books ever written. I can’t wait to read it.”

JBL added that he expects McMahon to put every detail of his life into the book, including the more embarrassing moments:

> “I have a feeling Vince is going to put every single detail in there, embarrassing or not, and I have a feeling it’s going to be one of the craziest things. I’ve told people for so long, if people knew the real Vince, they would not believe it. They would think it’s fiction,” he said.

**A Legacy Marked by Success and Controversy**

Vince McMahon played a pivotal role in transforming professional wrestling and elevating WWE to unprecedented heights. However, his tenure with the company ended on a controversial note after allegations of sexual misconduct forced him to step down from his leadership positions.

Klay Thompson Thinks Dallas Mavericks Have First-Time All-Star

The Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs entered the season with roughly the same expectations. However, after just one game, it’s clear that the Mavericks are already lagging behind. In their season opener, Dallas suffered a heavy 125-92 loss to the Spurs.

Victor Wembanyama led the charge for San Antonio, delivering a dominant 40-point performance that exposed Dallas on both ends of the floor. Meanwhile, Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg struggled, managing an inefficient ten-point effort. Despite Flagg’s underwhelming showing, fans and teammates remain optimistic about his potential.

### Mavericks to Rely on PJ Washington’s Breakout

Klay Thompson, however, believes another player is poised to step up for Dallas this season: PJ Washington. Quietly one of the better 3-and-D players in the league, Washington showed flashes of his potential in the opener against San Antonio. Last season, he averaged 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 38.1% from three-point range.

In the opener, Washington contributed 17 efficient points and played his role well, even as San Antonio outpaced Dallas. Thompson expressed high hopes for Washington’s development:

“There are so many great players on this roster,” Thompson told CBS. “I think PJ has All-Star potential. I really do.”

Though the Mavericks are headlined by Thompson, Cooper Flagg, and Anthony Davis, success in the competitive Western Conference will require key role players to evolve into stars. Thompson elaborated on Washington’s value:

“I really believe PJ can be one of the better two-way players in the NBA. There aren’t many players who can do what PJ does as far as guarding one through five, scoring from the outside, scoring on the interior, rebounding on both ends of the court. Very excited for him. I think he has another level to get to.”

### Dallas Mavericks Need to Bounce Back

The loss to the Spurs was clinical — even embarrassing. Wembanyama was unstoppable, Stephon Castle added 22 points, and De’Aaron Fox didn’t even suit up. Dallas entered the season with high hopes of contending for a title. After one game, those hopes are far from dashed, but it’s evident that Cooper Flagg still has a lot of development ahead, the defense needs to tighten up, and roster depth remains a concern.

If Washington can emerge as a reliable 20-point scorer and become one of the league’s better defenders, Thompson’s optimistic prediction might just come true. For now, the Mavericks face an uphill battle as they look to build chemistry and improve across the board. Fans will be watching closely to see if this promising squad can rise to the challenge in what’s shaping up to be a tough Western Conference season.
