PMYP-Qalandars’ journey to discover Pakistan’s future cricket stars continues

When we talk about cricket in Pakistan, we talk about passion, dreams, and an undying love that transcends generations. From the narrow streets of Jhelum to the bustling grounds of Peshawar, cricket is more than just a game—it is a language every child understands.

The Prime Minister Youth Program (PMYP)-Lahore Qalandars Cricket Talent Hunt is giving this passion a direction, a structure, and most importantly, a future. This landmark initiative, led by Lahore Qalandars under the umbrella of PMYP, is no ordinary campaign. It is a national movement aimed at discovering, nurturing, and empowering the next generation of cricketing stars.

Recently, the caravan of talent hunt trials made its way through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with stops in Kohat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar. Before that, the energy of Sialkot and Jhelum had already set the stage, proving that our youth are ready to grab opportunities with both hands.

What makes this programme truly special is not just the numbers—though thousands of boys and girls thronged the trials with unmatched energy—it is the intent. These are not random camps or short-lived events; this is a well-thought-out, professionally managed setup, guided by Lahore Qalandars’ experienced coaches and support staff.

The trials have been meticulously designed to provide fair, transparent, and structured opportunities to every participant, regardless of background, city, or resources. These trials are more than a hunt for fast bowlers, batsmen, or all-rounders. They symbolize hope: hope for a young boy in Kohat who dreams of bowling the fastest ball in the world, hope for a girl in Abbottabad who wants to represent Pakistan on the international stage, and hope for families who believe that cricket can change their destinies.

One cannot overlook the vision behind this initiative. Lahore Qalandars CEO Atif Rana has rightly acknowledged the extraordinary support from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). Without their commitment, such a massive and inclusive program would not have been possible.

Their combined effort sends out a powerful message: that Pakistan’s youth matter, and their dreams deserve platforms as grand as this.

The recent trials in Kohat, Abbottabad, and Peshawar were nothing short of festivals. Youngsters arrived with their kits, eyes gleaming with ambition, and hearts pounding with excitement. The discipline and determination they displayed were a reminder of the deep cricketing roots in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The same spirit was visible earlier in Sialkot and Jhelum, where the response was equally overwhelming. In fact, the Jhelum trials gained international recognition when US Charge d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker graced the occasion, highlighting the global relevance of such initiatives. Federal Minister Bilal Kiyani’s presence further underlined the government’s commitment.

The beauty of these trials lies in the inclusivity. For the first time in a long while, both boys and girls are being given equal opportunities to showcase their skills under professional supervision. This is not only redefining the future of cricket in Pakistan but also challenging long-held stereotypes about women in sports. The fact that thousands of girls have stepped forward to participate is itself a historic achievement.

For years, we have complained about the lack of grassroots structures, the absence of systematic talent grooming, and the wasted potential in remote areas. Today, through the PMYP-Lahore Qalandars collaboration, we are finally addressing those gaps.

Some of the youngsters in these trials will one day shine on the international stage, just like Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and other stars unearthed by Lahore Qalandars in the past. The raw talent is already there; it only needs to be polished, guided, and given the right exposure.

The journey, of course, is far from over. The trials will soon move to Swat, Mardan, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit. If the response so far is any indication, the upcoming stops will see an even greater wave of participation. This continuity ensures that no corner of Pakistan is left out, and every child with a dream gets a fair chance.

The progress of these trials truly symbolizes a new dawn for Pakistan cricket. This initiative goes far beyond the mere selection of a handful of players; it is about cultivating a culture where raw talent is discovered, nurtured, and celebrated.

It is about instilling in our youth the unshakable belief that with hard work, discipline, and the right opportunities, their dreams can be transformed into reality.

The PMYP-Lahore Qalandars Talent Hunt is, in every sense, a cricketing revolution in motion—a movement that is rewriting the narrative of grassroots development in Pakistan. With such visionary steps, we can confidently affirm that the future of Pakistan cricket is not only bright and secure but destined to shine with unmatched brilliance.

Mithun Manhas emerges as front-runner for BCCI president post: Report

**Mithun Manhas Emerges as Front-Runner for BCCI President Post: Report**

*By Gaurav Tripathi | Sep 21, 2025, 07:51 AM*

Former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas has emerged as the leading candidate for the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). According to Cricbuzz, the final decision is expected to be announced on Sunday morning, just hours before the nomination deadline.

**Election Details and Nominations**

Manhas has been nominated by the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) for the upcoming BCCI election and Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for September 28. Despite facing competition from notable contenders such as Sourav Ganguly and Harbhajan Singh, Manhas has solidified his position as a strong candidate.

Former Indian Test cricketer Raghuram Bhatt is also in the fray and is expected to arrive in Mumbai on Sunday to file his nomination.

**Strategic Discussions Ahead of the Polls**

A key meeting in New Delhi on Saturday saw the presence of BCCI office-bearers and former officials, who deliberated on potential office-bearers for the upcoming elections. A source close to the meeting revealed that there is a 90% chance of Manhas being chosen as the next BCCI president.

While Bhatt is likely to secure a spot on the apex council, Arun Dhumal is anticipated to continue his role as IPL chairman. The final round of discussions will take place Sunday morning, just before nominations close in the afternoon.

**Profile: Mithun Manhas**

Mithun Manhas, 45, boasts an impressive domestic cricket career spanning 18 years from 1998 to 2016. He played 157 first-class matches, amassing nearly 10,000 runs at an average of around 46. He captained Delhi to the prestigious Ranji Trophy title during the 2007-08 season.

Although Manhas never represented India at the international level, he was regarded as one of the most dependable players in domestic cricket. Off the field, he has gathered valuable administrative experience through his work with the JKCA and his participation in BCCI’s AGMs on behalf of his state.

As the countdown to the elections continues, Mithun Manhas appears poised to take on a pivotal role in shaping the future of Indian cricket administration.

Ryder Cup: Team USA Warned of Abuse From Home Crowd Over $500K Pay

In just one week, golf’s fiercest rivalry returns to American soil with Team Keegan Bradley and Team Luke Donald facing off once again. This time, the battleground is New York’s renowned Bethpage Black course.

Bethpage Black is famous for its noisy, unapologetic fans, and Team Europe has already taken steps to prepare for the inevitable chaos. Players have been equipped with personalized VR headsets loaded with crowd noise and verbal abuse tailored to each individual, helping them mentally brace for the intense atmosphere.

However, it turns out that Team USA may not be immune to scrutiny either. Former Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart, who famously faced Tiger Woods in singles at Brookline in 1999, warns that the American squad could face backlash from their own fans if things start to go wrong early.

This year’s event carries added pressure due to the controversial payouts involved. Each member of Team USA will receive $500,000, with $300,000 designated for charity and the remaining $200,000 as a personal stipend. Coltart isn’t convinced this financial incentive will boost motivation.

“What does the $200,000 do to them?” Coltart told bunkered.co.uk. “Is that going to make you a little bit more determined to do a little bit extra practice in the morning or what? I don’t get it. Potentially it could harm them. Again, as it pretty much did in 1999 when I played.”

He recalled how payment demands stirred controversy back then and fears history could repeat itself. This time, Coltart believes the passionate New York crowd won’t hesitate to turn on their own players if expectations aren’t met.

“They wanted $100,000 and, you know, the punter who pays to go and watch the Ryder Cup, they want their team to just absolutely give it their all. They deflected that by saying, ‘oh, well, it’s for charity.’ So, OK, fine. But now, again, they have to get this sort of financial remuneration for it, which I guess is the difference between Europe and America. If they’re getting paid and they don’t turn up, good God, you know, the New York crowd will go after them.”

Coltart didn’t hold back when discussing the pressure Bradley’s team could face. “It could almost turn into an away game for them. If they don’t get off to a fast start, you know, and you can see the headlines, if so-and-so doesn’t play that well or gets beaten by a pairing that they expect they should have won, the American crowd in that area are going to try and eat them alive.”

It’s not just the players being cautioned. Reports indicate that Team Europe’s WAGs have been advised to stay off the course during play. With emotions expected to run high, the Bethpage crowd is unlikely to hold back when the pressure hits.

Golf fans everywhere can expect an electric atmosphere as this legendary rivalry unfolds once again on American soil. Stay tuned for what promises to be a thrilling showdown at Bethpage Black.

Mallorca vs Atletico Madrid Prediction and Betting Tips | 21st September 2025

The 2025-26 edition of La Liga is back in action this weekend, featuring an important encounter as Mallorca lock horns with Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix on Sunday. Both teams have experienced contrasting fortunes over the past year and will be eager to secure a win in this matchup.

### Mallorca vs Atletico Madrid Preview

Mallorca currently sit in 19th place in the La Liga standings and have struggled to make a significant impact so far this season. The home side suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat at the hands of Espanyol last week and will need to work hard to bounce back in this fixture.

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, are positioned 11th in the league table at the moment. The team has been inconsistent throughout the season. In their previous game, Los Colchoneros faced a 3-2 defeat against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League and will be looking to prove their mettle this weekend.

### Mallorca vs Atletico Madrid Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

Atletico Madrid boast an excellent recent record against Mallorca, having won 17 of the last 35 matches played between the two sides, compared to Mallorca’s nine victories.

Notably, Mallorca have won six of their last 11 home matches against Atletico Madrid in La Liga — matching the number of wins they had achieved in the 19 such games prior to this run.

Atletico Madrid have won each of their last five La Liga encounters against Mallorca and have a chance to secure six consecutive victories against them for only the second time in the history of the competition.

Additionally, Mallorca have failed to find the back of the net in their last four La Liga matches against Atletico Madrid, highlighting the defensive strength of the visitors.

### Mallorca vs Atletico Madrid Prediction

Atletico Madrid have yet to hit their stride this season and cannot afford any slip-ups going into this game. Marcos Llorente, who scored a brace in the previous match, will be looking to make an impact once again this weekend.

Meanwhile, Mallorca have fallen short of expectations and will need to be at their very best to challenge Atletico. Given the current form and head-to-head statistics, Atletico Madrid appear to be the stronger side and are expected to secure the victory.

**Prediction:** Mallorca 1-3 Atletico Madrid

### Mallorca vs Atletico Madrid Betting Tips

Bruno Fernandes completes 100 goals for Manchester United: Key stats

**Bruno Fernandes Completes 100 Goals for Manchester United: Key Stats**

*By Rajdeep Saha | Sep 20, 2025, 10:45 pm*

Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes has reached a remarkable milestone, completing 100 goals for the club. He achieved this feat during a crucial Premier League contest against Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The match saw Chelsea reduced to 10 men early on in Matchday 5. Taking advantage of the numerical advantage, Manchester United steadily built pressure. Fernandes secured his landmark goal from a precise cross by Patrick Dorgu across the face of the goal.

After a lengthy VAR check for a potential offside, the goal was ultimately awarded, confirming Fernandes’ 100th strike for the Red Devils.

DJ Moore or David Montgomery: Who should I start in Fantasy Football Week 3?

**DJ Moore vs. David Montgomery: Who Should You Start in Fantasy Football Week 3?**

DJ Moore and David Montgomery stand out as two excellent flex options for fantasy football in Week 3. The Chicago Bears’ wide receiver and the Detroit Lions’ running back will face off against two defenses that have struggled to contain their respective positions, potentially opening the door for big performances. Whether you prefer wide receivers or running backs in your flex spot, either player could be a viable choice. However, this article aims to help you decide who should claim that coveted lineup spot.

### DJ Moore Fantasy Outlook for Week 3

After a slow start to the 2024 season, DJ Moore is eager to bounce back in his second year with Caleb Williams under center. So far, Moore has recorded eight receptions on 11 targets for 114 yards, but he has yet to find the end zone. His production has drawn criticism, especially following the Bears’ 52-21 Week 2 loss to the Detroit Lions.

Coach Ben Johnson has emphasized a focus on players’ efforts when the ball isn’t in their hands, and some fans feel Moore may be slipping in that regard. However, there is cause for optimism. The Dallas Cowboys have allowed a significant number of fantasy points to wide receivers this season, which could give Moore an opportunity to shine in Week 3.

### David Montgomery Fantasy Outlook for Week 3

David Montgomery’s production also dipped entering 2024. After rushing for 1,105 yards on 219 carries in 2023, Montgomery managed 775 yards on 185 carries last year. His start to the current season has been modest as well, with 22 rushes for 82 yards and one touchdown through two games.

Meanwhile, Jahmyr Gibbs has emerged as the Lions’ primary running back, outpacing Montgomery’s Week 2 output (94 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown). Despite this, the Baltimore Ravens have allowed an average of 19 fantasy points per game to running backs — a positive sign for Montgomery’s Week 3 outlook.

### DJ Moore vs. David Montgomery: Final Verdict

Choosing between DJ Moore and David Montgomery is a tough call. According to Sportskeeda’s fantasy analyzer, Moore holds a slight edge, outperforming Montgomery by just 0.1 fantasy points.

However, with Rome Odunze gaining traction as a key target for Caleb Williams and Baltimore struggling to contain opposing running backs, the Monday night matchup could be an ideal stage for Montgomery. As defenses focus on Jahmyr Gibbs, Montgomery may have the chance to exploit Baltimore’s weaknesses and help lead the Lions to their second victory of the early NFL season.

**In summary:** If you prefer a slightly safer play, DJ Moore might be your pick given his target volume. But if you’re looking for a potential breakout fueled by a favorable matchup, David Montgomery could be the flex option to start in Week 3.

How to Watch Michigan vs Nebraska: Live Stream NCAA College Football, TV Channel

Nebraska (3-0) plays host to No. 21 Michigan (2-1) on Saturday as it looks to snap a streak of 27 straight losses against ranked opponents.

**Date:** Saturday, September 20, 2025
**Time:** 6:00 PM EDT
**Location:** Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, Nebraska
**Channel:** CBS
**Stream:** Fubo (Watch for free)

Almost a decade has passed since Nebraska last defeated a ranked opponent. This Saturday, No. 21 Michigan has the pleasure of visiting Memorial Stadium, looking to extend its dominance with a fifth straight win over the Cornhuskers in their recent meetings.

Nebraska currently boasts a strong 3-0 record heading into the Lincoln showdown, while Michigan stands at 2-1 so far this season. That lone loss for the Wolverines came against John Mateer’s Oklahoma squad, which makes it a more understandable setback.

The Cornhuskers’ fall from grace over the years has been well-documented, while Michigan is navigating its own transition under second-year head coach Sherrone Moore. Despite the loss to Oklahoma by 11 points, the Wolverines performed well in convincing victories over New Mexico (34-17) and Central Michigan (63-3).

It wouldn’t be a complete shock if underdog Nebraska managed to end its drought of wins against ranked opponents while maintaining its perfect record in front of a sell-out home crowd at Memorial Stadium.

Last year, head coach Matt Rhule faced a similar Week 4 opportunity but fell short with a 3-1 record after losing to Illinois. This season, he and his team hope they have learned from those mistakes and are ready to rise to the challenge.
