“Alexander Zverev says, ‘No, f**k that bro'” – Andy Roddick reacts to German ignoring Carlos Alcaraz’s advice during devastating Laver Cup loss

The 2025 Laver Cup saw Team Europe, featuring World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, No. 3 Alexander Zverev, and No. 12 Casper Ruud, lose the title to Team World. Team World’s lineup included No. 5 Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, among others. The eighth edition of the Laver Cup was held at the Chase Center in San Francisco, United States, from September 19 to 21, 2025.

Team World, captained by Andre Agassi, secured its third Laver Cup title by defeating Team Europe in a highly competitive showdown.

### Andy Roddick Reacts to Zverev Ignoring Alcaraz’s Advice

During a recent episode of the podcast *Served with Andy Roddick*, hosted by Jon Wertheim and Mike Hayden, tennis legend Andy Roddick shared his thoughts on Alexander Zverev choosing not to follow Carlos Alcaraz’s in-match advice during the tournament.

Roddick said,
“I think it’s interesting also Carlos (Alcaraz) comes over and he could tell Zverev (Alexander) like, ‘Oh, I would hit a forehand 110 and then I would hit a drop shot floater.’ And then Zverev goes, ‘No, f*** that, bro.’ Casper (Ruud), I don’t know that I have that one, Carlitos. Can we get Casper over here? He kind of resides. Yeah, there’s a hugging the baseline deficit with Casper also.” (30:26 onwards)

He continued,
“Can you come here and tell me what you would do? But I think that’s the magic of it, right? Like I don’t know that I would automatically source the opinion of the best player, right? Because maybe the way they view it is more difficult.”

### Alexander Zverev’s Career and Upcoming Tournaments

Throughout his impressive career, Alexander Zverev has won 24 ATP Tour singles titles and two doubles titles.

Next up, the German star is set to compete at the 2025 China Open, an ATP 500 event taking place at the National Tennis Center in Beijing from September 25 to October 1, 2025. Zverev is seeded second for the tournament, with Jannik Sinner opting not to participate.

This edition marks the 24th men’s China Open, with defending champion Carlos Alcaraz looking to retain his title.

In the round of 32, Zverev will face former Italian player Lorenzo Sonego. Additionally, in the men’s doubles category, Zverev will team up with Brazilian Marcelo Melo. The pair will take on Cameron Norrie and Yunchaokete Bu in the first round.

Mikel Arteta hits back at accusation that his Arsenal approach is too cautious

A defiant Mikel Arteta has hit back at critics who have claimed his cautious tactics are threatening to derail Arsenal’s bid to win the Premier League.

Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher both accused Arteta of selecting an overly defensive team following Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Emirates on Sunday. Notably, Arsenal’s marquee summer signing Eberechi Eze was dropped to the bench despite the absence of Martin Odegaard. Instead, Martin Zubimendi, Declan Rice, and Mikel Merino formed a midfield three.

Addressing criticism that he approaches big matches with the “handbrake on,” Arteta responded:

“Surprised? In football? I don’t think I’m surprised by anything. I don’t read it, but if you tell me that this is the main narrative, I’d be extremely surprised given my knowledge and how I analyse a football game.

Because it was impossible for somebody to predict such dominance from Arsenal throughout 96 minutes — something that never happened in 17 years of Pep Guardiola as a manager. So if the narrative goes somewhere else and we’re talking about dominance, how can you be dominant against such a team if you have, what was the word? Handbrake. Dominance and handbrake are two different words. But I accept everything. I will learn more to have a different vision.”

Arsenal trailed 1-0 at the interval, with Eze brought on to replace Merino, while Bukayo Saka was also introduced at the break in place of the injured Noni Madueke. On Tuesday, Arteta confirmed that the England international faces a period on the sidelines with a knee injury.

“I respect everybody’s opinion, but when I watched everything back and saw all the stats, I was surprised. I don’t think one player makes that big of a difference when you see the behaviour of our team,” Arteta added.

“We played Ebz on the right-hand side. Could he play 90 minutes? That’s a question I asked myself because none of you know the load he can handle. So it’s easy to say he could have played from the start — maybe not. He’d already played two games from the start and he’s never played as a right attacking midfielder before. So that’s another new element for him. But all good.”

Currently five points behind runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool after just five matches, Arsenal will face Port Vale in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. Madueke will be absent from Arteta’s travelling squad, but 15-year-old Max Dowman could make his first start for Arsenal. Meanwhile, former Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is set to replace David Raya.

On Madueke’s injury, Arteta said:

“He’s going to be out for a few weeks. We’ll probably have to do a scan again next week. He felt something at the beginning of the match against City, tried to carry on, but at half-time he was too sore.

It doesn’t look too bad. He was gutted, obviously. It’s very disappointing because he was in such good form and looked a real threat — so it’s a big miss for us.”

Asia Cup: Injury scare for Bangladesh as Litton Das struggles

**Asia Cup: Injury Scare for Bangladesh as Litton Das Struggles**

*By Gaurav Tripathi | Sep 23, 2025, 02:07 PM*

Bangladesh face a potential injury setback ahead of their crucial Super Four clash against India. Captain Litton Das suffered a back strain during a training session at the ICC Academy Ground on September 22.

The injury occurred when Litton felt discomfort on the left side of his waist while attempting a square cut in the nets. After experiencing the pain, he promptly withdrew from the session and was assessed by team physio Bayzid ul Islam.

### Medical Assessment Pending

A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official told Cricbuzz, “We will have a look at him (Litton) today because from outside he looks quite okay, but we need to conduct a medical assessment before making a final call.” Although Litton did not show major signs of discomfort after the incident, his absence in the upcoming match would be a significant blow for Bangladesh.

### Leadership Void for Bangladesh

If Litton Das is ruled out, Bangladesh could face a leadership crisis. The BCB has not yet named a deputy captain for the tournament, creating uncertainty about who would lead the side in his absence.

Despite this injury scare, Bangladesh started their Super Four campaign on a strong note, securing a convincing victory over Sri Lanka.

### Litton Das’s Form in the Tournament

Litton’s performance so far in the Asia Cup has been somewhat inconsistent. After a match-winning 59 against Hong Kong in Bangladesh’s opener, he scored 28 against Sri Lanka. However, he then managed just 9 runs versus Afghanistan and 23 in another game against Sri Lanka, showing a tendency to throw away his starts.

Bangladesh will be hoping for a speedy recovery for their captain as they prepare for their high-stakes encounter against India.

Is that Oscar? Images reveal the depth of humiliation Aussie was subjected to after Azerbijian disaster

World championship leader Oscar Piastri’s horror Azerbaijan Grand Prix was even worse than anybody thought. The Australian started Sunday’s race in ninth place after a disastrous display in qualifying on Saturday, and his fortunes failed to improve.

Piastri endured a nightmare start to the race when the lights went out. He jumped the start, slowed down, and then eventually got away again. That turn of events led to Piastri—who started the day 31 points clear at the top of the drivers’ standings—dropping all the way back to last place.

As he approached the fifth corner of the tight street circuit in Baku, the McLaren driver locked up and shunted straight into the barriers, bringing his race to a premature end. The crash also ended his remarkable 34-race streak of finishing Grand Prix events and handed his teammate Lando Norris a huge opportunity to make up some ground in the title race.

Photos have now emerged showing a stony-faced Piastri being forced to walk back to the pits alone after the crash. One F1 fan posted, “The hardest walk of his career.” Another commented, “Poor Oscar, that really is a walk of shame.” A third quipped, “Could have called an Uber.”

Piastri appeared frustrated when talking to the press following the event, blaming “silly mistakes.”

“It certainly was not my finest moment,” he told Sky Sports F1. “I just anticipated the start too much, and it was a silly, simple error with that. Then, the crash—I just didn’t anticipate the dirty air in the way I should have. I clearly went into the corner way too hot, and that was that.”

He didn’t mince his words when assessing his performance over the course of the weekend.

“Just more silly mistakes,” he added. “It was certainly a messy weekend for sure, but I would be more concerned if I was slow and trying to make up for it that way and having these errors because of that. But the fact that they’re just simple lapses in judgement… It’s not a position I want to be in or to put the mechanics in, because it has been a rough weekend for them. If I’m trying to find a silver lining, at least I have that.”

With his first world title looming on the horizon, Piastri wasn’t too worried about the gap between himself and Norris reducing to just 25 points.

“I’m not too concerned about that,” he said. “I’m solely focused on myself and what I can do to improve. There’s still a long way to go, and if you have good or bad weekends, the championship is far from over.”

Viral Story on Bills QB Josh Allen Finally Gets Set Straight

The Buffalo Bills are on a winning streak, and it feels great. They’re a perfect 3-0 heading into their fourth week of the season. With MVP-winning quarterback Josh Allen leading the charge, the Bills are always a high-profile team. But right now, they’re even more in the spotlight, as not many other NFL teams are enjoying this kind of success.

Following the Bills’ decisive win over the Miami Dolphins, several players have been making media appearances to discuss the state of the team. On Monday, September 22, Bills wide receiver Khalil Shakir spoke with Kay Adams on *Up & Adams* about the recent win, what makes Buffalo special this season, Allen, and all things NFL.

During the conversation, the topic shifted to some gossip about Josh Allen — gossip that Shakir quickly debunked. The moral of the story? Don’t believe everything you hear.

### Josh Allen Didn’t Take the Team on a Luxury Vacation

If you heard rumors about Allen taking his teammates on a lavish trip, those claims aren’t true.

The chatter started on Monday, September 19, when MLFootball tweeted that Allen was a class act for taking the entire team on a two-day trip to Costa Rica, supposedly at his own expense, according to Damar Hamlin. Reports said the trip cost at least a couple hundred thousand dollars.

NFL insider Dov Kleiman also chimed in on X (formerly Twitter), calling Allen a “role model” for taking the whole team on the Costa Rica trip, covering flights, food, and more, with an estimated cost of over $100,000.

While the idea of Allen treating his team to such a vacation is a nice thought and sparked plenty of positive reactions online, it turns out that the trip never actually happened.

### Khalil Shakir Sets the Record Straight

Speaking on *Up & Adams*, Shakir addressed the rumors directly. “Josh did not take 53 men for $100k,” he said. “I don’t know where you guys think they were staying — in a tent somewhere — for $100k for 53 men. That did not happen.”

### The Buffalo Bills Do Bond, Though

Although the Costa Rica trip story isn’t true, the Bills do have strong team chemistry and often find ways to bond outside of the game. Their success on the field this season reflects that unity and dedication.

As the Bills continue their impressive start to the year, fans can look forward to more exciting football — and hopefully, some real stories about the team’s camaraderie along the way.

Japan Open 2025: Where to watch, TV schedule, live streaming details and more

Carlos Alcaraz will lead the field at the 2025 Japan Open in the absence of defending champion Arthur Fils, who has withdrawn from the tournament due to a back injury. The ATP 500 event kicks off with main draw action on Wednesday, September 24.

Fils had claimed the title last year by defeating compatriot Ugo Humbert in the final. Humbert, who will be seeded sixth this year, is set to return to the tournament aiming for another strong showing.

Alcaraz will begin his campaign against Sebastian Baez. His quarter of the draw also features notable players such as Frances Tiafoe and Brandon Nakashima. In the top half, other seeds include Denis Shapovalov and Casper Ruud. Shapovalov will need to be on guard against Matteo Berrettini and Jaume Munar, while Ruud could face Daniel Altmaier.

Second seed Taylor Fritz opens his run against Gabriel Diallo. His potential path includes matchups against Nuno Borges and Tomas Machac in the second round and quarterfinals respectively. Also in the bottom half are Ugo Humbert and Holger Rune, who appear poised for a possible meeting. Hamad Medjedovic and Jenson Brooksby add further depth to this section of the draw.

Japanese tennis fans will have plenty to cheer for with wildcards Yosuke Watanuki and Yoshihito Nishioka granted entry into the main draw, adding local flavor to this year’s tournament.

Looking back, before Arthur Fils, the previous two editions were won by Ben Shelton (who defeated Aslan Karatsev) and Taylor Fritz (who overcame Frances Tiafoe). It is worth noting that the tournament was not held in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

With three titles, Stefan Edberg remains the most decorated champion in Japan Open history. Other multiple-time winners include former Japanese No. 1 Kei Nishikori, Pete Sampras, and Jim Courier.

### Where is the 2025 Ryder Cup being held?

Bethpage Black, the host of the 2025 Ryder Cup, is one of the most famous public golf courses in the United States. Located at Bethpage State Park in Long Island, New York, it is part of a five-course complex that includes the Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow layouts.

Designed in the 1930s by A. W. Tillinghast, the Black Course quickly gained a reputation for its difficulty and bold design. The course has hosted some of golf’s biggest championships, including the U.S. Open in 2002 and 2009, the 2019 PGA Championship, and PGA TOUR events such as The Barclays in 2012 and 2016.

With the 2025 Ryder Cup, Bethpage Black joins an elite group of courses that have hosted a U.S. Open, a PGA Championship, and now the biennial team event.

Known for its challenging layout, Bethpage Black features long par-4s, steep elevation changes, thick rough, and deep bunkers. A warning sign at the first tee famously advises that the course is recommended only for highly skilled golfers.

Despite its toughness, Bethpage Black remains accessible to the public, with green fees set well below private-club standards.
