Ousted Nepalese PM KP Sharma Oli says he won`t flee amid political turmoil

Former Prime Minister of Nepal and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has dismissed rumours that he plans to flee the country, accusing the current government of attempting to strip him of his security and official privileges, according to a report by Dhaka Tribune.

Speaking at a gathering of the party’s youth wing, Yuwa Sangh Nepal, in Gundu, Bhaktapur, Oli made it clear that he intends to stay and continue the political struggle. “Do you think we will flee by handing over the nation to this groundless government?” he asked his supporters. Oli emphasized his determination to “restore peace, good governance, and constitutional order.”

Oli recently vacated the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on September 9, following weeks of Gen Z-led protests that culminated in the fall of his government. Since then, he has relocated to a rented home in Gundu after his personal residence in Balkot was set on fire by demonstrators, Dhaka Tribune reported.

He accused the Sushila Karki-led administration of lacking legitimacy, claiming it rose to power not through the will of the people but through “vandalism and arson.” Oli also challenged the government to release any communications he had with state officials during the protests. “Publish them with courage. Make public the instructions I gave,” he said, suggesting he has nothing to hide.

Expressing concern over threats of fresh attacks, Oli criticized the government for failing to ensure his security. “On social media, there are open calls to attack my residence. What is the government doing? Just watching?” he questioned.

Oli also objected to reports that the government has decided to withhold passports of several leaders, including himself, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Arzu Rana Deuba, Ramesh Lekhak, and Deepak Khadka. The former prime minister accused the Karki government of “throwing the country into insecurity” by targeting political opponents, as reported by Dhaka Tribune.

Oli’s government was toppled on the second day of the Gen Z protests. Rights groups have held him and then-Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak responsible for the excessive use of force that resulted in dozens of deaths during the unrest.

A monitoring report by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) released on Friday stated that the government’s failure to anticipate the intensity of the protests and the declining morale of security forces contributed to heavy casualties and damage. The report noted that while the first day of protests on September 8 remained peaceful, police shootings triggered widespread violence the following day.

How to grow indoor plants on a budget

**How to Grow Indoor Plants on a Budget**
*By Anujj Trehaan | Sep 29, 2025, 10:37 AM*

Growing indoor plants on a budget can be both rewarding and economical. With a few simple tricks, you can create an environment conducive to plant growth without spending a fortune. From choosing the right containers to using natural fertilizers, these tips will help you cultivate a thriving indoor garden while keeping costs low.

### Tip 1: Reuse Containers for Planting
Instead of buying new pots, reuse old containers you have around the house. Yogurt cups, tin cans, and glass jars can make excellent planters with a little modification. Just be sure to add proper drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. This approach not only saves money but also helps reduce waste, supporting a more sustainable lifestyle.

### Tip 2: Use Natural Fertilizers
Natural fertilizers offer an inexpensive alternative to commercial products. You can compost kitchen scraps such as fruit peels and vegetable waste to create nutrient-rich compost for your plants. Coffee grounds are another great option, as they are packed with essential nutrients. These natural solutions promote healthy plant growth while cutting costs.

### Tip 3: Propagate Plants from Cuttings
Propagating plants from cuttings is a budget-friendly way to expand your indoor garden. Many common houseplants, like pothos or spider plants, root easily when their cuttings are placed in water. Once roots develop, transfer the cuttings into soil-filled, recycled containers to continue growing. This method saves money and helps you multiply your plant collection effortlessly.

### Tip 4: Optimize Light Conditions Naturally
Maximize natural light by placing your plants near windows where they can absorb ample sunlight during the day. If natural light is limited, use simple reflective surfaces like aluminum foil or mirrors around your plants to enhance light exposure without additional costs. These adjustments can significantly improve plant health and growth.

### Tip 5: DIY Plant Care Solutions
Instead of purchasing commercial plant care products, try making your own at home. For example, mix water with a few drops of dish soap to create a gentle insecticidal spray that controls pests without harming your plants. Additionally, diluted vinegar can be used as a natural leaf cleaner to keep your plants dust-free and healthy.

By following these practical tips, you can enjoy the beauty and benefits of indoor plants without straining your budget. Happy gardening!

How to make delicious tea at home

**How to Make Delicious African Tea at Home**
*By Simran Jeet | Sep 29, 2025, 11:28 AM*

African teas are renowned for their unique flavors and numerous health benefits. Made from a variety of indigenous plants, these teas offer a refreshing alternative to traditional brews. Preparing African teas at home can be a delightful and enriching experience, allowing you to explore diverse tastes and aromas. Below are some helpful tips on how to craft these flavorful teas, highlighting key ingredients and methods to bring out the best in each cup.

### Tip 1: Choosing the Right Ingredients
Selecting quality ingredients is essential for making authentic African tea. Look for fresh leaves or dried herbs from trusted sources to ensure the best flavor and health benefits. Popular choices include rooibos from South Africa, hibiscus from Egypt, and peppermint from Morocco. Each ingredient carries its own unique flavor profile and health advantages, so choose the one that best suits your taste preferences.

### Tip 2: Brewing Techniques for Optimal Flavor
The brewing method significantly influences the flavor of your tea. Begin by boiling water to the appropriate temperature—rooibos requires boiling water, while hibiscus tastes best with slightly cooler water. Steep the leaves or herbs for five to ten minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea. Feel free to experiment with steeping times to find your perfect balance of flavor.

### Tip 3: Enhancing Taste with Natural Sweeteners
To enhance your African tea’s taste, consider adding natural sweeteners such as honey or agave syrup. These complement the earthy flavors without overpowering them. Add sweeteners sparingly and adjust according to your palate. Besides sweetness, they also contribute additional nutritional benefits like antioxidants.

### Tip 4: Exploring Additional Flavors with Spices
Adding spices can elevate your African tea experience by introducing depth and complexity to the flavor. Try brewing your tea with cinnamon sticks or ginger slices for a warm, spicy kick, or add cardamom pods for an exotic twist. These spices blend well with most herbal teas and serve as versatile additions to any recipe.

Enjoy crafting your own delicious and healthful African teas right in your kitchen!
