Keegan Bradley defends US Ryder Cup fans as just ‘passionate’ amid chaos

Keegan Bradley refused to condemn American Ryder Cup fans after the grim scenes that formed a backdrop to day two at Bethpage Black. Bradley went so far as to curiously suggest spectators had been violent during the Ryder Cup in Rome two years ago.

Bradley’s approach was in stark contrast to that of his European counterpart, Luke Donald, who believes some of those in the galleries engaged in unacceptable conduct. Europe lead their hosts 11½-4½ heading into the final day.

Just as striking on Saturday, though, was a series of unacceptable shouts directed towards European players. These personal remarks were especially aimed at Rory McIlroy and were regularly delivered as golfers were preparing to play. McIlroy and Shane Lowry completed a fourball victory with state troopers lining the holes.

“I thought the fans were passionate,” said Bradley. “I mean, their home team is getting beat bad. They are passionate fans. I wasn’t at Rome but I heard a lot of stories that Rome was pretty violent as well. But the fans of New York from what I have seen have been pretty good. You’re always going to have a few people that cross the line and that’s unfortunate. I was happy to see our players trying to quieten down some people that were like that.”

Bradley took umbrage with the suggestion that the US team had stoked those in the stands. Collin Morikawa had called for fans to bring chaos to the Ryder Cup.

“Ryder Cups are wild,” Bradley said. “I don’t appreciate those words that you just said. I know what you’re trying to do. The Ryder Cup is full of passionate fans, full of passionate players.”

Luke Donald was asked to explain his team’s most difficult moments. “It was loud, it was raucous,” said the Englishman. “What I consider crossing the line is personal insults and making sounds when they are trying to hit on their backswings or very close to when they are trying to go into their routines. That did happen a little bit. It’s happened at other Ryder Cups, too. It’s something we prepared for and I can see how well they have dealt with it.”

“Things got tougher out there and it fired them up even more. They were able to get better through those difficult moments out there. That is what makes me most proud as a captain — just their ability to take the punches and come back even stronger.”

With Europe needing only two and a half points to retain the cup, Bradley knows the US require a sporting miracle. “Wild stuff happens in sports all the time,” he added.

Donald also expanded on the neck injury to Viktor Hovland, which raises the possibility of Sunday’s singles being reduced to 11 matches. Hovland was due to feature in Saturday’s afternoon fourballs after a morning victory alongside Robert MacIntyre but was a late call-off.

“He was feeling quite uncomfortable in the middle of the round this morning,” said Donald. “He got some physio. He was given a lot of anti-inflammatories during the round. He finished. He was feeling OK. He went in to rest and then he went back out to the range to try and hit some balls. When he got to the driver, he hit one and it was very painful. He hit another one and it got even more painful. He is on his way now to go get an MRI scan 20 or 30 minutes away and we’ll see in the morning what he is like. It’s definitely stiffened up a little bit. He would love to play and he’ll do everything he can to play.”

The highlight of the singles draw is Scottie Scheffler versus Rory McIlroy in match four. Europe’s desire to wrap this up early is demonstrated by the placing of Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, McIlroy and Jon Rahm in the top half-dozen games.

Mumbai: Green Acres CHS Office Bearers Disqualified, Registrar Upholds Orders

The Divisional Joint Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Mumbai, has dismissed a revision application and appeal filed by four members of the Green Acres Co-operative Housing Society, Marol. The order upholds their disqualification from the managing committee and confirms the appointment of an authorised officer to oversee the society’s functioning.

### Orders Upheld

In a common order passed by Divisional Joint Registrar Shahaji Patil, the Deputy Registrar’s orders dated October 18 and October 30, 2023, were upheld. According to these 2023 orders, the Deputy Registrar had disqualified chairman Vinod Patrikar, secretary Sudhir Kasale, treasurer Nilesh Karmaran, and a committee member from holding office for five years under Section 75(5) of the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies (MCS) Act, 1960.

### Appointment of Authorised Officer

Following the disqualification, the Deputy Registrar invoked Section 77(A) of the MCS Act to appoint an authorised officer. This step was necessary as the committee was left without the minimum quorum required to manage the society’s affairs.

### Arguments by Disqualified Members

The disqualified office bearers argued that they had conducted annual general meetings (AGMs) properly and maintained audited accounts with a ‘B’ grade over the past two years. They also claimed there were no irregularities in the day-to-day running of the society and sought to have the orders quashed.

### Registrar’s Findings

However, the Registrar’s office noted that the AGMs held in 2019 and 2022 failed to include statutory agenda items such as annual reports, audit rectification reports, and budget estimates. This omission violated Section 75 of the MCS Act. Additionally, despite earlier disqualifications in 2020 and directions regarding mobile tower revenues under Section 79A, the committee had not complied with the law.

### Final Order by Divisional Joint Registrar

In his order, Divisional Joint Registrar Patil held that the appellants failed to provide a satisfactory explanation or establish valid grounds to overturn the Deputy Registrar’s findings. He stated,
“The Deputy Registrar, after verifying the facts and following due process of law, has rightly passed the impugned orders, which require no interference on my part.”

The decision cements the disqualification of the four members and ensures the continued oversight of the society’s functioning through the appointed authorised officer.

Documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation revealed that Johnson & Johnson, which marketed Tylenol until it spun off its consumer products division into Kenvue in 2023, had privately acknowledged concerns years earlier.

In 2018, Rachel Weinstein, U.S. director of epidemiology for Janssen, Johnson & Johnson’s pharmaceutical division, wrote: “The weight of the evidence is starting to feel heavy to me.” These records indicated that company officials had been aware of a potential link between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism.

Despite these concerns, many public health experts and media outlets have dismissed the Trump administration’s position, characterizing it as overstated or politically motivated.

Then came what should have been Alexander Isak’s big moment. The £130 million striker raced onto a ball played in behind, jinked past Chris Richards, only to stab his shot wide.

However, with three minutes left, the ball found Chiesa in the area, and the Italian volleyed home. The goal survived a VAR check for handball by Salah, providing Liverpool with hope.

Yet Nketiah had the last word, tucking the ball away at the far post with another VAR check for offside adding to the late drama — which this time did not go Liverpool’s way.

Police have arrested an e-rickshaw driver in connection with the murder of a loading vehicle driver following a dispute over giving a lift. A crucial tip from a woman helped law enforcement crack the case, and she is set to be rewarded for her assistance.

According to DCP (Zone-1) Krishna Lalchandani, on September 23, the body of Deepak Kiran (50), a resident of Siddharth Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, was discovered near Kendriya School on Airport Road. He was found with severe head injuries.

Investigations began with a review of CCTV footage in the area. Thanks to the lead provided by an anonymous woman, police arrested Ganesh Ransinghe, of Nenaud Multi, Gandhi Nagar. Ganesh sustained injuries during the arrest and is currently undergoing medical treatment. He allegedly confessed to the crime.

**Quarrel Over Lift Request**

During questioning, Ganesh admitted that Deepak, who was returning from a temple, asked him for a lift to Gandhi Nagar. When Ganesh refused, an argument ensued. In a fit of anger, Ganesh reportedly picked up a cement block from the roadside and struck Deepak on the head, fatally injuring him, before fleeing the scene.

Further details revealed that after the incident, Ganesh returned home and assaulted his sister-in-law and her children before going into hiding. Police confirmed that Ganesh was under the influence of intoxicants at the time of the crime.

DCP Lalchandani stated that further interrogation will take place once Ganesh recovers, including tracing his movements before and after the incident. CCTV footage has confirmed that Ganesh acted alone.

The woman who provided the crucial tip will be rewarded for her valuable assistance, the DCP added.
