‘Hand for dad…’: Man confesses on TV about killing parents

**Man Confesses on TV to Killing His Parents and Burying Them in Backyard**

*By Snehil Singh | September 27, 2025, 04:27 PM*

A 53-year-old man from Albany, New York, has made a shocking confession on live television, admitting to killing his parents and burying their bodies in the backyard of their family home.

Lorenz Kraus revealed the grim details during an interview with local TV station WRGB. He confessed to murdering his parents, Franz and Theresia Kraus, eight years ago, claiming that he did it out of concern for their suffering.

**Details of the Confession**

In the interview, Kraus explained how he suffocated both of his parents—using his hand to suffocate his father and a rope for his mother. After the killings, he kept their bodies for three days before burying them in the backyard.

“I did my duty to my parents. My concern for their misery was paramount,” Kraus stated during the interview.

**Health Issues and Initial Investigation**

Kraus cited his mother’s injury from a fall and his father’s cataract surgery as reasons for their ongoing suffering, which influenced his decision.

Earlier this year, authorities began investigating Kraus for alleged financial crimes after receiving a tip in May. The Social Security Administration had requested the police to check on the Kraus parents, as they continued to collect benefits despite having been missing for some time.

**Background and Legal Proceedings**

Lorenz Kraus is a well-educated individual. He graduated as valedictorian from Siena University in 1994 with a degree in political science and later earned an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Following his televised confession, Kraus was arrested outside the WRGB studio. He now faces two counts of murder and concealing a corpse. However, during his court appearance on Friday, he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

The case continues to unfold as authorities investigate the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

Gurugram: 5 UP tourists killed in Thar crash on NH48

**Gurugram: 5 UP Tourists Killed in Mahindra Thar Crash on NH48**

*By Snehil Singh | Sep 27, 2025, 10:29 AM*

A tragic road accident on Saturday morning in Gurugram claimed the lives of five people and left one critically injured. The crash occurred around 4:30 AM near exit number nine on National Highway 48.

The victims, a group of six tourists from Uttar Pradesh comprising three men and three women, were traveling in a Mahindra Thar SUV. The vehicle lost control and crashed violently into a highway divider. The impact was so severe that the Thar was mangled beyond recognition.

Four of the passengers died on the spot. The remaining two were rushed to a nearby hospital, where one succumbed to injuries during treatment. The sixth individual remains in critical condition.

**Previous Incidents Involving Mahindra Thar**

The Mahindra Thar has been linked to several recent fatal accidents attributed to rash driving. Last month in Delhi’s Moti Nagar, a speeding Thar hit and killed a motorcyclist. The driver, Amarinder Singh Sodhi, fled the scene, leaving his car behind with two bottles of alcohol inside. CCTV footage revealed the motorcycle crushed between the Thar and a truck.

In another alarming incident in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri diplomatic enclave, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a speeding Thar.

Additionally, earlier this month, a woman accidentally drove her newly purchased Mahindra Thar through the glass wall of a showroom in Delhi’s Preet Vihar. The incident occurred during the delivery of the SUV on the showroom’s first floor. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this accident.

These incidents have raised concerns regarding road safety and responsible driving involving Mahindra Thar vehicles. Authorities are urged to take strict action to prevent such tragedies in the future.

Mumbai: 67-Year-Old Killed In Wrong-Side Collision On WEH; 16-Yr-Old Dies In Separate Accident After His Electric Scooty Skids At Palm Beach Road

**Mumbai: Two Separate Fatal Road Accidents Claim Lives in Borivali and Navi Mumbai**

A 67-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident in Borivali when a motorcyclist allegedly driving on the wrong side collided head-on with his two-wheeler. In a separate incident in Navi Mumbai, a 16-year-old boy died after his electric scooty skidded on a wet road.

### Borivali: Elderly Man Killed in Head-On Collision

On the night of September 19, Anwar Mithani, 67, was riding pillion with his son Yash on their two-wheeler after closing their shoe shop at Carter Road no 7, Borivali East. Around 11:20 pm, as they approached the southbound lane of the Western Express Highway, they were involved in a head-on collision with a motorcycle coming from the wrong direction.

The accused, 24-year-old Aniket Jadhav from Borivali, fled the scene without offering any assistance. Mithani sustained serious injuries to his right leg, head, face, and fingers and was bleeding heavily. Yash also suffered injuries to his hands and legs.

Bystanders helped transport Mithani to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali West, where he was under medical care. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead around 11:30 am the following day.

The Kasturba police traced and arrested Jadhav four days later. An FIR has been filed against him under sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence), 125(a) (act endangering life), and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.

### Navi Mumbai: Teen Dies After Electric Scooty Skids on Wet Road

In another fatal mishap, 16-year-old Shivam Patil died after his electric scooty skidded on the wet Palm Beach Road in Navi Mumbai. Patil, a class 10 student and resident of Nerul, was returning home along with his friend Sahil Bavliya, also 16.

Earlier in the evening, the duo attended karate classes in Seawoods and decided to stop by Sanpada for snacks. Around 8 pm, as they were heading back home, it had rained slightly, making the road slippery.

Patil was riding an electric scooty belonging to his father and was not wearing a helmet at the time. According to Police Sub-Inspector Amol Munde of Sanpada police station, the bike skidded, causing Patil to fall and hit his head on a metallic road barricade, resulting in fatal injuries.

Patil was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Bavliya sustained a fractured hand and abrasions and is currently receiving treatment at Vashi municipal hospital.

Patil has been posthumously booked for rash driving and causing death due to negligence.

Both incidents underscore the urgent need for road safety awareness, adherence to traffic rules, and protective measures like helmet use to prevent such tragic losses.

Navi Mumbai News: Employees’ Union Demands Diwali Ex-Gratia Bonus For NMMC Staff Across Categories

**Navi Mumbai: Maharashtra Employees’ Union Urges NMMC to Announce Ex-Gratia Grants Ahead of Diwali**

With Diwali just a month away, the Maharashtra Employees’ Union has called on the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to immediately announce ex-gratia grants (bonuses) for municipal employees across all categories. The demand cites rising inflation and increased festival-related expenses as pressing concerns for the workforce.

### Memorandum Submitted to Commissioner

Union President Ravindra Sawant recently met with NMMC Municipal Commissioner Kailash Shinde and submitted a written memorandum. The request highlighted the need for financial relief for all employees including permanent, contractual, daily-wage, and hourly-based workers, as well as teachers.

### Financial Relief for Hourly Teachers

A key concern brought up by the Union is the plight of hourly-based teachers in the municipal education department. These teachers do not receive leave pay and, given their modest salaries, often face significant financial difficulties. On humanitarian grounds, the Union recommended granting hourly teachers ex-gratia payments comparable to contractual staff, suggesting an amount between Rs 20,000 and Rs 25,000 this year.

### Proposed Grant Amounts for Teachers

For other categories of municipal teachers, the Union has proposed that contractual teachers receive Rs 35,000 and permanent teachers Rs 40,000 as ex-gratia grants. Additionally, employees in other divisions— including drivers and officers in the Parbhani division—were also urged to be considered for similar financial assistance.

### Acknowledging Employee Dedication

“Municipal employees and officers have consistently contributed to the city’s recognition at both state and central levels. Announcing ex-gratia grants this Diwali will not only provide essential financial support but will also acknowledge their dedication,” said Ravindra Sawant.

### Unified Demand from Staff

The memorandum was submitted in the presence of Secretary Mangesh Gaikwad, sanitation officers, finance department officials, teachers, and transport staff. This collective presence reflects a unified call for prompt and positive action from the NMMC administration.

Mumbai News: 12 Days After Water Pipeline Burst, Mantralaya Road Remains Closed For Traffic Movement

**Mumbai: Madam Cama Road Remains Closed Over 12 Days Following Water Pipeline Burst**

More than 12 days after a water pipeline burst on Madam Cama Road, opposite Mantralaya, the road remains closed to traffic. This prolonged closure has caused significant inconvenience to thousands of motorists, office-goers in the Nariman Point area, and visitors to the state secretariat.

The primary road continues to be blocked as repair work is underway to fix the damage caused by the burst pipeline.

**Timeline for Road Reopening**

According to Jaideep More, Assistant Municipal Commissioner in charge of ‘A’ ward, “It will take two to three more days for the road to open for traffic. It is a cement concrete road and curing work is underway.”

The repair work on the water pipeline was completed first, after which the cement concrete road was being restored. Since cement concrete roads require a curing period to strengthen, the reopening is taking longer than it might have with other materials.

Road curing is a process carried out on freshly placed concrete to enhance its strength and durability. “If it was an asphalt road, the resurfacing would have been faster,” Mr. More added.
