The Next-Gen Xbox Will Reportedly Be The Best of Both Worlds Between a PC and a Console

How We Rate Rumors

  • 0-20%: Unlikely — Lacks credible sources
  • 21-40%: Questionable — Some concerns remain
  • 41-60%: Plausible — Reasonable evidence
  • 61-80%: Probable — Strong evidence
  • 81-100%: Highly Likely — Multiple reliable sources

Rumor Assessment: 80% Probable

The current generation of Xbox and PlayStation consoles is now more than five years old, making it well past the time we would start hearing about what the next generation of consoles will look like. We’ve seen several rumors regarding the next-generation Xbox hardware, and alongside comments from Xbox president Sarah Bond, a clearer picture of Xbox’s next console is beginning to form.

A new report from Windows Central adds more clarity by framing the upcoming Microsoft console as a fusion between the PC and console gaming experiences. This report references comments from Microsoft executives like Sarah Bond and Phil Spencer, as well as unnamed sources who spoke to Windows Central. While nothing is finalized, the emerging concept makes sense for Microsoft’s future hardware.

Both Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond have alluded to the recently released ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handhelds as a glimpse into Microsoft’s vision for its next generation of hardware. The “Xbox Play Anywhere” initiative is becoming more prominent, with all Xbox games playable via the Xbox PC app and Xbox consoles moving forward.

According to the Windows Central report, the next-generation Xbox console will deliver a traditional console experience with its user interface and the ability to natively play console games. However, its foundation will be built on a “curated Windows gaming PC,” allowing access to popular PC game libraries including Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Battle.net. This experience mirrors what is currently available on the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Ally handhelds, which feature the Xbox Full-Screen Experience serving as the device’s home base.

In addition to these libraries, players will also be able to access and enjoy all games currently playable on the Xbox Series X/S consoles—this includes original Xbox titles, Xbox 360 games, and the entire catalog of backward-compatible titles available on Series X/S.

Another notable feature that places this device between the PC and console worlds is the removal of the paywall for online multiplayer gaming. Since the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 era, console players have had to pay for online multiplayer access, unlike PC gamers who have never faced this paywall. Microsoft’s next console reportedly plans to eliminate this paywall, aligning the online multiplayer experience more closely with PC gaming standards.

Of course, this will likely coincide with changes to Microsoft’s Game Pass service, though details are still unclear and may not emerge until closer to the hardware’s release.

This proposed hybrid approach is quite interesting—it combines PC perks like access to multiple gaming libraries and free online multiplayer with the simplicity and ease-of-use that consoles provide. If Microsoft executes this vision successfully, it could reshape how gamers experience the next generation of Xbox hardware.

### Understanding ETF Units and Share Changes

Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) trade just like stocks, but instead of “shares,” investors are buying and selling “units.” These units can be traded back and forth just like stocks but can also be created or destroyed to accommodate investor demand.

Each week, we monitor the week-over-week change in shares outstanding data to keep a lookout for ETFs experiencing notable inflows (many new units created) or outflows (many old units destroyed).

– **Creation of new units** means the underlying holdings of the ETF need to be purchased.
– **Destruction of units** involves selling underlying holdings.

Therefore, large flows can also impact the individual components held within ETFs.

Judd Apatow welcomes us into his comedic life with the illuminating scrapbook memoir ‘Comedy Nerd’

**Judd Apatow’s New Memoir “Comedy Nerd” Offers a Hilarious, Behind-the-Scenes Look at His Storied Career**

NEW YORK (AP) — Judd Apatow likes to keep stuff. He even goes as far as to say he’s a hoarder. But unlike a regular hoarder, he insists all the things he keeps are awesome and neatly collected.

“I save everything, but I don’t have it in a mound in the middle of the house,” the writer-director says. “I’m the Felix Unger of hoarding. Everything is taken care of very well.”

Fans of Apatow and comedy aficionados alike get to enjoy the benefits of this personality quirk with the Tuesday publication of *Comedy Nerd*, a bulging, 570-page, photo-filled memoir covering every chapter of his storied career.

### A Treasure Trove of Comedy Memorabilia

*Comedy Nerd* is packed with behind-the-scenes snapshots from sets, script fragments, notes from network bosses, essays, movie posters, and mini-profiles of his fellow comedians. Among the treasures are Apatow’s late-night ideas for *Knocked Up* typed into a BlackBerry and a photo of Adam Sandler’s old fake ID.

“I feel like just making this book justifies the hoarding,” Apatow says with a laugh. “I did save it for a reason. I wasn’t wrong to not throw out my photograph of Billie Jean King from when I was 10 years old.”

### Network Notes and Unseen Scripts

The producer, director, and writer behind movies like *This Is 40* and *The 40-Year-Old Virgin* was inspired to create the book by similar memorabilia-filled works from the Marx Brothers and *Saturday Night Live*.

He spent a year sifting through 400,000 photos, keepsakes, and clippings, scanning everything and laying out the book in a raw, authentic way. He then spent the next year writing essays and captions.

“The idea was that the experience of looking at the book would be as if I was over your shoulder explaining what things were and telling you stories,” he explains.

Within the pages, readers will find memos from network standards, such as one cautioning that “Ben’s gyrating dance [should] not be sexual” on *The Ben Stiller Show*. There are also Garry Shandling’s note-filled revisions to a script from *The Larry Sanders Show* and a page from an unproduced screenplay written by Owen Wilson.

Apatow also reveals a funny—but lost—cameo by Paul Rudd in *Bridesmaids*. He shares increasingly snarky email exchanges from 2001 between himself and writer Mark Brazill, debating a long-forgotten comedy sketch. One alternate setup for *Anchorman* features a group of anchors on a plane crashing into a snowy mountain, which becomes a parody of the movie *Alive*.

### A Visual Thinker and Comedy Obsessive

Andy Ward, Apatow’s editor and executive vice president and publisher at Random House, says this is a book only Apatow could make, given he is both a visual thinker and a loving collector with a deep passion for comedy.

“There’s a photographic element to this. There’s a sort of scrapbook-found object element. There’s advice in it about a life in comedy,” says Ward. “If you know him at all, it is very true to who he is and how he approaches what he does.”

Apatow is also unafraid to admit to moments when he was less than perfect. “I think a lot about all the people I got a chance to collaborate with and how magical a bunch of those times were. So I’m very happy to also show where I was an idiot or awful because that is part of the journey,” he says.

### TV Shows That Never Made It

The book dedicates pages to TV shows that never made it to air, such as *North Hollywood*, about three friends trying to break into show business. The pilot would have starred Amy Poehler, Kevin Hart, Jason Segel, January Jones, and Judge Reinhold.

“It seemed fun, at least judging from the photos at a party during the shooting of the pilot that shows folks getting stoned,” Apatow jokes. “Do people want me to show the photos of them smoking enormous joints in the year 2002?” The answer is yes.

### Embracing Failures Alongside Successes

Failures pepper the pages of *Comedy Nerd*, despite Apatow’s bankable instincts, which have given us hit TV series like *Freaks and Geeks* and *Girls*, as well as Oscar-nominated films *Bridesmaids* and *The Big Sick*.

“The hard part about comedy is it’s always an experiment. And everybody has a completely different opinion about how the story should be told, what’s working, and what’s not working,” he says.

“So a lot of having a career in this business is learning how to have those conversations that I didn’t do well. For many years, I got very emotional and resistant. It led to a lot of cancellations.”

### Making People Laugh and Shaping a New Comedy Era

Apatow’s rise coincided with fresh voices emerging in comedy who became part of his troupe, including Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Paul Rudd, and Jason Segel.

“I do think a new type of comedy was brewing, and it took the business a couple of beats to catch up to it,” Apatow reflects.

Despite the vast appetite for comedy on multiple streaming platforms, he doesn’t think the business has gotten any easier. “I don’t think it’s better, it’s just as weird in a different way,” he says. “It’s just all an experiment, and there’s no way for anyone to know if anything will work. That’s why we’re all banging into each other all the time.”

### Giving Back Through “Comedy Nerd”

Apatow is donating all proceeds from *Comedy Nerd* to those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. He lost his old home in Pacific Palisades; the ruins are among the first images featured in the book.

Making the book a charity project also eased the process of obtaining rights. “Everything in the book was donated. Normally you have to pay for all of these photos and reprints of articles. But when I told people where the money was going, everyone gave me everything for free,” says Apatow.

*Comedy Nerd* is not only a funny and revealing memoir but also a testament to one man’s love for comedy and the people who make us laugh.

Psyops On The Sunday Shows!

Part of keeping up with the news—and then watching the Sunday shows—is that you start to see the propaganda code embedded in our political matrix. Follow us as we do our best impersonation of Lawrence Fishburne’s Morpheus and “show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.” This week, at least.

### Scott Bessent

We’ve already covered some of the most ridiculously idiotic things Bessent said on ABC’s *This Week* [here](#), so we’re going to focus on his other two Sunday show appearances.

On NBC’s *Meet The Press*, host Kristen Welker pressed Bessent on the new 10 percent tariffs Donald Trump announced this week. The tariffs followed Ontario airing an ad featuring real 1987 footage of Ronald Reagan explaining why tariffs are bad—a move that apparently hurt Trump’s feelings.

Bessent’s defense was neither compelling nor especially sensible.

**BESSENT:** “Well, Kristen, let’s—let’s think about this. This is a kind of propaganda against U.S. citizens. You know, it’s psyops.”

Is it, though? Because if playing footage of and quoting Republicans being hypocritical liars counts as “psyops,” this very weekly rundown would qualify as an MKUltra program.

Welker also asked Bessent for details on whether these new Canadian tariffs would apply to all goods or only select items, but he did not know.

Welker then launched some “psyops” of her own by playing a clip of Trump promising to bring the price of groceries “way down.” After listing several items like coffee, beef, and bacon whose prices are actually rising, Bessent got a bit defensive and tried to shift the goalposts.

**BESSENT:** “Kristen, it’s unfortunate—as much as I like you—you like to cherrypick. You know, when we came in, it was ‘egg-flation, egg-flation, egg-flation.’ You know, egg prices are down.”

Bessent took a similar tone with a similar question on CBS’s *Face The Nation* when host Margaret Brennan pressed him. He tried the classic spouse’s tactic when losing an argument:

**BESSENT:** “You listed the things that are up, but we’re seeing plenty of things that are down. Why does everyone always point out the things they suck at instead of the things they’re so great at, Margaret?”

Back on *Meet The Press*, before the interview ended, Bessent was asked about the destruction of the East Wing of the White House to make way for Trump’s gaudy ballroom. Welker played a clip of Trump promising that they would not touch the original White House structure, then asked why Trump didn’t tell the public his real intentions.

While Bessent recycled the usual talking points and false equivalences we’ve all heard about previous White House renovations, he added a new one we had to note.

**BESSENT:** “Well, again, I think this was a judgment call on the president. The president is a master builder. And I don’t know. I assume that maybe parts of the East Wing could have been asbestos, could have been mold, could have not fit with the design.”

A MASTER BUILDER! Here is a video of Trump loving asbestos—while you catch your breath laughing at the suggestion that he is a MASTER BUILDER.

### Arnold Schwarzenegger

Former California Republican governor and aging Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared on CNN’s *State of the Union* to criticize California’s redistricting effort.

Current California Governor Gavin Newsom is leading an effort to redraw the state’s congressional maps after Texas redrew its maps to steal five Democratic House seats, giving Trump and the GOP even more power.

While Schwarzenegger’s reasoning sounds fair, it strikes us as a bit Pollyanna-ish.

**SCHWARZENEGGER:**
“Texas started it. They did something terribly wrong. And then, all of a sudden, California says, well, then we have to do something terribly wrong. And then now other states are jumping in. And now this is spreading like wildfire all over the country. […] The thing is that you cannot cheat your way out of it. What they should do is, what the Democrats should do is, they should outperform Trump.”

The problem with that, Governator, is that in many places it’s already rigged against Democrats, so that even when Democrats turn out more voters, Republicans still manage to gain seats!

Democrats have tried to pass voting rights and national fair redistricting laws, but you cannot get there if we are fighting with our fists while the GOP uses laser blasters.

If anyone should understand the need to improvise to defeat a stronger and more ruthless enemy, it should be the guy who took down a Predator.

### Margaret Brennan

Speaking of gerrymandering, we conclude with Margaret Brennan on CBS’s *Face The Nation*, particularly the end of her interview with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

When Jeffries brought up the topic of gerrymandering and election denial, Brennan’s attempt to “both sides” the issue sounded less like CBS News and more like OAN.

**BRENNAN:**
“You said Democrats ‘there are no election deniers on our side of the aisle.’ You said that back in January. But recently you’ve been using the term ‘rigged elections’ in reference to the upcoming midterms. Democrats were appalled when President Trump used language like that. How do you justify using that now? Doesn’t that undermine faith for voters you need to show up?”

Ahem, no. Because voters can understand the difference between denying the results of a fair election and the GOP’s effort to change the rules to cheat and steal elections.

This “both sides” argument would be laughable if made by a terrible op-ed writer or some journalistically bankrupt outlet. Guess we didn’t have to wait long for the “Bari Weiss Effect” to be noticed at CBS News.

Have a week. Share. I’m also HERE.

Nicole Kidman stuns in sexy black gown on Vogue World runway after Keith Urban split

Nicole Kidman is showing Keith Urban what he’s missing.

Following her split from her country singer husband, the “Big Little Lies” actress stole the show at Vogue World: Hollywood 2025 in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Kidman, 58, walked the runway in a Chanel by Matthieu Blazy black bustier dress adorned with black satin camellias. She complemented the look with bright red lipstick and wore her signature blonde hair curled and parted to the side. Kidman’s style paid homage to Rita Hayworth as the titular character in the classic 1946 film *Gilda*.

The Oscar winner even kicked off her appearance with a backstage rendition of “Put the Blame on Mame” from the movie. The performance, shot in black and white, featured backing dancers in tuxedos and vintage studio lights, adding to the nostalgic vibe.

This fashion event marked Kidman’s third public outing since she filed for divorce from Urban, 58, after 20 years of marriage late last month.

On October 4, Kidman attended amFAR’s auction in Dallas, where she presented her “Lioness” collaborator Taylor Sheridan with an award. Two days later, she attended the Chanel runway show during Paris Fashion Week with her daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, showcasing her fresh breakup bangs.

News of Kidman and Urban’s split first broke on September 29, just one day before she officially filed for divorce in Nashville, Tennessee. According to divorce documents obtained by The Post, Kidman cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their separation and listed the date of separation as the date of filing.

Insiders suggest the couple had been separated “since the beginning of summer,” with Urban having already moved out of their family home to his own place in Nashville. Additional sources close to the former couple hinted that Urban was seeing another woman, although it’s unclear if this relationship began before or after his departure from the marital home.

For his part, the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” crooner returned to the concert stage with a performance in Hershey, Pennsylvania, on October 2.

Neither Kidman nor Urban has spoken publicly about the breakup. However, Urban appeared to take a subtle dig at his estranged wife when he sang a song about “wanting to break out of a soul-sucking routine that you might be stuck in” during the premiere of his new CBS show, *The Road*.

During the episode, Urban also opened up about feeling “lonely and miserable” while on tour.

“When you wake up on a tour bus at 3:30 in the morning and you’re sick as a dog, you’re in the middle of nowhere and you’ve got to play your fifth show later that night, and you haven’t slept, and you miss your friends, and you’re missing your family, and you’re completely lonely and miserable and sick and you say to yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?’” he said.

“The only answer can be: because this is what I’m born to do,” the Grammy Award winner added.

Vatican II at Sixty

December 8, 2025, is quickly approaching—a date marking the sixtieth anniversary of the close of the Second Vatican Council in 1965.

As a budding teenager at the time, I paid scant attention to the event, not realizing that it would come to dominate most of my life. Like many theologians, I have spent much of my career studying the council, explaining its documents, and engaging in the debates that this great synod ignited.

A few years ago, while researching a book on Vatican II, I came to an even deeper appreciation of its work. The theologians tasked with drafting and editing the documents were priests and bishops deeply dedicated to the faith—both intellectually and spiritually.

Studying their journals—particularly those of men like Yves Congar, a conciliar expert, and Gérard Philips, draftsman of *Lumen Gentium* and moderator of the crucially important Theological Commission—one quickly realizes that these theologians had devoted their lives to Christ, the gospel, and the Church.

5 things to do while you’re in Hallowell

**Editor’s Note:**
*5 Things* is a new feature in which locals give our readers suggestions for exploring the state of Maine, town by town. Have a city or town you think we should explore in the future? Tell News & Culture Editor Katherine Lee at [email protected].

Kate Tremblay loves standing in the middle of Vaughan Woods in Hallowell and thinking about a line from a 1931 memoir.

“You will, in time, I hope, see the ravine restored much to its original beauty,” William Warren Vaughan wrote. For years, Vaughan had been buying back land sold by earlier generations of his family. He saw how those parcels were industrialized, and he wanted to reverse course.

Now, Vaughan Woods and Historic Homestead is a nature preserve and house museum, home to sprawling trails and year-round programs. This property was home to seven generations of the same family, which descended from Benjamin Hallowell himself.

Tremblay, 49, is the nonprofit’s executive director.

“I love the feeling of knowing the place where I live really well and knowing and understanding the history of our place,” she said.

### What’s your favorite spot to eat?
Tremblay loves to eat out in Hallowell, but her family also likes to pick up dinner to eat at home.

“We get a lot of takeout from the Indian place downtown, the Desi Kitchen.” Her go-to dish? Butter chicken.

### Where would you go for a drink?
Tremblay’s answer to this question comes from a favorite memory from her first winter in the city.

“When we first moved here, we went cross country skiing, and then we went downtown in the afternoon to The Maine House and had a hot cocktail. It’s the best.”

### Where would you go to be outside?
Vaughan Woods is a beloved spot for Tremblay, of course. Her house actually backs up to the trees. She can walk through the woods to get to work, and her kids take the path through the trees to get to school.

But Tremblay has another great option for biking, skiing and even just walking to the grocery store. The Kennebec River Rail Trail is 6.5 miles along its namesake waterway.

“Hallowell is really lucky to have the rail trail right along the river. It always surprises me how wild it feels when you’re in big sections that run between Augusta and Gardiner. It’s pretty special.”

### Where do you shop local?
The Rusticators Emporium is a favorite for Tremblay and her family. They bought funky glasses and mismatched silverware for the Thanksgiving table.

Her son likes to collect old decks of playing cards. Her daughter has what they call a Mad Hatter’s tea set, and she’s always scouting for the tiniest cups and saucers.

“Our whole house is furnished from the antique mall,” Tremblay said with a laugh.

### What’s a hidden gem in Hallowell?
“Believe it or not, there is another conservation area that is amazing,” Tremblay said. The Effie L. Berry Conservation Area is located next to Stevens Commons. (You can access this area by car or on foot; there is a parking area at the end of Coos Lane.)

The Kennebec Land Trust’s website says there are no formal trails, but the area is open for hiking, skiing and snowshoeing.

“You get the most spectacular view of the Capitol building that you can imagine,” Tremblay said. “It’s just gorgeous.”
