Bears Give Grim Update on Rookie Who Suffered Injury vs. Giants

The Chicago Bears pulled out a 24-20 win over the New York Giants on Sunday in front of their home crowd. However, before securing the victory, the team provided a grim update on the injury status of fourth-round rookie linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II.

Hyppolite exited in the third quarter of Week 10’s game — his first active game since September — due to a knee injury. Initially designated as “questionable” by the team, his status was later updated to out for the remainder of the game after about 40 minutes. The Bears’ communications team confirmed the update on X during Sunday’s game, stating:
“#Bears LB Ruben Hyppolite II (Knee) has been downgraded to OUT.”

Bears head coach Ben Johnson acknowledged Hyppolite’s knee injury during his postgame press conference but did not provide further details on the extent of the injury. Notably, the coach did not receive any questions from the press regarding Hyppolite’s current status.

This knee injury is a tough break for the rookie linebacker. Hyppolite had played 18 defensive snaps and 62 special teams snaps across the first four games of the season. However, after veteran T. J. Edwards returned following Week 5’s bye, Hyppolite was a healthy scratch for four consecutive games before finally seeing action again on Sunday against the Giants.

The Bears may share more details about Hyppolite’s injury during Coach Johnson’s media availability on Monday. Otherwise, fans will have to wait for the Wednesday injury report ahead of Chicago’s Week 11 road game against the Minnesota Vikings for the next official update.

The Bears (6-3) will square off against the Vikings (4-5) in a rematch at 1 p.m. ET next Sunday.

ESPN reports Donald Trump wants new Commanders stadium named after him

It seemed a little odd that President Donald Trump decided to attend a Washington Commanders home game this week as they hosted the Detroit Lions. The government is currently in the second month of a shutdown, and Trump’s approval ratings are tanking. But now, we may know what’s really behind the move.

On Friday, Trump’s White House announced his weekend plans through Pat McAfee, who was able to share the news exclusively on his ESPN show. Then, on Saturday, ESPN’s Don Van Natta Jr. and Adam Schefter reported that Trump wants the new Washington Commanders stadium planned for Washington, DC, to be named after him.

The previous Commanders stadium in DC was named after Robert F. Kennedy Sr., whose son is currently Trump’s vaccine-denying head of Health and Human Services. Instead of denying the report, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and a White House source made it clear to ESPN that they expect the naming to happen.

President Donald Trump wants the Washington Commanders to name their planned $3.7 billion stadium after him, multiple sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN. A senior White House source revealed there have been back-channel communications with a member of the Commanders’ ownership group, led by Josh Harris, to express Trump’s desire for the domed stadium in the nation’s capital to bear his name.

The new stadium is being built on the old RFK Stadium site, which served as the team’s home from 1961 to 1996. While Leavitt declined to answer additional questions, the senior White House source told ESPN: “It’s what the president wants, and it will probably happen.”

This request is actually modest compared to some of Trump’s previous ambitions, such as his infamous demolition of parts of the White House to add a ballroom, his persistent campaign to win the Nobel Peace Prize, and his desire to have his likeness carved into Mount Rushmore.

Interestingly, instead of pursuing a typical naming rights deal tied to the Trump brand, it is reportedly expected that the stadium naming would be done as a tribute to honor Trump and “all of his Trumpiness.”

Donald Trump has made several appearances at sporting events during his second term in office. However, none of these visits had been immediately linked to an effort to secure a stadium named after him—until now.

Trump’s expansive executive power in Washington and beyond continues to be tested by the day. But according to ESPN, the ultimate decision on the stadium’s name will rest with the DC City Council and the National Park Service.

NASA Astronaut Scott Kelly Joins Andrea Iervolino’s Effort To Film Romantic Drama ‘I See You’ In Space

EXCLUSIVE: Former NASA astronaut Scott Kelly has teamed up with Italian producer Andrea Iervolino (Ferrari) and his Space11 Corp banner for the upcoming “romantic space drama” I See You, which aims to become the first western movie to send a filmmaker into orbit to capture a scene.

Kelly, a veteran of four space flights and former commander of the International Space Station, will serve as an advisor on the script, penned by Diane Frolov and Andrew Schneider. While plot and cast details are still under wraps, Iervolino is targeting a launch date in 2026.

According to Iervolino, discussions are already in advanced stages to secure a rocket that will carry the film’s director—whose identity remains undisclosed—into space. He also plans to incorporate up to 85 percent of real space stock footage in the movie to enhance authenticity.

“As the film’s astronaut advisor on the script, Kelly—the first American astronaut to spend an entire year aboard the International Space Station—will lend his first-hand expertise to ensure authenticity in the portrayal of human endurance, isolation, and emotional connection in the vastness of space,” explained the team.

The Russian film The Challenge made headlines in 2023 by filming scenes in space, becoming the first movie to do so. Meanwhile, Doug Liman and Tom Cruise have also been developing a project that would shoot in space.

Space11’s team includes industry veterans such as Bert Ulrich, former NASA Film and Television Liaison, who currently serves as Executive Vice President of Production Development & Communications for the company.

“Having Scott Kelly on board is an extraordinary honor,” said Andrea Iervolino. “His experience brings emotional truth and scientific realism to our vision, reminding us that love and humanity transcend every boundary, even in the silence of space.”

Iervolino’s Space11 Corp specializes in stories with a space element, with credits including Ferrari, To The Bone, Maserati: The Brothers, and Captivated, featuring Al Pacino in a drama about the kidnapping of John Paul Getty III.

Middle school principal in Maine draws criticism after dressing as ICE agent for Halloween

A middle school principal in Maine is facing criticism after dressing as a federal immigration officer for Halloween. The costume included a bulletproof vest labeled “ICE.”

An image circulating widely online shows James Black, principal of Mt. Blue Middle School in Farmington, wearing the ICE outfit. The photo features Black in a bulletproof vest marked “Police ICE,” a cap with “ICE” written on it, and a gaiter patterned with blue stars and red stripes covering most of his face.

Christian Elkington, superintendent of the Mt. Blue Regional School Unit #9, confirmed the district is aware of the incident. “I have received several communications from staff members and others with concerns and/or questions about the matter,” Elkington told Boston.com Sunday night.

He added, “As we understand it, this situation occurred off RSU #9 grounds and was not connected to any RSU 9 activities. The district is responding to this situation in a manner consistent with our internal practices and procedures. We are also complying with our legal obligation to maintain the confidentiality of our employees.”

The tattoos visible on the man in the photo match those seen on Black’s Facebook profile. However, the profile appeared to have been taken down shortly after Boston.com viewed the images.

Project Relief Maine, an advocacy and mutual aid organization, shared the photo of the controversial costume on social media. They stated, “For immigrant students who already live in fear of ICE, this isn’t funny. It’s terrifying. Deportation isn’t a costume. It’s not a joke. It’s trauma.”

The group emphasized, “Students deserve to feel safe at school, not mocked by the very people who are supposed to protect them.”

Attempts to reach Black for comment on Sunday evening were unsuccessful.

White House Issues New Press Restrictions: What We Know

**White House Imposes New Restrictions on Reporters, Sparking Concerns Over Press Freedom**

The White House has initiated new restrictions for reporters as of Friday, no longer allowing access to Room 140—also known as the “upper press” room. This move has raised significant concern among leading U.S. media organizations, press freedom groups, and First Amendment advocates.

### Why It Matters

These policy changes limit when and how journalists can access crucial government areas and information. Critics argue that the measures threaten transparency and hinder the media’s ability to hold government officials accountable. The new restrictions at the White House come shortly after similarly controversial rules were implemented at the Pentagon.

### What You Need to Know

According to multiple reports on social media, the White House circulated the new guidelines around 5 p.m. ET on Friday. The memo stated:

> “As a result of recent structural changes to the National Security Council, the White House is now responsible for directing all communications, including all national security matters.”

The memo, shared by Sinclair Broadcast Group National Correspondent Ahtra Elnashar on X, continued:

> “Members of the White House Communications Staff routinely engage with sensitive material. To protect such material and maintain coordination between National Security Council Staff and White House Communications Staff, members of the press are no longer permitted to access Room 140 without prior approval in the form of an appointment with an authorized White House staff member.”

These restrictions parallel a crackdown on the press at the Pentagon under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The Defense Department introduced a new media credential agreement that prominent outlets—including Newsmax, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Fox News, and CNN—have declined to sign.

The Pentagon’s proposed rules require military personnel to obtain official approval before sharing information with the press—classified or not—and empower the department to bar journalists they deem security risks.

### Reactions from the White House and Media

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung addressed the issue on X Friday, stating:

> “Some reporters have been caught secretly recording video and audio of our offices, along with pictures of sensitive info, without permission. Some reporters have wandered into restricted areas (our offices are feet away from the Oval Office). Some have been caught eavesdropping on private, closed-door meetings.”

Cheung added:

> “Cabinet Secretaries routinely come into our office for private meetings, only to be ambushed by reporters waiting outside our doors. The press still has access to the lower press area, where the press team sits and can answer all inquiries. Reporters can make appointments to see us in our offices.”

In response, Weijia Jiang, president of the White House Correspondents’ Association, issued a statement Friday night:

> “The White House Correspondents’ Association unequivocally opposes any effort to limit journalists from areas within the communications operations of the White House that have long been open for newsgathering, including the press secretary’s office. The new restrictions hinder the press corps’ ability to question officials, ensure transparency, and hold the government accountable, to the detriment of the American public.”

Former federal prosecutor Joyce Alene commented on X:

> “WH trying to restrict journalist access there, following ejection of the Pentagon press pool. Bill Clinton tried something similar at the WH, but opposition forced him to relent.”

### What Happens Next?

It remains unclear whether journalists will regain access under revised or rescinded policies. Media organizations and press freedom advocates continue to monitor the situation closely.

### Understanding ETF Units and Share Changes

Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) trade just like stocks, but instead of “shares,” investors are buying and selling “units.” These units can be traded back and forth just like stocks but can also be created or destroyed to accommodate investor demand.

Each week, we monitor the week-over-week change in shares outstanding data to keep a lookout for ETFs experiencing notable inflows (many new units created) or outflows (many old units destroyed).

– **Creation of new units** means the underlying holdings of the ETF need to be purchased.
– **Destruction of units** involves selling underlying holdings.

Therefore, large flows can also impact the individual components held within ETFs.

Bill Maher Sounds Off on Trump’s $300 Million White House Renovation: “The Symbolism Is He’s Not Leaving”

Bill Maher has some strong feelings about President Donald Trump’s latest project—and no, it’s not another social media platform.

On Friday’s episode of *Real Time with Bill Maher*, the HBO host took aim at Trump’s controversial $300 million renovation of the White House, calling it a troubling sign of permanence.

“The symbolism is he’s not leaving,” Maher told his panel. “Who puts in a giant ballroom if you’re leaving?”

Earlier that day, demolition began on the East Wing—the portion of the White House long used for guest arrivals and official events. Trump has said the planned 90,000-square-foot ballroom will be funded privately by himself, several major tech companies, and “many generous patriots.”

While Maher admitted the move “bothers” him, the conversation heated up when former RNC chairman Michael Steele pushed back on the comedian’s casual take about the White House being “just a building.”

“We watched this week the destruction of a symbol of this government,” Steele lamented. “Of our democracy, of our pluralistic society.”

“You’re talking about the White House?” Maher shot back. “Oh, it’s a building, Mike.”

Steele disagreed. “Okay, Bill, it’s a building maybe to you, but to a lot of Americans it’s not,” he said, sharing a personal connection. Growing up in Washington, D.C., Steele called the White House his “childhood.”

“I’m going to tell you as a young kid growing up in D.C., when my daddy took me by ‘that building,’ it meant something to me as a 10-year-old,” he recalled. “It meant something to me to grow up in a town where everybody in this country came and protested and cried and screamed and laughed. So that building, to me, was my childhood.”

Steele also slammed Trump for tearing down the East Wing “without accountability.”

Maher acknowledged, “He should have gotten the permits, but that’s how he does things. I agree, but it is just a building, first of all.”

The host pointed out that past presidents have made their own changes to the White House. “That part of the building wasn’t always there,” Maher noted. “Nixon put in a bowling alley. Obama made the tennis court a basketball court. I can’t get this mad about everything, Mike. I just can’t.”

Former Biden White House communications director Kate Bedingfield joined the debate, arguing that the East Wing demolition is part of a larger pattern.

“If this was the only impulsive, reckless, you know, driven by his own desire for self-aggrandizement, then I would give you it’s just a building,” she said. “But it’s not. It’s part of a manner of governing that is tearing at some of the foundations, the institutional foundations in this country. And that’s scary.”

Maher ultimately agreed that Trump’s actions and attitude go beyond architecture.

“What could President Trump not do?” he asked. “He’s drunk with power.”

Senate confirmation-scarred Trump nominees find other homes in the administration

“I do have a Nazi streak in me from time to time, I will admit it,” he wrote last year in a text message group chat with Republican strategists and influencers.

Regardless, at least at the time of publication, Ingrassia remains the White House’s liaison with the Department of Homeland Security after being moved in February from the Department of Justice following problems with Attorney General Pam Bondi’s chief of staff. The White House did not respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.

Ingrassia’s withdrawal — Trump’s 49th this year — comes after the hiring, firing, and rehiring of Marko Elez, the Department of Government Efficiency staffer under Elon Musk who had administrator-level access to U.S. Treasury payment systems that dispersed more than $5.45 trillion last fiscal year before he was terminated.

“I would not mind at all if Gaza and Israel were both wiped off the face of the Earth,” Elez wrote in 2024 on a now-deleted anonymous social media account. “Just for the record, I was racist before it was cool.”

Elez was reinstated a day later after Vice President JD Vance defended him on his own social media account, despite Elez also saying, “Normalize Indian hate.” Notably, Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, is the country’s first Asian American and Hindu American second lady. Trump expressed his support for Elez in a later press conference.

Republican strategist Charlie Black conceded that Trump keeping Ingrassia in the White House has created a political optics problem for his administration. “But they don’t mind taking heat for their loyalists,” the founding chairman of Prime Policy Group told the Washington Examiner. “[They] are already under pressure from the press.”

To that end, Republican strategist Alex Conant contended that if Democrats continued to underscore Ingrassia, “eventually the president might be annoyed by the distraction and make a change.”

“But the Democrats haven’t shown any ability to keep sustained attention on anything since Trump’s term began,” the former communications director for Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s 2016 presidential campaign told the Washington Examiner. “Between the shutdown, upcoming elections, and Trump’s daily announcements, it seems unlikely that this will stay at the top of the news for long.”

Republican strategist Doug Heye was similarly uncertain whether Trump would relent to pressure related to Ingrassia; however, he had concerns about the White House’s employment process. “It sure seems, ‘Have you ever praised the Nazis?’ now has to be a part of the political job application process,” the former Republican National Committee communications director told the Washington Examiner.

Democratic strategist Jim Manley said, “In any other administration, someone like this would have a less than zero chance of continuing to serve after withdrawing his name from consideration to be confirmed by the Senate.”

“But the Trump folks don’t play by the same rules as everyone else, and they sure as heck don’t care about the optics of a guy like Ingrassia continuing to serve the president,” the former communications director for the late Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) told the Washington Examiner. “I mean, they have a real problem here — if they fire him for holding extremist views, then a whole bunch of others are going to come under fire as well for holding the same extremist views.”

Vance just last week defended the Young Republicans New York chapter’s group chat — which involved state leaders and at least one Trump administration aide — that included questionable comments such as, “I love Hitler.”

“The reality is that kids do stupid things, especially young boys,” Vance said during an episode of The Charlie Kirk Show taped at the White House after Trump posthumously awarded Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom. “They tell edgy, offensive jokes. That’s what kids do. And I really don’t want us to grow up in a country where a kid telling a stupid joke — telling a very offensive, stupid joke — is cause to ruin their lives.”

The other optics issue created for Trump by Ingrassia’s withdrawal is the administration’s recent embrace of cancel culture. Vance, for example, last month implored people to report anyone welcoming Kirk’s death to their respective employers. The State Department has canceled visas for the same reason as well.

At the same time, President Ronald Reagan biographer Craig Shirley compared Ingrassia to the Democratic nominee to become Virginia’s next attorney general, Jay Jones. Jones sent text messages in 2022 to a Virginia Republican lawmaker about shooting then-state House Speaker Todd Gilbert and wishing death upon his children.

“The despicable and actionable comments of Jones in the VA AG race gives political cover to almost everybody,” the former Republican strategist told the Washington Examiner. “The Left is losing at everything, and deep down they know our ideas are better than their ideas, which has led to their mindlessness, including opposing everybody and everything, regardless.”

Democrats have simultaneously encountered another optics issue, this one with Maine Democratic U.S. Senate primary candidate Graham Platner, who has had to cover up a Nazi symbol tattoo.

Ingrassia’s withdrawal also comes after Trump has found administration positions for other nominees whom the Senate would not have confirmed.

Ed Martin, Trump’s former interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, is another nominee who did not have enough support to be confirmed by the Senate, withdrawing his candidacy in May after Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) announced he would not endorse him over comments regarding Jan. 6. Days later, Martin announced he would become the Justice Department’s pardon attorney, a position through which he has investigated the Biden administration’s pardons and former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen.

The day before Martin’s withdrawal, Trump’s original nominee to become the U.S. Surgeon General, Janette Nesheiwat, withdrew her candidacy after conservative activist Laura Loomer emphasized discrepancies with her medical education. Nesheiwat claimed to have been educated at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, instead of the American University of the Caribbean.
