New $2 saliva test can tell you if you’re depressed

A new way to quickly detect depression is causing a literal spit take. Trusting a depressed brain to self-diagnose is like asking a broken GPS if you’re lost. While it might seem obvious, depression goes undetected in about 50% of cases since symptoms creep up slowly or come about in unexpected ways meaning millions of people don’t realize they’re depressed. But the sooner depression is discovered, the faster a treatment can be found and researchers in Brazil have made a major breakthrough for the 21 million adults that have at least one major depressive episode each year. The research team has developed a portable saliva-based biosensor that measures levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). BDNF is an important protein for brain health and growth. Low levels can indicate mental health conditions like depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, as well as overall cognitive decline. With this new test, patients add a drop of saliva to the sensor, and within three minutes, results are delivered to a smartphone. Testing for BDNF usually involves invasive and costly procedures that required lab visits. Now, for $2. 19, this novel assessment provides an affordable and noninvasive alternative that can be done just about anywhere. The test isn’t available to the public yet, but experts hope this will be a breakthrough for mental health screenings in the near future. Finding depressive markers sooner can offer more effective treatment and prevent symptoms from becoming more severe. For the many people who have depressive disorders, persistent sadness and a loss of interest in almost every part of life can make work, school and relationships a daily struggle. Typically, depression screenings are based on self-assessed psychological questionnaires. Common signs of depression include: Feeling anxious or sad all the time Not wanting to do your usual activities or hobbies Feeling irritable or easily frustrated Having trouble sleeping Changes in appetite (eating more or less) Having trouble concentrating Feeling worthless or helpless Thinking about suicide or hurting yourself Typically, these symptoms last for several days or weeks at a time, and don’t go away. Doctors may refer to certain criteria listed by the American Psychiatric Association as well. They might also do bloodwork to check for thyroid function or vitamin deficiencies, as well as an MRI to check the brain. While not a standalone diagnostic tool for depression, researchers and doctors alike hope that these saliva tests can provide better insight. The researchers also hope that this transportable solution can be used to track cognitive health and provide better treatments in real time.

Dispatch Review

With the year closing out soon enough, it’s been a crazy ride—from clubhouse Game of the Year contenders to generational flops from billionaire companies. I’ve seen it all unfold before my very eyes, but if you told me I’d be closing out this year of gaming by dispatching a ragtag group of misfits led by a character played by Aaron Paul, I’d have looked at you bewildered.

**Dispatch** is an interactive narrative title from AdHoc Studio, founded by several veterans previously under the umbrellas of Telltale and Ubisoft. It’s a game that strips away the goody two-shoes traits of the traditional superhero genre. Instead of playing a hero, you work as a dispatcher at a company that enrolls supervillains into, well, “civilized” superheroes under their Phoenix Program, sending them on odd jobs and heroic saves.

However, here at SDN (Superhero Dispatch Network), you’ll find the exact opposite — multiple HR violations as you guide the infamous Z-team towards improvement. They’re the baddest of the bunch, and with eight episodes in total, it’s a hilarious and charming adventure to say the least.

So join me in this review as I tell you how AdHoc has created its very own eccentric cast of characters — and why I’m willing to do anything to stay alive until I see more of them in a (potential) future season.

### First Day in Hell

After getting his Mecha Man armor suit busted and narrowly escaping death, a powerless Robert Robertson finds himself at the lowest point in his life. Then, the fabulous Blonde Blazer offers him a job at the Superhero Dispatch Network. He joins on the condition that his armor gets repaired, but this new “desk job” at SDN won’t be a walk in the park.

Robert’s job? Manage a wild group of supposed supervillain-turned-heroes, known as the Z-team, as they carry out day-to-day tasks—from averting calamities to saving neighborhood cats. Just the usual for SDN’s subscribers.

The Z-team consists of every HR department’s worst nightmare—the kind of people you wouldn’t want to deal with on your first day at work. Unlike the usual Telltale format we all love, *Dispatch* opts for a Sunday cartoon animation style. If you’re familiar with the *Invincible* comic or TV series, you’ll know exactly what to expect from the game’s art and writing.

At the heart of it all is Robert. You control most of his choices and actions, helping shape the penultimate finale in the last episode. While relationships matter little here, a few characters will pivot based on major choices in each episode.

The Z-team never makes it easy. The chaotic first day had me unsure if improvement was even possible. Can you truly fix them or tip these dastardly misfits towards the positive side? Regardless, Robert’s cliché words of encouragement often surprisingly sway the team. Though you’ll notice familiar chess-like notifications telling you which characters remember your choices, these have limited impact beyond a few integral characters.

And hey, don’t let me stop you from trying to snag a kiss from Blonde Blazer on your first day together. Let your crazy inner voice win.

### Become the Master Dispatcher

With eight episodes to play, the main gameplay revolves around managing radio communications for the Z-team over two shifts. You select and dispatch a single hero or a team to complete various timed jobs and missions. Sounds straightforward, right? That’s what our friendly do-gooder Phenomaman implies during the tutorial dispatch.

But there’s more here than meets the eye. Each mission requires you to actively evaluate your units’ stats and decide which hero or team will have the best chance of success on each distress call. This nuanced gameplay makes quick decision-making all the more rewarding.

Each hero has five attributes: Combat, Vigor, Mobility, Charisma, and Intellect. These stats correspond to different job requirements, described with highlighted flavor text. It might seem cryptic at first, and I get the frustration if the descriptions don’t perfectly match your expectations, but you’ll get the hang of it quickly.

Each attribute has 10 tiers, so you’ll need to carefully consider how many points from each attribute you require to complete missions—or at least improve your odds. If you enjoy living on the edge like me, those rare moments when RNG favors you on a 50-50 mission outcome definitely hit the dopamine receptors.

Don’t let this intimidate you. The game includes several accessibility options to streamline gameplay—such as leveling up heroes, forming synergy pairs, and unlocking new powers.

There are hidden synergy pairs for some characters. Sending these pairs together raises the success rate for jobs, and the more you deploy them as a duo, the higher their synergy potency levels. Leveling up heroes lets you allocate upgrade points to desired stats.

The game balances everything so naturally that pacing rarely feels rushed or unanticipated. Plus, these gameplay elements encourage mixing and matching on secondary playthroughs to try powers and team synergies you didn’t explore the first time around.

### From Outcasts to BFFs

First off, I must extend a huge round of applause to the voice cast—including surprising cameos by YouTubers Jacksepticeye, MoistCritikal, and the Critical Role cast. Their performances bring the eccentric personalities to life, building on AdHoc’s outstanding writing.

The Z-team are every HR department’s nightmare: despicable outcasts, ex-cons (some imprisoned by Robert himself), and the baddest bunch Torrance has to offer. But as tough as they appear, you slowly warm up to them.

These ragtag rascals become an endearing part of Robert’s world. Here are some standouts:
– **Flambae** — hot-headed and savvy, often clashing with Robert.
– **Invisigal** — rebellious and resentful of playing by the book.
– **Sonar & Malevola** — a half-man, half-bat buddy duo and a mighty demonic musclebound figure.
– **Coupe** — the quiet former assassin.
– **Prism** — bedazzling yet cocky.
– **Punch-Up** — a no-nonsense brawler who packs a serious punch.
– **Golem** — a chill mud monster who just wants a peaceful life (my spirit animal).

Each character adds unique flavor every time they appear, especially during dispatch tasks where their daily mundanity shines through, enriching their personalities episode by episode.

There’s plenty of witty banter, gags, and backtalk spilled with every interaction. The game doesn’t shy from chaos either — a pivotal barfight scene shows just how unhinged the Z-team can get with no restraints.

That’s the beauty of it. These characters grow on you, making critical decisions involving them your most conflicted moments in the game. And for the classic debate — romancing Invisigal or Blonde Blazer — I’ll leave that choice to you.

### The Power of Friendship & Tomfoolery

Comedy is subjective, so while *Dispatch* features plenty of swearing and over-the-top wit, I think it strikes a fine balance. The writing flows naturally, with hardly a fault or pacing issue to complain about.

Towards the later chapters, the game leans into a curtain-call finale against the villain Shroud. While this felt somewhat forced, it wasn’t immersion-breaking.

*Dispatch* isn’t designed as a sprawling series with branching storylines or deeply fleshed-out character arcs. Instead, it tells a singular, focused story—a direction that lets you enjoy the ride without worrying about every detail.

Some choice-based moments are straightforward, while others challenge your moral compass as though the fate of the world depends on them. This range is exactly what you want from an interactive narrative of this caliber.

When your team faces impossible odds in a final stand, the game doesn’t hold back. And just when you think all hope is lost, a chance to ragebait the main villain with a backhanded action arises—a moment so perfectly executed I found myself raising my arms like a cinematic maestro.

Experiencing this game’s unfiltered writing is perhaps the best way to close out your gaming year.

### Final Thoughts

*Dispatch* is absolute cinema—literally and figuratively. AdHoc has crafted a delightful workplace comedy superhero narrative featuring a strong cast of well-written, eccentric characters that make you eager to reunite with them like long-distance best friends.

The gameplay may be slightly tricky to grasp at first but evolves into a hyper-engaging burst of time-based unit management. Each hero is lovable enough on their own, so you don’t need lengthy backstories for context.

With writing that strongly emphasizes character relationships and witty banter, *Dispatch* delivers one of the most cathartic video game experiences I’ve had all year. I’m genuinely grateful for every minute spent with Robert and his crazy crew, and I’m eager to support AdHoc in hopes they continue this charming story with another season of these whimsical goofballs.

Shailene Woodley’s Complete Dating History

**Shailene Woodley’s Dating History: From High-Profile Engagement to New Romances**

*3 min read*

Shailene Woodley, best known for her roles in *Big Little Lies*, *Divergent*, *The Fault in Our Stars*, and *The Secret Life of the American Teenager*, has generally kept her love life private. Still, over the years, she’s had several public relationships. Here’s a rundown of what’s publicly known about her dating history—from a high-profile engagement with an NFL star to a brief romance with an *Emily in Paris* actor.

### Nahko Bear

Woodley was linked to Nahko Bear, the frontman of the band Nahko and Medicine for the People, from 2014 to 2016. They first sparked dating rumors after being spotted on vacation together in Hawaii.

During her *Divergent* press interviews in 2014, Woodley spoke about Bear, saying, “He has dramatically changed my life. All of his songs are not only inspirational but relatable.”

### Ben Volavola

A year after her relationship with Bear ended, Woodley began dating Ben Volavola, a Fijian-Australian rugby player. They reportedly met in Fiji while she was filming *Adrift*. The couple later attended the film’s premiere together in 2018. Their relationship lasted until 2020.

Reflecting on why the relationship ended in a 2020 *Bustle* cover story, Woodley said, “I was in a relationship with someone, and we were very much on the road to marriage and children. I realized I was still at an age where I wasn’t able to fully commit. I couldn’t be available to him in the way that I wanted to be. I didn’t fully love myself.”

### Aaron Rodgers

Woodley’s most high-profile relationship was with NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The couple was first linked during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and they announced their engagement in February 2021.

“I have the perspective that I would have met Aaron in any context, any space in time, because I feel we were meant to be together,” Woodley told *Shape* in 2021.

However, the relationship ended when they called off their engagement in 2022.

The following year, Woodley opened up about the public pressure that came with their romance, saying, “It honestly never really hit me that millions of people around the world were actually watching these things and paid attention to them… Then, I dated somebody in America who was very, very famous. It was the first time that I’d had a quote-unquote ‘famous’ relationship, and I watched [the] scrutiny, opinions, the desire for people to know my life and his life and our life—it just felt violating in a way that, before, it was fun. I’m a very private person, and so I found that any time I posted anything, I instantly felt like I was sharing too much of who I am with people I didn’t necessarily trust.”

In 2024, Woodley spoke further about their relationship in an interview with *Outside*: “I had a really awful, traumatic thing happen in early 2022. I felt like I lost my soul, my self, my happiness, my joy. I really understood depression and anxiety and, like, complete soul detachment.”

She added, “I haven’t shared much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry. It was not right. But it was beautiful.”

### Lucas Bravo

Woodley and *Emily in Paris* star Lucas Bravo were first linked in March 2025 when they were photographed holding hands in Paris.

Shortly after, Bravo told *People*, “Yeah, I’m really happy.”

In August, a source told the outlet, “It’s the total opposite of her dynamic with Aaron. She’s happy, light, and having fun again.”

### Current Status

As of now, Shailene Woodley is publicly single but seems to be enjoying new connections and prioritizing her happiness and well-being.

Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe review: A welcome reunion with the homies

Here at Shacknews, I’ve talked about *Atelier* a few times. GUST and Koei Tecmo’s item synthesis and cozy vibes RPG series has had a lot of ups and downs over the past few decades.

If you’ve read my previous reviews, you might have a skewed perspective, as the most recent outing was a big down, and the one before was, excuse the cliché, a mixed bag. But dial the clock back just a bit more, and you have the current peak of Atelier mountain: Ryza. This time, we get to talk about Ryza. Banger, banger, banger.

### The Ryza Trilogy: A Rare Direct Sequel Success

Atelier games typically come in loose trilogies, usually tied together by a theme, a location, or—very rarely—an actual character. Ryza, which started in 2017 with *Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout*, ended up being a whole set of direct sequels, a rare move for this series.

That’s because Ryza was such a hit, especially thanks to the debuting Nintendo Switch that year and a craze for physical copies that were constantly selling out. The series broke containment in a way GUST didn’t seem to be expecting.

You can trace that success not only to how the series evolves in the Ryza trilogy, but also to how *Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout* was a massive expansion in scope. Its sequels maintained that momentum, capturing lightning in a bottle and nourishing it across two sequels in a way few series can—especially in a niche where resources are inherently limited.

### What Makes Ryza So Great?

It’s a little tough to quantify what’s so great about the Ryza series. A certain sect of the fanbase will say “thighs,” which is valid I guess, but there’s a lot more to it than that.

Ryza herself is a character with compelling energy in a series where most Atelier protagonists tend to be a little more quaint and low energy. Ryza is a go-getter who accidentally stumbles into alchemy as a side effect of a desperate want for adventure, and that’s a fun dynamic for a cozy game.

Meanwhile, the trilogy itself is an excellent use case for what a trilogy can be from a storytelling perspective. You can feel the passage of time—from how these characters’ lives develop, to their relationships with each other and even the spaces they live in.

It hits differently if you binge the trilogy rather than waiting the years between each release, but there’s still an emotional weight when, in the third game, you retrace your steps and reminisce about the past.

### Gameplay Evolution and Nostalgia

With how much the gameplay systems change and evolve across the trilogy, there’s a transformative wonder in how differently you interact with these spaces as well. It’s like going back home after moving away, mentally tracking how different everything is, and processing the emotions those differences stir.

It’s good stuff, on top of the usual Atelier fare such as grinding numbers, bopping cute enemies with a creative and evolving combat system, and growing from making weak, crappy items to synthesizing a cartoony-ass bomb that could probably level a building.

These are special games, and I’d suggest anyone who is into RPGs but has been unsure about where to start with Atelier to jump in right here. Just be prepared to keep chasing that high for now, as GUST is still figuring things out.

### What’s Deluxe About It, Then?

Another tradition in the world of *Atelier* is the DX branding. After a series wraps up, GUST returns to it later with a set of re-releases that make tweaks, add additional content, collect DLC for “free,” and let players snag a whole trilogy for an overall discount.

This was great for collectors too—especially for the growing Switch community at the time—because you could import physical copies of previous trilogies, getting a whole set of games on one cartridge that included English language options and all the additional extras.

Now it’s Ryza’s turn.

Like before, you can catch up on the Ryza trilogy if you missed it earlier, at a lower price point and with additional features such as new story content, new playable characters, secret bosses, and more. It’s a great deal and even a decent deal for Atelier fans willing to double dip.

### The Console Generation Crossover

What’s interesting here is the weird intersection of console generations that happened between the first Ryza and its sequels—and in Nintendo’s case, after as well.

Being a smaller developer in the grand scheme of things, GUST is known for fun, breezy, and beautiful games, but not necessarily for fidelity and performance at the top of the line. But the Ryza DX series came with a unique opportunity, especially for the first game.

### FPS Dreams, Shattered

*Atelier Ryza 1* runs beautifully on PlayStation 5. Having a classic *Atelier* game that looks this good and runs smoothly is a wonderful thing, and a great excuse to upgrade from the PS4 version without a doubt.

On the Switch 2, however, you’re capped at a locked 30 frames per second. The tradeoff is that it runs with more muscle in the lighting and reflection department than the original Switch version, and it’s clearly running at 1080p in handheld mode — all while maintaining that locked 30 fps without breaking a sweat.

So it looks amazing and doesn’t have those weird jitters the recent *Persona 3 Reload* port suffers from. But as a game with some hybridized real-time elements in its turn-based combat system, that frame rate on PlayStation looks *really* good.

Sadly, there’s no option to choose performance mode at the expense of some visual upgrades, considering the Switch 1 version is playable and runs at a smooth, locked 30 fps on Switch 2 as well.

### Performance on Ryza 2 and 3

Performance concerns are less significant for *Ryza 2* and *3*, which were already released on PS5 and were finicky there to begin with. For example, the PS5 version of *Ryza 2* can run at 60 fps in performance mode, but you have to manually limit the resolution output in the console UI to get there.

Having these run at a smooth 30 fps on Switch 2 is a welcome outcome—expecting 60 fps on Switch 2 would have been foolish.

Overall, it’s a strangely fun exercise in going back over history, tracking how things can change across hardware releases, managing expectations, and finding what to appreciate.

*Ryza 1* is the only bummer part, and even then it’s still an improvement.

### Looking Ahead

Hopefully as time goes on, we can have more stable expectations for Nintendo Switch 2 ports. As of now, it still feels like the Wild West.

And don’t get me started on the physical aspect—that’s a whole other issue and not as relevant to this review.

### Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the *Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe* series is a treat for fans and a brilliant new way for possible newcomers to jump into the best the Atelier series currently has to offer.

It’s a perfect way to try *Atelier* for the first time, especially since you don’t have to buy the whole trilogy upfront if you don’t want to. But it’s an excellent deal considering the new content and upgrades.

Even if the Switch 2 version isn’t the perfect edition I had in mind, it’s still a great chunk of RPG goodness for the new console.

Regardless of the platform, Ryza’s three-part adventure was a big deal the first time around for real reasons—and the DX version only serves as reinforcement.

### Availability

The *Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack* is available on November 13, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2.

A Switch 2 code was provided by the publisher for this review.

Jennifer Lopez’s ex-husband Ojani Noa makes EXPLOSIVE claims, accused her of…: ‘You begged me to…’

**Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Love Struggles, Sparking Reaction from Ex-Husband Ojani Noa**

Jennifer Lopez is a star who needs no introduction. The American singer and songwriter has been captivating audiences with her music for years. However, alongside the headlines about her successful career, her personal life has often been in the spotlight as well.

Recently, Jennifer was in the news again following a candid conversation on *The Howard Stern Show*. During the interview, the *If You Had My Love* singer made a heartfelt confession about her struggles with love and relationships. She revealed that she never truly felt loved in her past relationships.

### Ojani Noa Reacts to Jennifer Lopez’s Comments

Jennifer’s first ex-husband, Ojani Noa, quickly responded to her remarks on *The Howard Stern Show*. Taking to Instagram, he accused Jennifer of not being honest during their short-lived marriage. In a strangely worded statement, Ojani claimed that the issues in their marriage were not because of him or her other ex-husbands, but because of Jennifer’s infidelity.

Ojani stated that during their 11-month marriage—from February 1997 to January 1998—Jennifer Lopez was unfaithful. He expressed his feelings, saying:

> “I was in love with you. I moved out of state to support, protect, and care for you. I’m an amazing, loving person, a great human being. Honest, faithful to you, never lied, never misbehaved, never cheated on you. I was good to you. I’m too good a man for you.”

He went on to add:

> “You decided to lie and to cheat on me, and even though I stayed, you begged me to keep the marriage intact to avoid bad press.”

### A Brief Timeline of Jennifer Lopez and Ojani Noa’s Relationship

Jennifer and Ojani met in the mid-1990s when he was working as a waiter in Miami. Their romance blossomed quickly, leading to marriage in 1997, at a time when JLo’s fame was rapidly rising.

However, their marriage was short-lived. Jennifer filed for divorce in January 1998, just 11 months after their wedding. Things became contentious when Jennifer took legal action to prevent Ojani from releasing private footage from their honeymoon, as well as stopping him from publishing a book about their marriage.

Adding fuel to the fire, Jennifer was also rumored to be in a relationship with Sean “Diddy” Combs during that period. Ojani hinted that this may have contributed to the breakdown of their marriage.

Jennifer Lopez’s recent revelations have once again brought attention to a tumultuous chapter in her past, highlighting the complexities of love and fame in the public eye.

Stop Framing Problems As Existential

We love intensity. We’ve been raised on it. News that screams apocalypse, relationships that must define us, and careers that are either calling or catastrophe. For us, everything is existential. Everything either has to ignite our sense of purpose or drag us into the dungeons of despair.

A bad boss isn’t just a bad boss anymore; they can trigger a full-blown crisis of self-worth. A friend who doesn’t share our ideology must be a bad human being, no longer worthy of our friendship. A heartbreak becomes a referendum on whether love itself still exists. Every piece of information, so cheaply and easily available, demands reflection on “the times we live in.”

And somewhere inside all this drama, we forget how to live a normal, durable life, without the constant internal monologue of making sense or processing everything that happens around us. When we call every discomfort a threat to our being, we lose the ability to respond proportionately. Anxiety replaces action.

We start speaking in absolutes – always, never, ruined, saved – because anything less feels shallow. But life isn’t made of absolutes. It’s mostly small repairs: an apology, a new plan, a good night’s sleep. Calling every bruise a mortal wound doesn’t deepen our awareness; it flattens it. It strips us of nuance and liveliness, pushing us into an eternal state of victimhood and nagging.

Maybe we learned this tone from history itself. We grew up among parents and grandparents who lived through real existential moments – partitions, wars, migrations, pandemics. Their survival stories became our emotional template: if you aren’t struggling for your life, are you even alive? So we dramatize the ordinary, mistaking adrenaline for meaning.

This is not to say that one must live in a bubble of false positivity or spiritually bypass the hard facts of life to avoid discomfort. But a mind that is perpetually trying to make sense of everything, determined to connect every dot and build a grand theory of how and why, will eventually burn itself out. In that exhaustion, it often makes the wrong assumptions.

Such minds tend to overanalyze, mistaking coincidence for pattern or projecting personal pain onto larger, systemic, or even existential frameworks. Such maniacal investigation into the outside world makes perfect sense if you are a researcher. But the internal world of human thoughts and emotions is a different terrain, where the same intensity becomes self-defeating.

Emotional life needs stillness, not constant dissection or analysis of data points. It asks for deep relaxation that activates the parasympathetic nervous system to feel aligned, unthreatened, and at home. Calm is not just a spiritual state but a biological one.

Preoccupation with existentialism, when left unchecked, often disturbs inner rhythm and drives it toward extremes — nihilism, fatalism, or a kind of radical determinism that leaves no space for grace or spontaneity. Spiritual maturity begins when you stop demanding that every experience redeem or destroy you.

Try this experiment: the next time a crisis hits, whisper to yourself, “This is inconvenient, not fatal.” Notice how your body loosens. The mind starts to solve instead of spiraling. Perspective is a spiritual muscle; it grows each time we resist exaggeration.

After all, what’s the point of living if every moment of being alive is held hostage by anxiety and distrust, if our instinct is to interpret every uncertainty as evidence of a collapsing world, and to move through life as though we don’t quite belong here, constantly defending ourselves against a universe that feels indifferent at best and hostile at worst?

When life turns cruel, it’s tempting to watch the whole world burn. To mistake destruction for relief and chaos for catharsis. It feels easier to condemn everything than to stay tender within it. But there is a way out of this self-absorption.

Courage, kindness, communion, and love — those luminous human capacities that make life worth living — are still at our disposal. To reach them, though, we must first escape the maze of our own overthinking. A mind that is constantly analyzing cannot inhabit intimacy; it observes life instead of participating in it.

To love is to be simple, and to belong is to surrender the compulsion to solve everything or to take a moral position on every passing conflict. Maybe the way forward for our anxious generation is linguistic humility. Let “urgent” mean urgent, not “the end of the world.” Let “I’m hurt” mean exactly that, not “I’ll never recover.”

We don’t need more odes to meaninglessness or new elegies for the apocalypse. We need presence, and community spaces that let us feel safe enough to stay. Less performance, more warmth. Less language, more listening. Less philosophy, more touch.

To be a pilgrim is to walk, not sprint, toward meaning. The world will keep offering us new dooms — political, personal, planetary — but we can choose to meet them without making them cosmic. Peace begins the moment we remember that most of life’s problems are simply problems. Not prophecies. Not punishments. Just the next stretch of road.
