I still remember my mother’s tears, the 3 days of the funeral, the sound of the drums. I was a kid. A different time. Worlds ago, now. It seems after that day it all turned a different page. Still RIP John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Btw, those drums, that funeral, briefly shown in the movie The Boston Strangler, with Tony Curtis, which I am grateful they put that in the movie, so it has been placed, I think as a bit of a memorial to the event. An infant is completely dependent on others for everything they need. A baby has no resources of their own to draw upon for help. The same Greek word translated as “infants” is used in Scripture to describe those who cannot eat solid food (1 Corinthians 3:1; Hebrews 5:13), those who cannot speak (1 Corinthians 13:11), and those who are helpless (Ephesians 4:14).
To such spiritual babes—those who acknowledge their utter inability to save themselves—God desires to reveal the truths of His kingdom.
As seen in the Sermon on the Mount, the “poor in spirit,” who humbly confess their dependence on the Father and the Son, receive a clear and irrevocable invitation to salvation.
The infants mentioned here stand in direct contrast to the proud Jewish leaders who opposed Jesus at every turn. They are also the antithesis of those religious practitioners who glory in their own self-worth and perceived success.
God is completely satisfied to offer a gospel of grace because that glorifies Him.

On November 9, 2000, I created my first and only account on Free Republic (FR), after a few years of merely lurking. The urge to post grew too strong to resist joining. It’s easily the best internet-related decision I’ve ever made!
My sister, Mollynme, discovered FR first and alerted me to it. Unfortunately, she succumbed to cancer 8½ years ago.
Today, I learned of the passing of another Freeper who was with me and 8 or 10 others from the Fall of 2000 until at least 2006. We were a faithful group who engaged in street corner activism, each of us making our own signs and posters.
Among us were former residents of Johnstown, CO: WeldGOPHardline and his wife, FireEngineRed (she had bright red hair). They moved out of state a few years ago, and sadly, her health later took a serious downturn. She passed away this morning.
How sad that this happened on my 25th Free Republic anniversary.
I guess the lesson here is that Freepers get old and sick too — just like everyone else.
