In the early hours of Monday, September 22, masked men looted the Ambika petrol pump in Baran, Rajasthan. The incident, which occurred around 2:15 am, was captured by the CCTV cameras installed at the petrol pump, and the video of the robbery has since surfaced online.

According to reports, five to six masked assailants overpowered a petrol pump employee and held him hostage during the robbery. In the viral footage, the men can be seen tying the employee’s hands and legs before fleeing the scene with approximately Rs 1,750 in cash, as reported by Aaj Tak.

**Baran Police Response**

Following the viral spread of the video, the Baran Police have responded promptly. Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation is underway, and officials are actively probing the incident. A manhunt operation has been launched to apprehend the accused individuals involved in this robbery.

**Similar Incident in Saharsa, Bihar Earlier This Year**

This is not an isolated case. Earlier in February 2024, robbers also targeted a petrol pump at gunpoint in Saharsa, Bihar. The armed robbery was recorded on the petrol pump’s CCTV camera.

In that incident, four masked criminals arrived on two bikes at the Pooja Petrol Pump in Tiri, located in the Baijnathpur police station jurisdiction. They forcibly seized a cash bag containing ₹21,000 from the cashier before fleeing the scene. The local police continue to investigate the case.

Incidents like these highlight the need for increased security measures at fuel stations and prompt law enforcement actions to ensure the safety of employees and customers alike.

Cops find illegal gun stash after arrest over alleged violent attack

Police Seize Illegal Firearms and Charge Two Men Following Assault Investigation

Police have seized a cache of illegal firearms and charged two individuals in connection with an ongoing investigation.

The incident traces back to September 14, when a 45-year-old man was seriously injured after allegedly being assaulted by a man known to him at a residence in Lower Barrington. An official report was made to police on September 17 concerning the assault.

On September 19, law enforcement officers, including specialist units, arrested a 40-year-old man in the Beechford area relating to the assault. He was charged with causing grievous bodily harm and has been detained to appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court.

Following the arrest, police conducted a search of a Beechford residence where several illegal firearms were discovered. The items found included:

– A sawn-off shotgun
– A rifle
– Six homemade pistols
– An antique pistol
– Two imitation firearms (gel blasters)
– Two crossbows, one of which was homemade

A 53-year-old man, who was not involved in the assault, was also charged with several firearms-related offences. He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear before the Launceston Magistrates Court on October 22.

Detective Inspector Michelle Elmer commented on the discovery, stating, “Every illegal firearm in our community is a concern to Tasmania Police, and poses a risk to public safety. Firearms, particularly homemade ones, are unpredictable and extremely dangerous. They pose a significant threat to the community.”

She added, “Police remain committed to removing illegal weapons from our streets, and we urge anyone with information in relation to illicit firearms to help us by providing information.”

BMW crash case: Court defers Gaganpreet Kaur’s bail hearing

**BMW Crash Case: Court Defers Gaganpreet Kaur’s Bail Hearing**

*By Snehil Singh | September 20, 2025, 3:07 PM*

A Delhi court has postponed the bail hearing of Gaganpreet Kaur, the prime accused in a fatal BMW accident that resulted in the death of Deputy Secretary Navjot Singh and injuries to his wife, Sandeep.

The hearing in the Patiala House Court has been deferred to September 24 after the police requested additional time to collect key pieces of evidence, including Kaur’s mobile phone and driving license. Investigators informed Judicial Magistrate Ankit Garg that they oppose granting bail at this stage since the probe is still in its early phases.

**Evidence Collection Underway**

Kaur’s phone, currently held by her husband Parikshit Makkad, is considered crucial for the investigation. The police revealed that the device contains important messages sent after the crash. Makkad is expected to hand over the phone to authorities shortly.

Meanwhile, Gaganpreet Kaur remains in judicial custody until September 27. She faces charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rash driving related to the accident.

**Preservation of CCTV Footage**

The court has also issued a notice on an application seeking the preservation of CCTV footage from the accident site. On Thursday, the court observed that there is no legal provision for sharing such footage with the accused in a criminal case.

The police have registered cases under several penal provisions, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, rash driving, and negligent driving, following the incident.

**Details of the Incident**

The accident occurred on September 14 around 1:00 PM near Dhaula Kuan. Navjot Singh and his wife were riding a motorcycle back from Bangla Sahib Gurdwara when they were struck by Kaur’s BMW. Parikshit Makkad was seated in the passenger seat of the BMW at the time of the crash.

Authorities are also investigating possible attempts to tamper with evidence after the accident. This includes probing Kaur’s alleged visit to a hospital located nearly 19 kilometers away from the accident site.

The investigation continues as the court awaits further developments before proceeding with the bail hearing.

Viral Video Shows Family Being Confronted For ‘Stealing Railway Bedsheets’ On Purushottam Express; Find Out What The Consequences Are Of Such Theft

**Odisha: Viral Video Sparks Outrage Over Alleged Theft of Railway Bedsheets on Purushottam Express**

A viral video from Odisha has ignited public outrage after showing a family allegedly caught stealing bedsheets from the first-class AC coach of the Purushottam Express. The incident, reportedly recorded on the platform after the train’s arrival, highlights a rather unusual but serious case of theft involving railway property.

**About the Purushottam Express**

The Purushottam Express is a superfast train running between Puri in Odisha and New Delhi. It is one of the most in-demand routes, passing through several states including Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.

**Viral Video Shows Drama Over Stealing Bedsheets**

In the video shared on X by user Bapi Sahoo, a family of three, including a woman, is seen surrounded by two Travelling Ticket Examiners (TTEs) and other railway staff. The officials can be heard confronting the family over allegations that they tried to sneak bedsheets into their luggage.

The woman appears reluctant as she pulls out bedsheets from a bag, while the men accompanying her avoid giving clear answers. Sahoo captioned the video:
“Traveling in 1st AC of Purushottam Express is a matter of pride itself. But still people are there who don’t hesitate to steal and take home those bedsheets supplied for additional comfort during travel.”

While the clip has gone viral, details about when and where exactly the incident took place remain unconfirmed. Additionally, authorities have not released any official statement regarding whether any action was taken against the accused passengers.

**What Happens If a Passenger Is Found Stealing Railway Property?**

Passengers travelling in AC coaches are provided with linen items such as bedsheets, blankets, and pillows to enhance their travel comfort. However, these items must be returned at the end of the journey.

Railway officials emphasize that stealing or damaging railway property is a punishable offense under the Indian Railways Act, 1966. According to Section 3 of the act:

– A first-time offender may face up to one year of imprisonment, a fine of up to Rs 1,000, or both.
– For repeat or serious violations, the punishment can extend to up to five years in prison along with a higher fine.

To prevent such incidents, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel regularly conduct checks on trains and platforms.

Passengers are urged to return all provided linen items at the end of their journey to avoid any legal trouble.

Pahalgam terror attack: NIA court extends custody of accused persons by 45 days

A special NIA court in Jammu has extended by 45 days — beyond the stipulated 90-day period — the custodial remand of two accused arrested for allegedly harbouring Pakistani terrorists involved in the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in April.

Special NIA judge Sandeep Gandotra extended the investigation and remand period of Bashir Ahmad Jothat, who hails from Baisaran in Pahalgam, and Parvaiz Ahmad from Batkote in Pahalgam. The court held a prima facie case in favour of the extension of the remand and investigation, citing the allegations, progress of investigation, and pending forensic and DNA profiling reports.

Accordingly, the court granted a 45-day extension to the investigating officer for the investigation of the case beyond the initial 90-day period, applicable to accused Jothat and Ahmad. The order directed the authorities to complete the investigation as soon as possible and urged the investigating officer to expedite the probe.

The original 90-day remand period for investigation, along with an additional 10 days of judicial remand, was due to expire on Friday. After the expiry of the earlier remand, Jothat and Ahmad were produced virtually before the court on September 18, which then extended their investigation and remand period to enable the NIA to continue its probe, officials confirmed.

The judge observed that the plea for a 90-day extension of the investigation was well-founded and deserving of acceptance, especially as the probe had reached a crucial stage. Several witness statements and forensic reports were still pending, which warranted the extension.

The case, re-registered by the NIA, pertains to the killing of tourists from a particular community at Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam, on April 22, 2025. The accused, Jothat and Ahmad, were arrested on June 22 and have since been held in judicial custody at Amphalla Jail in Jammu.

According to the NIA, the accused disclosed the identities of three armed terrorists involved in the attack, confirming that they were Pakistani nationals affiliated with the banned terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The federal agency alleged that both accused had knowingly harboured these terrorists at a seasonal dhok (hut) in Hill Park, Pahalgam, prior to the April 22 attack that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, and left 16 others injured.

Body Sent In Garbage Trolley After Post-Mortem In MP’s Damoh

**Disturbing Incident in Damoh: Murder Victim’s Body Transported in Garbage Trolley Due to Lack of Hearse Van**

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): In a troubling incident at Hatta town, Damoh district, the body of a murder victim was transported home in a garbage trolley after postmortem, owing to the unavailability of a hearse van at the block level.

The deceased, Devendra Lodhi, cousin of the sarpanch of Shikarpura village in Patera block, was murdered on Thursday. Following the postmortem, his family requested a hearse van to carry the body home. However, they were allegedly informed that no hearse van was available.

This has raised serious concerns, especially since the state government had launched 149 hearse vans across Madhya Pradesh on July 28 this year. Unfortunately, these vans are only stationed at district hospitals.

In Damoh, the district hospital has two hearse vans, but they are reserved exclusively for patients who pass away within hospital premises. As Lodhi’s death occurred outside the hospital, he did not qualify for the use of these vans.

Speaking to Free Press, SDM (Hatta) Rakesh Singh Markam acknowledged the issue. “Hearse vans are available at district hospitals, but not at block level. So, problems arise for people in carrying bodies. I will look into the matter and talk to CMHO as well as civil surgeon,” he said.

This incident highlights the urgent need to improve hearse van availability at block levels to prevent distressing situations like this in the future.

Indore: 61 Booked For Rumours, Hate Posts On Instagram After Salman Lala’s Death

**Indore Crime Branch Books 61 Instagram Users for Posting Misleading Information Following Death of Criminal Salman Lala**

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The City Crime Branch on Friday booked 61 Instagram account users for posting misleading information after the death of criminal Salman Lala. Officials stated that these posts and reels could hurt the sentiments of various communities.

Following Lala’s death, some anti-social elements attempted to instigate hatred and animosity between communities by sharing provocative and misleading content through multiple Instagram IDs. Such actions have the potential to disturb public peace and adversely affect harmony among castes and communities, the police warned.

The Crime Branch team identified a total of 61 Instagram IDs involved in spreading this misleading information. Prima facie, the actions of these users have been found to violate sections 223, 196, 353 (1)(a), and 353 (1)(c) of the BNS. Consequently, a case has been registered against them, and further investigations are ongoing.

Additional DCP (Crime) Rajesh Dandotiya provided insight into Salman Lala’s death. Lala drowned in a pond in Sehore while attempting to escape from the Crime Branch a few days ago. The Crime Branch was actively searching for him due to his involvement in drug supply operations.

After tracing Lala’s location to an area between Bhopal and Dewas, the team reached the spot and pursued him. Lala managed to flee from the vehicle and later jumped into a pond in Sehore to avoid apprehension. His body was recovered from the pond the following day.

After his body was brought back to the city, thousands of people and Lala’s supporters gathered near his residence and at the BRTS stop near LIG Square.

To identify individuals spreading rumors on social media, SI Reena Rathore from the Social Media Monitoring Cell was tasked with collecting information about the users involved.

In response to the situation, the Commissioner of Police has issued prohibitory orders against posting misleading content, reels, and similar material on social media platforms.

The authorities urge the public to refrain from sharing unverified information and to maintain communal harmony during this sensitive time.

Arrests on first day of transit safety initiative ‘no surprise’: Winnipeg police

Winnipeg police say their new transit safety initiative has already borne fruit, with arrests occurring as early as Wednesday—the very day the project was announced.

Officers stationed at the Unicity Transit Hub made two separate arrests on launch day. In one incident, a 37-year-old man was apprehended as he attempted to board a bus to flee with goods stolen from a nearby business. The man was charged with theft under $5,000.

“It comes as no surprise to us,” said Supt. Brian Miln. “There’s a direct link to our transit strategy, as some individuals involved in retail crime use transit as a means to leave the area after committing shoplifting and theft inside retail outlets.”

The second incident involved a report from a transit driver who witnessed a man smash a bus window with his elbow. Police patrolling the hub quickly tracked down the 35-year-old suspect, who was charged with mischief under $5,000.

Additionally, police found flammable liquid and a lighter on the man, items he was banned from possessing under the conditions of a release order. He was subsequently charged with failing to comply with those conditions and taken into custody.

Although the transit safety initiative has only been in place for a few days, Miln said public response has been positive so far. “We’ve had a couple of people reach out to us through various means—emails, phone calls, etc.—who are very pleased to see a police presence on buses, saying the initiative is very welcome and overdue.”

The campaign was launched in response to a record high number of violent crimes recorded on transit buses and around bus shelters last year—more than triple the numbers reported in 2019. Authorities say this troubling trend is continuing.

The ramped-up police presence involves both uniformed and plainclothes officers and will focus on routes and stops flagged as problem areas to enhance safety for transit users.
