Trump begins week-long Asia tour to meet Xi Jinping amid government shutdown
**President Donald Trump Departs U.S. for Asia Tour, Including Meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping**
*By Katherine Mosack | OAN Staff*
*10:47 AM, Saturday, October 25, 2025*
President Donald Trump has departed the United States to tour three Asian nations and meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The president boarded Air Force One on Friday night and is expected to arrive in Malaysia on Sunday morning.
His first stop will be the annual Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Kuala Lumpur. Trump attended the summit once during his first term, and this year’s event comes at a critical time as Malaysia and the U.S. work to address a conflict between Thailand and Cambodia.
Following the summit, Trump is scheduled to meet with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and participate in a joint signing ceremony alongside Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. Earlier this year, Trump threatened to withhold trade deals from Thailand and Cambodia until they resolved their skirmish.
“I told the leader of Malaysia, who is a very good man, I think I owe you a trip,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, giving credit to Ibrahim for his collaborative efforts with the U.S. to halt the fighting.
In addition, a meeting with President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil may also take place on Sunday. The Brazilian leader reportedly wishes to discuss the U.S. cutting a 40% tariff on Brazilian imports and may address Trump about recent U.S. military strikes on alleged drug trafficking boats off the South American coast. While Lula has mentioned plans for a meeting, the White House has not publicly confirmed it.
After Malaysia, Trump will visit Japan and South Korea to discuss at least $900 billion in investments for U.S. factories and projects. These investments are part of an agreement to reduce Trump’s tariffs from 25% down to 15%.
In Japan, Trump will meet with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, the country’s first female prime minister and a protégé of the late Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated after leaving office. “I look forward to meeting her,” Trump said, highlighting her connection to Abe as “a good sign.”
Trump will also be hosted by Japanese Emperor Naruhito and will meet with U.S. troops stationed in Japan, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity.
One of the most highly anticipated stops is a meeting with President Xi Jinping, expected around the time of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit while Trump is in South Korea.
“We have a lot to talk about with President Xi, and he has a lot to talk about with us,” Trump told reporters as he departed the White House. “I think we’ll have a good meeting.”
The meeting is aimed at de-escalating the ongoing trade war. Recently, Beijing imposed new export restrictions on rare earth minerals vital for military applications and threatened to impose retaliatory tariffs. Earlier this week, Trump expressed optimism about reaching a “fantastic deal” with Xi.
Trump may also raise the issue of Jimmy Lai, a pro-democracy newspaper founder held in solitary confinement in China since last month, although no such discussion is officially planned.
Speculation has also emerged about a possible reunion with North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. South Korea’s Unification Minister Chung Gong-young indicated this month that a meeting in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) could be arranged. “They have a lot of nuclear weapons, but not a lot of telephone service,” Trump quipped, suggesting that setting up a visit might be difficult.
The president is expected back in Washington by October 30th. His signature will be required to sign any legislation aimed at reopening the government, which has now been shut down for 25 days.
When asked about the shutdown, Trump said he was unsure if the government funding lapse would be resolved by his return. “America is shut down and the President is skipping town,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stated on Friday night. “While Americans are struggling to make ends meet, federal workers are going without pay, and millions of families are bracing for soaring health care costs, the president is leaving the country. Instead of doing his job, President Trump is abandoning it.”
Onboard his flight to Malaysia, Trump told reporters he would be “willing to” meet with Democrats leading the shutdown once he returns, noting that he would have done so earlier if arrangements had been made. “I said come on over, just put the government back. All they have to do is say yes, then it’s over. And then we go into negotiations,” he said.

US men’s deaf national team ready for big stage
FARMINGTON — The practice is lively and fast-paced. The two dozen players move in concert, non-stop, as soccer players do. However, it is quiet. No whistles, no shouting. In a sport where communication is critical, the U.S. men’s deaf soccer team finds its own ways to stay connected.
“It’s a mixture of eye contact, recognition of the game, IQ and ASL, sign language,” says forward Michael Schmidt, 36, one of the oldest and most accomplished players on the U.S. team.
“In a way, deaf players are smarter, because we have to use our eyes more. Coaches are telling us to use your eyes all the time, and this is the perfect way; you can’t use your voice, you have to use your eyes more. That’s how we build that connection, and that’s one of the things I was attracted to about this team.”
The U.S. team has been in Connecticut all week, training for its match against Germany at Rentschler Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be shown on truTV, with streaming available on HBO Max, before the U.S. women’s team takes on Portugal at 4 p.m.
This event is part of the preparation for the next big tournament, the Deaflympics in Tokyo this November. The U.S. team won bronze at the Pan American Games last year in Brazil, clinching the medal with a 4-0 win over Mexico to qualify. Schmidt scored twice in that game.
“It’s very different from what I expected,” says Tate Lancaster, who has been with the team since 2020. “I grew up with only one other classmate in school who had hearing aids as well, but we didn’t really converse well with each other. But coming onto this team, I really learned how to communicate with sign language, and get back into this whole other community that I didn’t really know much about.”
The 23 players come from all over the country, ranging in age from 18 to 37. Many have played high school or college soccer despite their hearing impairment, but there they were allowed to wear their hearing aids. In international competitions, players are told to “take your ears out” before the games begin.
To be eligible, players must have a hearing loss of at least 55 decibels — the borderline between moderate and moderately severe — in their better ear. Some players have no hearing at all and some are completely nonverbal.
“You can’t communicate quickly enough by signing while passing the ball,” Schmidt explains. “So it’s visual, you have to be prepared, two or three plays ahead. Deaf players, we are a little more aware of our surroundings, our emotions, how we communicate with our body language. Every camp, we make sure we have about 20 important signals — get in line, come closer, check two, turn — common language that soccer players know, but it’s visual.”
Interpreters use sign language or tablets with written instructions to convey coaches’ and trainers’ messages as players huddle up.
“The vibe is great energy and a community feel,” coach Everett Palache says. “They love each other. That was the biggest thing I stepped into, like ‘holy crap, these guys really like hanging out with each other.’ They’re like brothers. I try not to mess that up.”
The U.S. deaf soccer program dates back to 1965, when it played in the Deaflympics in Washington, D.C. that year. The team finished as high as fourth in 2008 at the World Deaf Football Championships and took first at the 2019 Deaf Pan Am Games.
Since 2022, the program has been a fully-funded part of the U.S. Soccer Federation, along with other extended teams including the women’s deaf team, Cerebral Palsy (CP) team, power soccer team (which uses wheelchairs), beach soccer, and futsal (five-on-five soccer). There are specially designed spaces for the extended teams at U.S. Soccer’s Atlanta headquarters. Volkswagen is the deaf team’s presenting sponsor.
The opportunity to travel around the country allows the teams to attract and recruit players. As the U.S. men’s deaf team trained at the Farmington Sports Arena, youth teams and coaches working on adjacent fields stopped to watch the late afternoon practice — the team’s second of the day on Wednesday.
The team also visited students at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford on Thursday morning.
“Soccer is the universal language,” Schmidt says. “To play in a professional stadium with fans, on TV, it’s going to be a huge honor for us. It’s a significant moment to reach out to all players out there and say ‘hey, you can achieve your dreams.’ Everybody faces a different kind of adversity, but you can overcome it, you can get to this level, and know that there are resources out there for you. Just because there’s a disability doesn’t mean you can’t play soccer.”
Originally from Cleveland, Schmidt joined the team in 2014 after a local college coach forwarded him an email about tryouts. He drove to Pittsburgh to check it out, “and the rest has been history,” he says.
In 2016, he played at the World Cup in Italy. In a fifth-place game against England, Schmidt scored the winning goal as the fourth kicker in an overtime shootout.
“I just remember doing the celebration my family and friends told me to do,” Schmidt recalls. “You get to experience a moment not many people get to experience.”
Lancaster, from Overland Park, Kansas, graduated from Baker University but found himself idle and bored during the pandemic when he saw a notice for a tryout in Louisville on social media. He traveled at his own expense, made the team, and is now back into soccer — coaching at the youth level back home in Kansas City, Missouri, as well as playing.
“The biggest challenge I have playing with my teammates here is communicating with them,” Lancaster says. “Especially if I’m on the back line, I have to figure out a way to talk to them when they’re facing the other way and understand how to react to what their movement is. We come up with key words, condense a lot of our phrases, quick signs — we kind of come up with our own language within the team. Basic sign language, but they have more meaning in the situation we’re in. Once we cross the white line, we’re all playing the same sport.”
The chance to play on television Sunday will give two young players he has been coaching in Kansas City the opportunity to watch Lancaster on a big stage.
“I hope kids see that they can do the same thing,” Lancaster says. “A couple of kids back home, they’re hard of hearing and kind of going through a hard time, playing with other kids who are hearing and they’re struggling to fit in. This game gives them that outlet, so I hope when they see us on TV, see me playing back home, they have the realization that I can do whatever I set my mind to.”
Playing for the U.S. team has changed Lancaster’s life in many ways. He was on the team when it became part of the U.S. soccer community. He met his fiancé, Gracie Fitzgerald, who plays on the U.S. women’s deaf team.
“I have this team to thank for it,” he says.
The team prides itself on its speed and quickness.
“We play with pride, play with passion,” Schmidt says. “The game of soccer is supposed to be fun. Make them remember you on the field. This is why we’re here.”
Palache, who brought 20 years of coaching experience to the job in 2024, realized during a trip to Washington and a game against Alexandria (Va.) Soccer Association that he was in the right place.
“That really showed us our grit and our desire, and I knew that they had another level to them,” Palache says. “I had wondered how far we could push them, and that game itself pushed them. I’m ultra-competitive, and that’s when I knew they were equally competitive and I was in the right spot. The profile that we’re looking for is resiliency, athleticism, adaptability.
“We’ve actually come up with an acronym off of ‘DEAF’: they’ve got to have Drive, got to give Effort, got to be Adaptable, got to have Faith in the process. We do something called a legacy letter, get them to think about what their purpose is, and everyone said they want to leave a legacy they can live up to, and inspire the next generation that it’s possible.”

Stephen Miller Lists Potential Criminal Charges Against JB Pritzker
**JB Pritzker Threatens ICE Agents with Arrest; Stephen Miller Responds on Potential Legal Consequences**
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, on October 12th, suggested that state prosecutors might investigate the conduct of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. Speaking to FOX 32 Chicago, Pritzker stated, “The tables will turn one day. These people should recognize that maybe they’re not gonna get prosecuted today, although we’re looking at doing that, but they may get prosecuted after the Trump administration because the statute of limitations would not have run out.”
In response, President Trump’s aide Stephen Miller addressed the issue during a discussion with Will Cain, explaining how arresting a sitting governor like Pritzker could work under federal law.
### Pritzker’s Proposed Commission to Track ICE Agents
Governor Pritzker is reportedly setting up a commission aimed at tracking the activities of ICE agents. His goal is to either prosecute these agents or at least intimidate them by creating a public record of their conduct. According to reports, the commission will “set up a public record of the conduct of federal agents” and will “consider policy recommendations to prevent future harm to these individuals and communities.”
The communities Pritzker refers to include illegal aliens, criminal illegal aliens, and foreigners who did not enter the country legally. His plans might also affect the left-wing activists who obstruct justice on their behalf.
### Stephen Miller Explains the Legal Authority to Arrest State Officials
During the conversation, Will Cain asked Miller about the federal authority under which a sitting governor like Pritzker could be arrested. Miller responded, emphasizing that his explanation applies not only to Pritzker but to any state or local official who unlawfully interferes with federal law enforcement duties.
He explained, “If you engage in a criminal conspiracy to obstruct the enforcement of federal immigration laws or to unlawfully order your own police officers or officials to interfere with ICE officers or even to arrest ICE officers, you’re engaged in criminal activity.”
Miller outlined various offenses that could come into play, including obstruction of justice, harboring illegal aliens, and impeding immigration law enforcement. He also mentioned the possibility of seditious conspiracy charges depending on the conduct.
### Federal Immunity for ICE Agents
Miller reassured ICE officers of their legal protections, noting that ICE agents have federal immunity while performing their duties. “Anybody who lays a hand on you or tries to stop you or tries to obstruct you is committing a felony,” he stated.
He emphasized, “No city official, no state official, no illegal alien, no leftist agitator or domestic insurrectionist can prevent you from fulfilling your legal obligations and duties.”
The Department of Justice, Miller noted, has made clear that any official crossing the line into obstruction or criminal conspiracy against ICE officers will face justice.
### Additional Remarks
Miller also hinted that attention should be given to Letitia James, who is reportedly tracking ICE activities, suggesting that charges may be warranted.

This exchange highlights the ongoing tensions between state officials who oppose federal immigration enforcement and federal authorities defending ICE’s role. As this legal and political battle continues, it raises important questions about the balance of power and the enforcement of immigration laws in the United States.

After Being Accused Of Becoming A “Trad Wife,” Here’s How JoJo Siwa Responded
“So what, I’m in love with a man? That doesn’t discredit my past at all.”
JoJo Siwa responded to people calling her a “trad wife” following the release of her cover of the 1980s hit “Bette Davis Eyes.”
The chatter began in July when JoJo teased the cover, dressed in old Hollywood glam—a blonde bob with soft, tousled curls, a vintage frilled outfit, and bold red lipstick—singing in a soft, raspy voice.
“She dates 1 man and becomes a 1950’s housewife,” one viewer remarked, referring to JoJo’s relationship with her Big Brother UK co-star Chris Hughes. Another commented, “Girl nobody wants this,” while someone else pleaded for JoJo to “un-tradwife” herself.
JoJo addressed the comments in an interview with CNN, denying that she’s trying to be a trad wife.
“It was basically a Halloween costume,” she explained about her outfit. “People really thought I was changing everything like, damn, it was a good wig! I don’t know where ‘trad wife’ came from.”
She also addressed speculation that she’s abandoning the LGBTQ+ community amid her relationship with Chris, which she confirmed in June. Before dating him, JoJo identified as a lesbian and later said she identifies as queer while on Big Brother UK.
“I will fight for the queer community until it’s over,” JoJo said. “It’s my people. I think that people might be quick to forget the way that I came out, the age that I came out. The next generation that saw me be okay and saw the world be okay and then all of a sudden the moms and dads of these kids were okay because, yeah, ‘JoJo Siwa’s a good person’ that changed so many lives.”
“So what, I’m in love with a man? That doesn’t discredit my past at all.”
She added, “I will always make everyone around me know that they’re accepted for who they are. The people who are criticizing me for saying that I’m moving away from the queer community—which literally is not possible for me to do—those people are not doing the same for me.”
True point!

The fatal blast at a military munitions factory was a chain reaction of up to 28,000 pounds of explosives
Investigators still haven’t been able to identify the remains of two of the people killed in the October 10 explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems factory in Bucksnort, an unincorporated community about 60 miles (97 kilometers) southwest of Nashville, officials said at a news conference.
The delicate investigation at the site of the plant has concluded, but determining a cause could take months more, said Brice McCracken, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ (ATF) special agent in charge at the National Center for Explosives Training and Research. In addition to locating victims’ remains, the on-site work involved removing and disposing of explosives that didn’t detonate in the blast.
The next phase centers on ATF labs and testing facilities, where investigators will try to determine what triggered the explosion, said Jamey VanVliet, ATF special agent in charge in the Nashville division.
“Those results don’t come quickly,” VanVliet said. “They come through time, care, and precision. And that’s what this community deserves: answers that are proven, not guessed.”
### The Explosion and the Site
Authorities reported that between 24,000 and 28,000 pounds of explosives detonated that day. The blast originated on the 15,000-square-foot plant’s first floor, near kettles used in the production of an explosive mixture for the commercial mining industry, McCracken explained.
The building was primarily used to make explosives known as cast boosters—typically a mixture of TNT and RDX (also called cyclonite)—which are poured by hand into cardboard tubes. Explosives were mixed in kettles on the mezzanine level before being pumped into heating kettles on the main floor.
“Everything is mixed up top and then it pumps down into the lower floor, where it stays heated,” McCracken said. “Then they’re able to pull it out in a pitcher and each cast is hand-poured into the cardboard tube.”
The main floor also stored explosives near a loading dock. Cast boosters were cooled on that floor before packaging. After the initial explosion in the production kettles, investigators believe other explosive materials stored on the main floor also detonated.
During the investigation, authorities searched an area of about 500 acres (200 hectares), much of which was dense woods, looking for evidence. The scene was turned back over to the company on Thursday, McCracken added.
### Impact and Community
The blast, which was felt more than 20 miles (32 kilometers) away, left a smoldering wreck of twisted metal and burned-out vehicles at the factory. Authorities confirmed there were no survivors at the blast site.
Items of interest for the investigation were found more than half a mile away, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said.
Accurate Energetic Systems employs about 150 people and operates a sprawling complex in rural central Tennessee, with eight specialized production buildings and a laboratory. The facility straddles the Hickman and Humphreys county line in unincorporated Bucksnort.
The company, headquartered in nearby McEwen, serves customers in the aerospace, defense, demolition, and mining industries. It has been awarded numerous military contracts—largely by the U.S. Army and Navy—to supply different types of munitions and explosives. Their products range from bulk explosives to landmines and small breaching charges, including C-4.
In a statement on Friday, Accurate Energetic Systems CEO Wendell Stinson said the company is “continuing to support investigators and is under obligation to preserve the site for a to-be-determined period of time,” anticipating it may be “many months” before more on-site review is complete.
The company also started a fund with a local community foundation to help solicit donations for families affected by the tragedy.
### Victims and Identification Efforts
The explosion killed people ranging in age from 21 to 60. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has positively identified 14 of the 16 victims using rapid DNA testing.
Given the severe damage at the scene, TBI Director David Rausch explained that they had initially expected to identify only 40% to 50% of the victims. While their efforts have fallen short of identifying every victim, authorities have named all 16 individuals.
Officials continue conducting tests to identify the final two victims, Sheriff Davis said. He expressed the emotional toll on the families, noting, “There’s not enough words in the dictionary that we could use to describe those feelings or emotions.”
### Lawsuit Filed Over the Explosion
Last week, a lawsuit was filed in state court on behalf of the 9-year-old daughter of Jeremy Moore, one of the victims killed in the blast.
The lawsuit targets AAC Investments LLC, a company closely tied to Accurate Energetic Systems. It claims that AAC was the owner, operator, and manager of the factory and that the explosion occurred because AAC did not maintain a “reasonably safe factory” for explosives work.
Jeremy Moore, 37, was remembered fondly by his family. According to his obituary, he cherished spending time with and supporting his daughter at cheerleading, softball, and any adventure she wanted to pursue.
Lee Coleman, an attorney representing Moore’s family, stated that the complaint could be amended as more details become available and that additional defendants might be added.
A spokesperson for Accurate Energetic Systems declined to comment on the lawsuit.

This tragic event has profoundly impacted the local community, and investigations continue as authorities work to uncover the cause and provide answers to those affected.
