Public Schoolteacher Faces DOJ Probe Over ‘Unhinged’ Threat Toward ICE

The Department of Homeland Security history teacher Ron Gochez stated during a Tuesday press conference denouncing ICE raids that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents “are not the only ones with guns” and that “people have every right to defend themselves” against them.

DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin responded to Gochez’s comments, telling the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF) that such remarks endanger agents’ lives and “look criminal.”

“Calling for violence against law enforcement is un-American and beneath the conduct of someone teaching the next generation of Americans,” McLaughlin said. She added that the DHS will refer Gochez to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

“Our law enforcement officers are already facing a 1000% increase in assaults against them including terrorist attacks, cars being used as weapons, and rocks thrown at them,” McLaughlin continued. “Words have consequences and this type of rhetoric is going to get one of our officers killed.”

Neither LAUSD, Gochez, nor the DOJ responded to DCNF’s requests for comment.

Gochez led the press conference on behalf of activist group Unión del Barrio (UDB), which also did not respond to a request for comment.

In his remarks, Gochez maintained that he was not “calling for violence” by suggesting that anti-ICE agitators carry guns, though he praised rioters who threw bricks at federal agents.

“This is South Central Los Angeles. They are not the only ones with guns in this city. They’re not the only ones and don’t forget that,” Gochez told his audience.

“And I don’t say that because we’re calling for violence, I’m saying that because the people have every right to defend themselves against masked, unidentified gunmen with AR-15s and other military rifles.”

“The people have every right to defend themselves,” he continued. “That’s not violent, that’s intelligent.”

Gochez also boasted that rioters had effectively reduced ICE raids in California, mentioning those who threw hard objects at federal agents in Paramount after mass protests began in June.

“They caught some bricks. Y’all remember Paramount? They caught those bricks,” Gochez said. “This is Los Angeles and this is South Central. The people will fight back.”

Earlier this year, UDB received a letter from Senate Subcommittee on Crime and Counterterrorism Chair Josh Hawley of Missouri announcing an investigation into the group’s possible ties to California’s anti-ICE riots.

In response, UDB stated that it “has not organized, aided, abetted, financed, or engaged in any illegal activity.”

The DCNF previously reported that Gochez was seen telling an audience at a UDB-led press conference to resist ICE “by any means necessary” just one day after riots broke out.

Pablo Torre dunks on Shams for claiming Terry Rozier had been ‘cleared’ in gambling scandal

The recent news of Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier’s arrest has sent shockwaves throughout the sports world. This development comes after Rozier was reportedly “cleared” of any involvement in the ongoing gambling investigation, according to renowned journalist Shams Charania. However, fellow journalist Pablo Torre has since disputed that claim, shedding new light on the situation.

During an appearance on *The Pat McAfee Show* in June 2025, Charania stated, “Terry Rozier, as of now, has been cleared. He finished the season with Miami; there’s nothing really active as of right now with him.” This video resurfaced when Torre took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the clip, captioning it simply, “Previously.”

A few minutes later, Torre posted an update challenging the earlier assertion. He wrote, “Terry Rozier was never ‘cleared’ by the federal government in this investigation, according to [Pablo Torre Finds Out’s] reporting. Neither was Malik Beasley.”

### Arrest Announcement and Ongoing Investigation

Rozier’s arrest was officially announced on Thursday, October 23. A press conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. EST on the same day, where U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Joseph Nocella Jr. will provide further details about the case. Notably, Portland Trail Blazers coach Chauncey Billups was also taken into custody in connection with the probe.

This arrest has been a long time coming. The NBA has reportedly been aware of suspicious betting activity potentially involving Rozier for several months. Concerns first arose when Rozier left a game early due to a foot injury, just minutes after tip-off.

Following that game, a bettor reportedly placed 30 bets within an hour, totaling over $10,000. These wagers focused on Rozier’s player prop lines, betting that his performance would fall below the predicted marks. This pattern of suspicious betting was not isolated; at least six other sportsbooks flagged unusual activity involving Rozier on the same day.

### Impact on the Miami Heat

Rozier is currently in his second season with the Miami Heat, who have just begun their 2025 campaign. The Heat recently lost their season opener against the Orlando Magic, a game in which Rozier did not participate.

As this story develops, fans and analysts alike await further information from the federal authorities and the NBA regarding the implications of these allegations for Rozier and others involved.

Illnesses at Hawaii schools potentially linked to milk rise to 15

As of Thursday morning, the state Department of Health (DOH) has received reports of approximately 15 individuals experiencing gastrointestinal illness potentially linked to the recently recalled Meadow Gold chocolate milk. Most cases involve mild symptoms, including stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting. This marks an increase from Wednesday, when nine illnesses had been reported.

The reported illnesses have affected four school facilities on Oahu. Additionally, two more schools—one on Maui and another on Oahu—have reported product quality issues but no confirmed illnesses at this time.

Health officials emphasize that the investigation is ongoing, and the numbers may change as more information becomes available. Currently, no confirmed link has been established between the recalled milk and the reported illnesses. Laboratory testing of milk samples, including checks for bacterial toxins, is underway.

Preliminary inspections at the affected schools have not identified any food safety violations. The investigation began after Meadow Gold Dairy voluntarily recalled about 70,000 half-pint cartons of chocolate milk with an October 16 expiration date.

This milk, made and packaged out of state, was distributed on September 29 to nearly 200 schools and institutions across Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. The recall was issued due to “potential quality control issues,” according to a DOH news release on Tuesday night.

DOH officials have also confirmed reports that some of the milk had an unusually thick texture, resembling chocolate pudding. Meadow Gold officials stated that the company is coordinating with the Health Department and the state Department of Education to collect and replace the affected products.

Residents are urged to call the DOH Disease Reporting Line at (808) 586-4586 if they or their child experience symptoms after drinking the recalled milk. Those experiencing severe or concerning symptoms should seek medical care immediately.

Officials also advise consumers not to drink Meadow Gold chocolate milk marked “OCT 16” and to discard any product that looks, smells, or tastes unusual.

More damage found on Route 109 bridge, MassDOT hopes to reopen by end of weekend

SAUGUS, MASS. (WHDH) – Traffic troubles continue for drivers using the Route 107 bridge between Lynn and Saugus, as inspectors have uncovered more damage to the temporary structure.

Officials announced on Wednesday that the bridge would be closed until further notice after cracks were found in several deck panels. Further investigations on Thursday revealed additional concerns, leading to the decision that emergency repairs are needed before the bridge can safely reopen.

“Knowing the integrity of the bridge isn’t there, that’s the scary part, really,” said Gerson Argueta, owner of Ken’s Car Care Center located near the bridge. “Anyone coming into Lynn, Saugus, or Salem, this is the only route we have. Now with this closed, it’s causing a big jam here on this side.”

Officials indicated on Thursday that emergency repairs could take several more days. One driver told 7NEWS that their usual six-minute drive home took more than an hour due to all the detours.

MassDOT stated that their goal is to have the bridge back open to traffic by the end of the weekend.

Why Reliance Power’s CFO has been arrested by ED

**Why Reliance Power’s CFO Has Been Arrested by the ED**
*By Dwaipayan Roy | Oct 11, 2025, 11:08 AM*

**Overview**
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Ashok Pal, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Reliance Power, in connection with a money laundering case. The arrest took place on Friday night following questioning related to an alleged fake bank guarantee worth ₹68 crore. Pal is scheduled to be produced before a special court, where the ED will seek his remand for custodial interrogation.

**Details of the Case**
According to the ED, Ashok Pal played a key role in the financial activities of the company and was instrumental in submitting a bogus bank guarantee on behalf of Reliance NU BESS Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Power. The fake bank guarantee, valued at ₹68.2 crore, was submitted to the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) with the intent to defraud.

**Exposure of a Larger Racket**
The ED’s investigation has uncovered a broader racket involving the provision of fake bank guarantees to various business groups. An Odisha-based company, Biswal Tradelink, has been identified as a primary player in this fraudulent scheme. In August, the agency conducted searches on the firm and its promoters and arrested its Managing Director, Partha Sarathi Biswal.

Earlier, the Reliance Group had stated that Reliance Power was a victim of fraud in this matter.

**How the Scheme Operated**
Preliminary investigations revealed that Biswal Tradelink used an email domain strikingly similar to that of the State Bank of India (SBI) to create a false impression of authenticity. This fake email domain was used to send forged communications to SECI.

Additionally, the company facilitated fake billing for commission purposes and operated multiple undisclosed bank accounts used for suspicious transactions amounting to crores of rupees.

The ED continues its investigation as it seeks to bring all those involved in this fraud to justice.

NDA cadet found dead in hostel room in Pune; cops suspect suicide

A first-term cadet of the National Defence Academy (NDA) was found dead in his hostel room at the premier military training institute in Pune early on Friday, news agency PTI reported. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide.

The cadet’s family has alleged that harassment by seniors drove him to take the extreme step. Following the incident, a court of inquiry has been ordered by the NDA to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to police, the cadet was found dead by his batchmates after he failed to report for morning training. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, but initial findings suggest suicide, a police officer stated.

The 18-year-old cadet hailed from Lucknow and came from a family with an armed forces background. His father and uncle have served in the army, PTI reported.

Everything appeared normal until he recently complained to his mother about harassment by some seniors. After these complaints, the family took the matter to the authorities at the academy. His mother and grandmother visited the NDA before Navratri to raise concerns about the issue. The NDA authorities responded and assured them that appropriate action would be taken, according to the cadet’s maternal uncle.

The uncle further revealed that the cadet had spoken to his mother on Thursday afternoon and seemed normal during the call. “He spoke to his mother in the afternoon, but it seems something happened later in the evening as there was some party there. It seems something happened during the party which made him very sad and prompted him to take the extreme step,” he said.

He also mentioned that the cadet was disturbed by the alleged harassment and had expressed thoughts of discontinuing his training. “He used to say that he did not want to continue at the academy,” he added.

In an official statement, the NDA confirmed the cadet’s death and said an inquiry has been initiated.

“A first-term cadet died in the early hours of Friday. He was found in lifeless condition in his cabin by fellow cadets after he failed to report for the day’s training. He was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital, Khadakwasla, where he was declared dead at 6:30 am,” the statement read.

The NDA added that the cadet’s family and local police had been informed, and a court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. Police confirmed that further investigation is underway.
