EIT Water prepares to call for projects in 2027

EIT Water, the EU’s new community for water-related innovation, is set to start work in 2026, with the first calls for projects and training launching in 2027.

This new knowledge and innovation community will be the tenth launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Like its predecessors, EIT Water will provide entrepreneurship training, as well as business and acceleration support to innovators across Europe.

In November, the EIT selected a group of 50 organisations from 24 countries to launch EIT Water, with Denmark’s Aarhus University taking the lead. The consortium will receive €5 million and one year to establish the organisation, recruit staff, and develop a comprehensive strategy.

“It’s like rapidly building and scaling a very fast start-up,” said Michelle Williams, project coordinator at Aarhus University, in an interview with Science|Business.

Rams thump Cardinals to stay tied atop NFC West

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Matthew Stafford threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns, while Puka Nacua and Blake Corum both scored twice as the Los Angeles Rams dominated the Arizona Cardinals 45-17 on Sunday to stay tied for the NFC West lead.

The Rams (10-3) scored 35 unanswered points to bounce back from last week’s turnover-filled loss to the Carolina Panthers, securing their seventh win in eight games. They now share the division lead with the Seattle Seahawks and hold a one-game lead over the San Francisco 49ers.

The struggling Cardinals (3-10) have lost five straight and 10 of their past 11 games after a strong 2-0 start to the season.

Los Angeles fell into an early 7-0 hole but rallied to take a 24-10 lead by halftime. The Rams scored just before the break on a beautiful 28-yard pass from Stafford to Nacua, who had six catches for 136 yards in the first half. The Rams also found the end zone on a pair of 2-yard runs by Kyren Williams and Blake Corum.

In the first half, Los Angeles totaled 306 yards, finishing the game with 530 yards of offense.

The Rams maintained their momentum into the second half, scoring another touchdown on a 6-yard pass from Stafford to Colby Parkinson that extended their lead to 31-10.

Los Angeles capped their offensive onslaught with two quick touchdowns to start their next possession. After Nate Landman intercepted Jacoby Brissett’s pass late in the third quarter, Stafford connected with Nacua for a 31-yard touchdown, pushing the lead to 38-10.

On the following drive, Corum broke free against a flat-footed Cardinals defense for a 48-yard touchdown run, putting the Rams up 45-10.

Stafford completed 22 of 31 passes. Nacua finished with 167 receiving yards, while Corum rushed for 128 yards.

The injury-depleted Cardinals struck first with a 7-0 lead less than three minutes into the game, thanks to a crisp five-play, 67-yard drive that culminated in Brissett’s 19-yard touchdown pass to Michael Wilson.

Wilson caught 11 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Brissett, starting his eighth straight game in place of injured starter Kyler Murray, completed 25 of 44 passes for 271 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Tight end Trey McBride had five catches for 58 yards, marking his 15th consecutive game with at least five receptions — tying the all-time mark for a tight end previously set by Travis Kelce.

Arizona has now suffered another lopsided loss to a division rival this season, following defeats to the Seahawks (44-22 in Week 10) and the 49ers (41-22 in Week 11). The Rams have won 15 of their past 18 meetings against the Cardinals.

Injuries: Rams cornerback Darious Williams (tibia) was among five inactives for the game.

Federal immigration agents deployed tear gas and pepper spray on Saturday to disperse a crowd that had gathered to protest a prolonged arrest in a northwest Chicago suburb.

The standoff began around 10 a.m. Saturday when approximately 15 agents arrived to arrest an unidentified man at an apartment building on the 1600 block of Maple Lane in Elgin.

According to Elgin police, there had been a traffic crash earlier that morning involving a federal agent and the man, who then fled to the building.

Ernie Johnson pays tribute to Lee Corso on GameDay: ‘Not so fast my friend’

Lee Corso said goodbye to ESPN’s College GameDay after 38 years earlier this season, but he hasn’t been forgotten.

Inside the NBA host Ernie Johnson was the guest picker on Saturday’s edition of the show. As a Georgia alum, the decorated broadcaster was there to show support for his Bulldogs as they prepare to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide for the SEC Championship.

When the moment of truth arrived, Nick Saban picked Alabama to beat Georgia, to the surprise of no one. Following him was Johnson, decked out in Bulldogs gear. After pondering Saban’s prediction for a few moments, Johnson turned towards the legendary head coach and blurted out Corso’s iconic phrase, “Not so fast, my friend,” before picking Georgia to win.

Corso would often deploy the phrase in the same way, countering a prediction that differed from his, although he would also sometimes get tricky and reverse course with his prediction in the end. Such was the magic of Lee Corso.

EXCLUSIVE: DoW Legal Advisor: ‘Boat With Cocaine, Terrorists Heading to Poison Americans Is Legit Target’

RedState Exclusive
December 5, 2025
Washington, D.C.

As Democrats escalate their attacks following Capitol Hill briefings by U.S. Special Operations Command commander Admiral Frank M. Bradley, prominent military defense attorney and former Trump Navy lawyer Tim Parlatore told RedState that politicians are deliberately mischaracterizing lawful combat actions.

In an exclusive interview, Parlatore laid out the legal distinction at the heart of the controversy:

“You have a boat full of cocaine and terrorists heading to this country to poison and kill Americans. That’s a legitimate target,” Parlatore said.

“You then do battle damage assessment. The boat and the cargo remain legitimate military targets that SOUTHCOM has been ordered to put on the bottom of the ocean.”

Parlatore referred to the death of drug traffickers resulting from the second strike as “collateral damage.”

These comments stand in sharp contrast to statements made on Wednesday by top Democrats immediately after viewing classified drone footage.

Democrat Rep. Jim Himes (CT-4) described the video as “one of the most troubling things I’ve seen in my time in public service.”

Democrat Rep. Adam Smith (WA-9) accused U.S. forces of firing on “two shirtless people clinging to the bow of a capsized and inoperable boat,” declaring Admiral Bradley bears “ultimate responsibility” for a possible war crime.

Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) said he was “deeply disturbed” and demanded the immediate release of the unedited footage.

Undeterred by such criticism, SOUTHCOM announced a successful lethal kinetic strike yesterday, December 4, confirming the destruction of a narco-trafficking vessel carrying illicit narcotics and killing four male narco-terrorists in international waters.

Despite the clear mission success in disrupting cartel routes, Democrats appear poised to attack every aspect of the operation.

Admiral Bradley personally appeared on Capitol Hill to defend Operation Southern Spear, which has seized or destroyed hundreds of tons of narcotics since September.

The left-wing attacks are built on a now-debunked Washington Post story alleging Secretary of War Pete Hegseth issued an illegal “kill them all” order.

Admiral Bradley’s testimony delivers a devastating blow to the Democratic narrative surrounding the drug boat story. The four-star commander and Bronze Star with Valor recipient now faces intensifying partisan scrutiny that military legal experts like Parlatore argue isn’t grounded in the law of armed conflict at sea.

In conversation with RedState, Parlatore drew a direct historical parallel to emphasize his point, citing one of the most celebrated moments in U.S. Navy history:

“Take the Battle of Midway. One of the Japanese carriers we blew up was burning, dead in the water, no longer able to fight or launch aircraft, and it was full of wounded Japanese sailors. You know what we did? We kept throwing torpedoes into it until it went to the bottom of the ocean. And that was lawful. The goal was to put the ship down so it couldn’t be towed back, repaired, and put back into the fight. The goal was not to kill all the wounded Japanese sailors on board.”

Parlatore argued that this example shows sinking a disabled enemy vessel—even one carrying wounded personnel—has been standard naval practice for generations and remains fully consistent with the law of armed conflict at sea.

Saugus shines bright at annual tree lighting

SAUGUS Town Hall was aglow with festive lights Friday night as Santa Claus led the countdown to kick off the holiday season.

The evening began with Town Manager Scott Crabtree welcoming everyone to the celebration. “I’m very, very happy to have everybody here. It’s a cold night, but everybody’s here, and all the families are waiting for Santa,” Crabtree said.

At precisely 7 p.m., Santa arrived with his sleigh, guided by a horse, to the delight of families gathered outside Town Hall.

Before the ceremonial lighting, Board of Selectmen Chair Debra Panetta addressed the crowd. “Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Holidays for whatever you enjoy,” Panetta shared. “We wish you, on behalf of the Board of Selectmen, a very happy and healthy New Year. I want to thank the police, the fire, the DPW, the town manager, Jeannie (Meredith), and Mike (Gaffney) from his (Crabtree’s) office. I want to thank the Saugus High School band for coming out in this frigid weather. Thank you, they did a great job!”

Panetta also expressed gratitude to Santa, Building and Maintenance, and Youth and Recreation, recognizing their efforts in making the event possible.

As the countdown concluded and the switch was flipped, the trees surrounding Town Hall and the town center burst into light, officially ushering in the holiday season for Saugus.

From Signal to Silence: Erika Kirk’s Non-Answer Becomes Latest Setback for JD Vance

**Vice President JD Vance Faces Renewed Questions Within Conservative Circles Amid Erika Kirk’s Hesitant Endorsement**

Vice President JD Vance is under fresh scrutiny regarding his standing within conservative circles following a pointed moment caught on camera. Erika Kirk, a prominent Christian conservative figure, was directly asked whether she would endorse Vance. What followed was far from a clear-cut declaration, quickly drawing attention at a particularly inopportune time for the Vice President.

### The Viral Clip That Sparked Questions About Vance

When asked about endorsing Vance, Erika Kirk responded, “He is a dear friend, my husband and him were very good friends,” with a smile. She recounted how her late husband, Charlie Kirk, had been a vocal supporter of Vance, adding, “We adored JD” and emphasizing Charlie’s strong endorsement of the Vice President.

However, when pressed for a straightforward answer, Erika appeared uncertain. She said, “I do have to preface this from the standpoint of… we tend as humans to look past. We have very short attention spans and very short memories,” before steering the conversation back to her husband.

Instead of giving a direct “yes” or “no,” Erika chose to pay tribute to Charlie Kirk’s dedication. “I would ask that we enjoy the fact that, and maybe you don’t, but I will enjoy the fact that my husband worked so hard, so hard, for this past election. And I think it would be good for us to appreciate that hard work and enjoy the fact that we do have a person in the office that we voted for,” she said.

### Netizens React to Erika’s Reply

A clip from the interview quickly circulated on X (formerly Twitter), attracting thousands of reactions. Many interpreted Erika’s response as a sign that she might be distancing herself from JD Vance, noting her hesitant tone. Some even read it as a subtle non-endorsement. “So that’s a no,” one user commented.

Others expressed confusion, admitting they couldn’t quite decipher whether Erika was endorsing Vance or not. “I don’t even know what that means,” wrote another user on X.

### Vance Leaked Again: Renewed Controversy

Erika Kirk’s apparent hesitation occurs amid renewed scrutiny of Vance tied to a leaked Signal chat from earlier this year discussing the Yemen attack in March. According to a new Inspector General report, Vance rejoined the chat group a day after the leak and joked, “This chat’s kind of dead. Anything going on?”

This move raised eyebrows as it appeared to downplay a serious national security issue. The group had been using an unauthorized messaging app to discuss sensitive matters. Other members ignored Vance’s attempt at humor and reportedly scrambled to conceal their digital footprints. One social media user remarked jokingly that the group “got leaked again.”

### Why Erika’s Endorsement Matters

Erika Kirk is a significant voice in faith-based advocacy. Alongside her late husband Charlie Kirk, she has been influential in promoting conservative values, family issues, and Christian engagement in public life. The Kirks are key figures in persuading evangelical voters to back particular candidates.

Though Erika’s response was vague, it seems to join a growing number of moments where faith leaders have hesitated to firmly align with JD Vance — despite administration efforts to strengthen ties with conservative Christian communities.

As questions continue to swirl around Vance’s political future and relationships within conservative and faith-based circles, Erika Kirk’s ambiguous stance highlights the challenges he now faces in securing unwavering support among key constituencies.
