Mumbai Police Crime Branch Unit-8 Bust Interstate E-Commerce Barcode Fraud Racket, Seize ₹45 Lakh Goods; 3 Accused Arrested

**Mumbai Police Bust Interstate Fraud Racket Involving Barcode Swapping on E-Commerce Deliveries**

Mumbai: The Mumbai Police Crime Branch Unit-8 has successfully busted an interstate fraud racket that was duping e-commerce companies by cleverly swapping barcodes on delivery boxes.

**Accused Details**
The accused have been identified as:
– Pankajkumar Hariram Jindal (32), a farmer from Kasba Survachain, Sirsa, Haryana
– Vijaykumar Mahendrasing Saharan (32), a driver from Rampura, Post Thana, Taluka Hansi, District Hisar, Haryana
– Shamsher Singh Raghuveer Alan (32), a farmer from Rampura, Post Thana, Taluka Hansi, Hisar, Haryana
– Sumantkumar Dauram Sahu (29), a driver and delivery worker from Ranbod, Ward No. 8, Taluka Nawagarh, Bemetara, Chhattisgarh

**Modus Operandi of the Gang**
According to police sources, the gang operated in collusion with delivery personnel to manipulate the delivery process. They would place multiple online orders for both expensive and inexpensive items. The criminals removed the barcode sticker from the costly product and pasted it onto the cheaper item.

Later, when the delivery arrived, they would refuse to accept the expensive item, claiming it was an “incorrect order.” As a result, the e-commerce platform would issue a refund for the costly product. Meanwhile, the fraudsters retained the expensive item, effectively pocketing the refund amount.

This tactic caused huge financial losses to various e-commerce companies.

**Trap and Arrests**
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team laid a trap in Borivali on October 6 and caught three accused red-handed swapping barcodes inside a delivery tempo.

Investigation revealed that two of the accused are residents of Haryana, while the third is from Chhattisgarh.

**Seizure and Custody**
Police seized goods worth ₹45 lakh from the accused, including electronic items valued at ₹34 lakh. Additionally, a Tata tempo worth ₹7 lakh and a Hyundai car valued at ₹4 lakh were confiscated.

All three accused were produced in court and subsequently remanded to police custody until October 13. The Mumbai Police are continuing their investigation to identify other gang members and insiders within the delivery chain who may be involved in this scam.

Shilpa Shetty Questioned By Mumbai EOW For 4.5 Hours At Her Residence In ₹60 Crore Fraud Case

**Bollywood Actress Shilpa Shetty and Husband Raj Kundra Under Investigation in Rs 60 Crore Fraud Case**

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, are currently under investigation in a Rs 60 crore fraud case. According to sources from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kundra allegedly transferred around Rs 15 crore of the total amount to a company account owned by Shetty.

**Shilpa Shetty Questioned by EOW in Rs 60 Crore Fraud Case**

In the latest development, Shilpa Shetty was questioned by EOW officials in Mumbai for over four and a half hours regarding her role and financial involvement in the case. Officials are verifying the flow of funds and the purpose behind the alleged transfers. So far, statements from five people, including Raj Kundra, have been recorded by the authorities.

**Shilpa Shetty Shares Bank Details During Interrogation**

During the interrogation, Shilpa Shetty provided information about her bank statements and shared details related to the alleged transactions that took place in the bank account of her advertising company. The police took several crucial documents from the actress, which are now under examination by the officials.

In September, the Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police had recorded the statement of Raj Kundra as part of the ongoing probe. Mumbai Police had issued a summon to Kundra, asking him to appear before them for investigation.

**Mumbai Police Statement**

An official update from Mumbai Police read:
“Investigations are going on against actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra in an alleged fraud case of Rs. 60 crore. A summon was issued by the Economic Offences Wing of Mumbai Police to Raj Kundra. He was asked to appear before police for the investigation.”

**Bombay High Court Denies Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s Phuket Travel Plea**

The couple had earlier requested permission from the Bombay High Court to travel abroad for a family vacation in Phuket, Thailand, from October 2 to 5. They cited confirmed bookings for travel and stay as part of their plea. However, the court denied their request.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra had filed a petition seeking a stay on the lookout notice issued by Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing. Their lawyers, Niranjan Mundargi and Keral Mehta, argued that despite a 2021 case against them, the couple had traveled abroad multiple times and returned to cooperate fully with investigations. They asserted that the couple should be allowed to travel while the current probe is ongoing.

Trump defies court order; deploys National Guard to Oregon, Chicago

**Trump Defies Court Order; Deploys National Guard to Oregon and Chicago**

*By Snehil Singh | October 6, 2025, 10:57 AM*

United States President Donald Trump has defied a federal court order by deploying National Guard troops to Portland, Oregon, and Chicago, Illinois. This move follows a judge’s temporary block on the deployment of 200 troops to Oregon.

California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the decision, announcing plans to sue and describing the action as “un-American” and “a breathtaking abuse of the law and power.”

### Deployment Details

President Trump authorized the deployment of 300 National Guard troops to Chicago to address what he called “out-of-control crime.” The decision came after clashes between immigration authorities and protesters in Chicago, where officials reported that an armed woman was shot following allegations that she and others rammed their cars into police vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon confirmed that 200 members of the California National Guard were reassigned to Portland in support of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal personnel. Oregon Governor Tina Kotek confirmed that 101 California National Guard members had already arrived in Oregon.

### Lack of Communication and Local Opposition

Governor Kotek revealed that there was no official communication from the federal government regarding the deployment. She emphasized, “There is no need for military intervention in Oregon. There is no insurrection in Portland. No threat to national security.”

The California National Guard had been federally activated in June for a 90-day period as part of President Trump’s broader strategy to combat rising crime and assist with deportation efforts. The California Department of Justice confirmed that the Trump administration sought to extend this federalization for an additional 90 days.

### Ongoing Protests and Political Context

Protests continue in Portland and other cities in response to the Trump administration’s increased immigration enforcement. Portland is noted for having a significant presence of Antifa activists—a loosely organized group of far-left activists. Recently, President Trump signed an executive order designating Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.

### Reactions from Illinois Leadership

The Illinois governor accused President Trump of “manufacturing a crisis” by deploying troops, suggesting the move is politically motivated rather than based on actual public safety needs.

The deployment of National Guard troops to Portland and Chicago marks a contentious escalation in the ongoing tensions between federal authorities and local governments, highlighting deep divisions over immigration enforcement and public safety strategies.
