Allen Iverson gives advice to Mavs’ rookie Cooper Flagg

From one No. 1 NBA Draft pick to another, Allen Iverson has some valuable advice for Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg, as well as others just starting their careers in the league.

In a conversation with TMZ, Iverson told Flagg to take things “one day at a time.” He emphasized the importance of giving everything on the court. “The most important thing, and I think this will take care of everything, is playing every game like it’s your last, you know?” Iverson added. “You do that and everything else takes care of itself.”

At just 18 years old, Flagg is the youngest NBA Draft pick since LeBron James in 2003. Following the 2025 NBA Draft, Flagg shared how being drafted by the Dallas Mavericks felt “amazing” and described it as a “dream come true.”

So far, the Mavs have yet to secure a win this season, but Flagg has been making a strong impression. In his NBA debut on October 22, Flagg recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds against the San Antonio Spurs. Just two days later, in his second game against the Washington Wizards, he scored 18 points, added six assists, and grabbed five rebounds.

“It was a lot of energy in the building. I thought we were competing at a high level in that fourth quarter and playing the play we want to play,” Flagg said after the Wizards game. “I think we took somewhat of a step in the right direction, but it has to be a lot better. I know I’m kicking myself, I’m not happy and I’m a little upset.”

Flagg continued, “I’m competitive. I love to win. It’s not a great start. We’ve got a lot of film to look at, a lot of stuff to look at, and a lot to improve.”

While the Mavericks have had a rough start this year, LeBron James shared his confidence in Flagg’s future. He pointed out that Flagg is in good hands, being coached by NBA champion and Hall of Famer Jason Kidd and playing alongside several NBA legends.

“He has the benefit, unlike myself, he gets to join a team that’s established with Hall of Fame guys Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving right off the bat. Hall of Fame coach, Jason Kidd. You know, these guys are like, they can give him the whole blueprint while he continues to learn what his blueprint will be,” LeBron said on his *Mind the Game* podcast.

“I think that will be an incredible thing to have that type of presence, that type of leadership, that type of just basketball IQ and knowledge around him every single day from those pieces,” LeBron added. “So, I think he’s going to be amazing.”

The next Mavericks game is tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET against the Toronto Raptors.

NFL Announces Punishment for Texans Star Before Showdown Against 49ers

The Houston Texans may have been proven correct in their arguments on behalf of linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, following the NFL’s latest decision to fine cornerback Derek Stingley—but not Al-Shaair—ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

Al-Shaair was flagged for unnecessary roughness after tackling Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold along the sidelines in the first quarter of “Monday Night Football.” Despite the penalty call, the NFL chose not to fine Al-Shaair. Meanwhile, Seahawks linebacker Greenlaw, who protested the penalty during and after the game, was also not fined.

### Derek Stingley Tagged With Fine After Facemask Penalty

Although Stingley’s penalty did not attract as much attention as Al-Shaair’s, it still cost the All-Pro cornerback $11,593. Stingley, who is under a three-year, $90 million contract, was penalized for grabbing wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s facemask during a return after intercepting a pass from Darnold.

The play stood, granting the Texans possession after they had turned the ball over on downs two plays earlier.

Additionally, Smith-Njigba was fined $14,491 for unsportsmanlike conduct due to dunking on the goalpost. It was an expensive night for Stingley, the Texans, and Smith-Njigba alike.

### Al-Shaair Avoids Further Penalty

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio highlighted the surprising absence of a fine for Al-Shaair on the NFL’s football operations portal, especially given the Texans team captain’s prior history of fines. Earlier this season, Al-Shaair was penalized for a hit to the head of Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward.

“Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair has a fairly extensive history of fines for in-game infractions,” Florio wrote on October 25. “He seemed poised to receive another one after being called for unnecessary roughness during a tackle of Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold on Monday night. Ultimately, no fine was imposed.”

Florio noted that while the officials ruled the play as unnecessary roughness, the league office—the same group that suspended Al-Shaair for three games last December—decided against fining him again.

Previously, Florio had anticipated further discipline for Al-Shaair due to his past infractions. In an article dated October 21, he questioned whether the linebacker’s third finable offense since returning from suspension might trigger another fine or even a suspension.

Instead, the league appeared to accept the circumstances closer to how Al-Shaair himself described them.

### Al-Shaair Stands Ground After Latest Polarizing Penalty

Al-Shaair has been adamant that he did nothing wrong on the play. He told reporters on October 21 that he questioned the officials during the Texans’ eventual loss to the Seahawks but was given mixed messages, being told he hit Darnold late.

“It really was me running with my receiver, him running. I pushed off of the receiver, right to the tackle. He lowers his shoulder. We both just kind of hit each other,” Al-Shaair explained. “I’m driving him. He’s trying to drive his legs. Still no whistle, but my head is in his chest. So, I don’t really know where I’m at on the field. There’s still no whistle. They never blew the whistle until after I dropped him on the ground.”

He continued, “It’s just confusing because that happened a whole bunch today. And I don’t, I guess, normally, think that you’re able to kind of play a little bit longer with the whistle. But it just awkwardly—if the guy stopped, then blow the whistle. So, I just…it was weird.”

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans backed Al-Shaair’s explanation of the play, supporting his linebacker in the aftermath of the controversial call.

Jock O’Lantern: Pumpkin carver goes viral for Taylor Swift creation, fans demand Kelce gourd

They’re out of their gourds over these celebrity pumpkins. Karrah Youngblood’s amazing likeness of Taylor Swift carved into a pumpkin racked up 11.6 million social media views, with swooning Swifties demanding she do the same for Travis Kelce.

“I was like, ‘That’s a great idea. Plus he’s good looking.’ I thought he turned out great,” Youngblood, 47, told The Post ahead of Halloween.

The Oklahoma graphic designer posted the spellbinding squashes in a TikTok video she captioned “two of my pumpkins are getting married.” One viewer commented, “Bet the pumpkins last longer than the marriage!”

Last September, Youngblood had a mere 400 followers on TikTok and Instagram. But after she posted a video of her Beyoncé pumpkin—which now has a staggering 11.2 million combined views—she amassed nearly 70 million views of her A-list art.

The single mom, who makes her creations using only a 97-cent cutting knife, an $18 chisel, a thumbtack, and a $3.50 pumpkin, sells her carvings for as much as $1,100. She’s partnered with companies like Spotify, for whom she carved Megan Thee Stallion, and Comic Con, which asked for William Shatner.

“And I don’t even need to send them the pumpkin. I just need to send them a 15 to 30-second video,” she said.

Her process, which takes an hour and a half, begins with designing a pattern in Adobe Illustrator, printing it out, and taping it on the pumpkin. She then uses the thumbtack to make holes around the outlines and spends about 30 minutes carving it out.

“All of us have highlights, shadows, and midtones in our faces. And there are basically three depths of a pumpkin that are easily accessed: either cut all the way through, scraped off, or left alone,” she explained. “So before the light turns on, it appears as a blubbering mess, but when the light shines through, they become super realistic.”

The self-proclaimed music and sports nerd focuses her work on singers like Freddie Mercury, Kurt Cobain, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna, and athletes such as Peyton Manning, Kevin Durant, and Russell Westbrook—but also takes suggestions from fans.

“Somebody asked for a Paris Hilton, and then Paris Hilton followed me on TikTok, which was really cool.”

In September, she created one for the late Ozzy Osbourne, and his son Jack “liked” the post.

As for future creations, she is mustering up the courage to attempt a famous face she knows will be her trickiest.

“One of my followers told me if I can carve a spot on Post Malone, I’ll be crowned pumpkin queen for life. The diamond teeth and face tattoos might destroy me, but I like my chances.”

After Being Accused Of Becoming A “Trad Wife,” Here’s How JoJo Siwa Responded

“So what, I’m in love with a man? That doesn’t discredit my past at all.”

JoJo Siwa responded to people calling her a “trad wife” following the release of her cover of the 1980s hit “Bette Davis Eyes.”

The chatter began in July when JoJo teased the cover, dressed in old Hollywood glam—a blonde bob with soft, tousled curls, a vintage frilled outfit, and bold red lipstick—singing in a soft, raspy voice.

“She dates 1 man and becomes a 1950’s housewife,” one viewer remarked, referring to JoJo’s relationship with her Big Brother UK co-star Chris Hughes. Another commented, “Girl nobody wants this,” while someone else pleaded for JoJo to “un-tradwife” herself.

JoJo addressed the comments in an interview with CNN, denying that she’s trying to be a trad wife.

“It was basically a Halloween costume,” she explained about her outfit. “People really thought I was changing everything like, damn, it was a good wig! I don’t know where ‘trad wife’ came from.”

She also addressed speculation that she’s abandoning the LGBTQ+ community amid her relationship with Chris, which she confirmed in June. Before dating him, JoJo identified as a lesbian and later said she identifies as queer while on Big Brother UK.

“I will fight for the queer community until it’s over,” JoJo said. “It’s my people. I think that people might be quick to forget the way that I came out, the age that I came out. The next generation that saw me be okay and saw the world be okay and then all of a sudden the moms and dads of these kids were okay because, yeah, ‘JoJo Siwa’s a good person’ that changed so many lives.”

“So what, I’m in love with a man? That doesn’t discredit my past at all.”

She added, “I will always make everyone around me know that they’re accepted for who they are. The people who are criticizing me for saying that I’m moving away from the queer community—which literally is not possible for me to do—those people are not doing the same for me.”

True point!
