Today’s Wordle Definition & Etymology Remit comes from Latin remittere, meaning “to send back, release, relax, or let go.” It’s formed from re- (“back, again”) + mittere (“to send”). In Middle English, remitten meant “to forgive, pardon, or cancel a debt,” which is why remit today still means things like “cancel,” “forgive,” or “send payment.” Be sure to follow me for all your daily puzzle-solving guides, TV show and movie reviews and more here on this blog!.

15 ways drinking water can boost your health

Water is the essence of life. It makes up around 60% of the adult human body and is involved in nearly every vital function, from regulating body temperature to removing waste and transporting nutrients. While most of us know that staying hydrated is important, the full range of health benefits that water provides is often underestimated. This review explores 15 powerful ways drinking enough water can support your health, backed by science and explained in simple terms. Maintains the balance of body fluids Water plays a central role in digestion, absorption, circulation, saliva production, nutrient transport, and temperature regulation. When you are properly hydrated, these essential processes run more efficiently, helping your body stay in balance. Supports healthy weight management Drinking water can support weight management in several ways. It may help reduce appetite, boost metabolism, and increase feelings of fullness. Replacing sugary or high-calorie drinks with water is a simple yet effective way to reduce overall calorie intake. Boosts physical performance Water helps deliver oxygen and nutrients to your muscles and prevents fatigue. When cells lose their fluid and electrolyte balance, muscles become weaker, leading to tiredness and reduced performance. Staying hydrated is especially important during physical activity. Improves skin health Your skin contains a significant amount of water and relies on hydration to maintain its elasticity and protective function. Dehydration can make your skin look dull, dry, and more prone to wrinkles. Drinking enough water can help your skin stay soft and healthy-looking. Supports kidney function The kidneys remove toxins and waste products from the body through urine. When you consume enough water, your urine flows more easily, remains light in colour, and is less likely to form crystals or kidney stones. Promotes regular bowel movements Water helps keep digestion moving smoothly through the intestines. When fluid intake is too low, the colon pulls water from stool, which can lead to constipation. Adequate hydration supports regular, healthy bowel function. Enhances exercise endurance Proper hydration improves stamina and heat tolerance during workouts or sports. It helps maintain blood volume and regulate body temperature, allowing you to exercise for longer with better efficiency. Lubricates and protects joints Water is a major component of cartilage and the fluid that cushions your joints. Staying hydrated helps keep joints flexible and may reduce stiffness and discomfort, especially during movement. Supports brain function The brain is made up of about 70-80% water. Even mild dehydration can affect focus, memory, alertness, and decision-making. Drinking enough water helps your brain perform at its best. Improves mood and mental wellbeing Dehydration has been linked to increased fatigue, confusion, irritability, and low mood. Maintaining good hydration can support emotional stability and overall mental wellbeing. Reduces the risk of headaches Lack of fluids is a common trigger for headaches and migraines. Increasing your daily water intake may help reduce the frequency and intensity of these painful episodes. Aids digestion and metabolism Water helps break down food so your body can absorb nutrients more efficiently. Drinking water before and during meals can support digestion and contribute to a healthy metabolic rate. Helps the body detox naturally Water enables the removal of waste and toxins through urination, sweating, and bowel movements. These natural detoxification processes rely on adequate hydration to function properly. Prevents bad breath A dry mouth encourages bacterial growth, which can cause unpleasant breath. Drinking water keeps your mouth moist, supports saliva production, and helps wash away food particles and bacteria. Regulates body temperature Water absorbs body heat and releases it through sweat on the skin’s surface. This cooling system is vital during exercise, fever, or exposure to hot environments and helps prevent overheating. How much water do you need? Water needs vary depending on age, body size, activity level, climate, and overall health. A common guideline is the “8×8 rule”, which suggests drinking eight 8-ounce (about 250 ml) glasses of water per day. However, some people may need more, especially if they are physically active or live in a hot climate. Listening to your body is just as important. Thirst, the colour of your urine (light yellow is ideal), and your energy levels are good indicators of your hydration status. Water is not just a simple drink it is a vital nutrient essential for survival and optimal health. From supporting brain function to keeping joints lubricated and regulating body temperature, proper hydration plays a key role in nearly every system in the body. Making a habit of drinking enough water each day is one of the simplest, most powerful choices you can make for your long-term health and wellbeing.

Yes, That Was Linda Hamilton in “Stranger Things” Season 5

Linda Hamilton has entered the Stranger Things universe. The beloved action star, perhaps best known for her performance as Sarah Connor in The Terminator series of films, has made her debut in the first batch of episodes that dropped from season 5 of Netflix’s hit series. Hamilton, 69, joins the cast as antagonist Dr. Kay, a military scientist hunting down Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Kay makes her series debut in the premiere episode, “Chapter One; The Crawl,” but her involvement in the series has been long-teased ahead of the release of Volume 1 on Nov. 26. “She’s got a special agenda there that is kind of withheld throughout most of the season,” Hamilton previously told Netflix’s Tudum. “And that’s all I can say about that. But she was great fun to play. They gave me some good stuff to do. Got to mix it up a little bit.” Hamilton’s first scene shows her dissecting a creature from the Upside Down that doesn’t bite “but does strangle.” She’s annoyed by a sergeant who tells her they failed to capture Eleven. “Please tell your commander that I am running into a wall here,” she tells the sergeant. “People are dying, innocent people. I need the girl.” Hamilton’s arrival in the franchise comes nearly a decade after it first launched on the streamer in 2016. She told Variety that she’s been a fan of the show “from the beginning” and that her Stranger Things love “never subsided.” As she recalled, Hamilton phoned her agent a month before scoring the role and floated the idea of retirement (due, in part, to “a really bad hip problem” and travel schedules). But then she got the call about Stranger Things. “There’s a part of me that would almost rather watch it than be in it, because now that I’m in it, I won’t get to see it,” Hamilton told Variety. “I don’t watch my work. I cannot separate myself and my critical inner person from just someone that’s enjoying watching it. And it’s such a feast to watch this show.” She added, “So during our script readings, I am watching everything, because I’m never going to get to see it on the screen and to watch it unfold.” Never miss a story sign up for PEOPLE’s free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Matt Duffer described the character of Dr. Kay to Empire as “hyper-intelligent and intimidating,” as well as a scientist who knows how to “shoot a gun.” While she’s technically “the last one to arrive at the party” in terms of casting, as she told Tudum, Hamilton had “great fun” on set despite it being “a little nerve-wracking at first.” Season 5 of Stranger Things kicks off in the fall of 1987 after Vecna “vanished” with his “plans unknown,” per an official synopsis from Netflix. It marks the show’s newest installment since season 4 concluded in July 2022. It also marks the end of the series. Brown, 21, told PEOPLE at the season premiere in Los Angeles on Nov. 6 that building a family from the show since its debut is “probably the most amazing part about” the experience. “It’s taught me a lot of lessons about being a professional person, about being an actor, about being a friend,” she said. “It’s given me the most amazing people in my life to call up when I need them most, and that’s my family.” Stranger Things season 5 Volume 1 is now available to stream on Netflix. It will be followed by Volume 2 on Dec. 25 and the finale on Dec. 31.

2026 Mock Predicts Rams Make Shocking Selections

The Los Angeles Rams have found themselves atop of the NFC after Week 12 and now have a real possibility of having the first round bye in the playoffs. The Rams have cemented themselves as one of the top contender for the Super Bowl after a tough stretch the last three weeks. LA currently has the pieces to compete now and the future. One NFL analyst reveal their latest 2026 mock draft, which can help the Rams return with a youthful roster. Rams Select Offensive Lineman With First Pick The Los Angeles Rams have two first round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft after their traded away their 2025 first rounder to the Atlanta Falcons. In exchange, the Rams received the Falcons first round pick for next years draft. Atlanta currently has a record of 4-7 after Week 12, giving the Rams a high draft pick in 2026. CBS Sports’ Blake Brockermeyer released his latest mock draft, which has Los Angeles making their first pick of next years draft at the 11th spot, predicting the Rams will selecting offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa from the University of Miami, Florida. “Mauigoa is a thick and powerful right tackle who could move to any position on the offensive line except left tackle. He’s strong at the point of attack in the run game and maintains a solid anchor against power,” Brockermeyer wrote. Selecting an offensive lineman, especially a right tackle, will be beneficial for the future of the LA Rams, with the aging long time Ram, Rob Havenstein, who is 33 years old, possibly retiring in the next couple of seasons. Havenstein is currently dealing with an ankle and knee injury and has been placed on injured reserve. Mauigoa will be 21 by the start of the 2026 season and will have plenty of time to form chemistry with the Matthew Stafford and the future quarterback of the organization. The lineman has only allowed on sack on the season and has the ability to eliminate any opposing team’s best rusher. Brockermeyer lists Francis Mauigoa as the number player at his position in the mock draft. Rams Select Offensive Weapon With Second First Round Pick The Los Angeles Rams currently have two of the best performing wide receivers in the league this season with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, but both of those players contracts expire at the end of the 2026 season. Nacua is on the third year of his rookie deal and Adams is in his first year of a two year contract with the team. If the Rams do not lockdown Puka with a big contract, LA will not have any long term wide receivers on the squad. Brockermeyer predicts the Rams will select wide receiver Denzel Boston from the University of Washington with the 31st overall pick of his mock draft, giving LA a youthful option. “Boston is a long and fluid receiver who can stretch the field outside and create separation in the slot. He has strong production and is a red-zone threat due to his contested-catch ability,” Brockermeyer wrote for CBS Sports. Boston currently has 730 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns on the season, averaging 11 yards per catch. If the Rams are unable to keep either Puka or Adams on their current contracts, Boston is a good alternative for the organization.

Why is UA enrollment down?

Boasting palm trees, year-round desert heat and world-class research initiatives, the University of Arizona has been sought out by out-of-state, in-state and international students alike. However, the UA has witnessed a significant decrease in enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year due to a variety of factors. In 2024, UA said there were 56, 544 students, with 45, 025 being undergraduates and 11, 519 being graduate students. “Total enrollment is 54, 384, including 43, 294 undergraduates and 11, 090 graduate students,” the UA said in a statement this year. Each category experienced a noticeable decline. International students under the Trump Administration Universities across the country have faced a decrease in enrollment, largely due to the lack of international students coming to the United States under the Trump Administration. “Arizona International enrollment declined slightly to about 3, 309 students following a challenging year for students unable to obtain U. S. visas,” the UA said in this year’s fall census. President Donald Trump has issued multiple executive orders, such as Executive Order No. 14161 titled Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats. This order has significantly expanded the screening and vetting process that international students have to undergo to study in the US. Many students now struggle to obtain student visas, as the administration is delaying and reworking the interview process. Additionally, students have difficulty obtaining appointments at embassies and consulates. Following E. O. 14161, Trump issued a presidential proclamation restricting and limiting the entry of people from 12 countries and partially restricting the entry of people from seven more nations. Additionally, the administration is working to crack down on the duration of these visas, strictly limiting them to 4 years. This requires students to reapply for new visas in order to complete longer programs and comes with yet another wave of uncertainty. Along with the obstacles of simply obtaining a student visa, many international students are discouraged from coming to the United States with the growing risks of deportation even after arrival. This is in light of reports of many students and faculty across the country having their visas revoked for minor offenses. UA budgetary concerns International students and out-of-state students attending UA and other institutions often pay full or increased tuition. Therefore, this lack of international enrollment may contribute to increased budgetary issues for the UA and other universities across the country. It was recently announced that UA’s budget was officially balanced after experiencing a $177 million deficit in 2023. The process of balancing this budget significantly impacted the amount of merit-based aid that was offered to out-of-state students in this past admissions cycle. “Arizona residents make up 62. 5% of the first-year class, up from 52. 7% in 2024,” UA enrollment said in this year’s census. In 2023, UA’s financial action plan also outlined actions implemented in order to address the shortfall, one of these actions being to “rebalance undergraduate non-resident merit aid for new students and eliminate the tuition guarantee in fall 2025 for new students.” New admissions process “The first-year class includes 7, 506 students, returning to traditional enrollment levels after record cohorts between 2022 and 2024,” UA enrollment said this fall. The UA’s record-breaking class was made up of 9, 314 first-year students in 2024, with 52. 7% being in-state, 44% being out-of-state and 3. 3% being international students. The university reported it will not have a rolling admissions process for the upcoming 2025-2026 admissions cycle. This is the first year the university has not practiced rolling admissions and this could potentially impact the coming enrollment trends. UA’s new Early Action admission deadline encourages prospective students to apply before Nov. 1 to be considered for priority admission, merit-based scholarships and admission to W. A. Franke Honors College.

Major Metal Star Hospitalized, Concert Canceled

One popular metalcore band had to cancel a European tour date after its frontman was hospitalized. The Devil Wears Prada’s lead singer Mike Hranica fell ill during the band’s Sunday show in Paris, France and was sent to the hospital. According to the band’s Instagram story, Hranica needed immediate medical help and thus was unable to finish the band’s set. Currently, the band is on tour all across Europe with fellow musical acts Ice Nine Kills and Creeper. The Instagram story also announced the cancellation of the next day’s tour date. “Our deepest apologies to our friends in Vienna as we are unable to make the show tonight. Mike was hospitalized before we could finish our show in Paris, and we’re taking an additional day of rest to prepare for the rest of the tour supporting Ice Nine Kills,” the band wrote. “Mike is recuperating. We promise we’ll be back in Paris and Vienna next year, we appreciate your understanding and look forward to next time around!” There is currently no word on what was ailing Hranica or why he needed to be hospitalized. Just days before his hospitalization, the tour began, and the band posted a celebratory video on their Instagram page. “Rehearsals are done, we don’t stop,” the band wrote. “Night one of the @iceninekills tour across Europe and the UK starts now!” The Devil Wears Prada formed in 2005 in Dayton, Ohio, and has maintained a presence on the rock scene for the past 20 years.
