**Guwahati: New Developments in the Probe into Zubeen Garg’s Mysterious Death**

The ongoing investigation into the death of Assam’s beloved music composer, singer, lyricist, and actor Zubeen Garg has gained new momentum with the dramatic arrests of his manager Siddharth Sharma and North East India Festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta early this morning.

Mahanta was apprehended around midnight at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi shortly after returning from Singapore. Meanwhile, Sharma was reportedly arrested near a toll plaza in Gurugram around 1 a.m. while traveling from Rajasthan to Delhi. Some reports also suggest that Sharma was taken into custody from an apartment in Gurugram.

A convoy of three vehicles, including two buses carrying security personnel, escorted both men to the Magistrate’s House before they were transferred to the CID headquarters for interrogation. Following this, Mahanta and Sharma were flown under police protection to Guwahati where they were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate.

“The investigation will proceed strictly as per the law,” SIT chief M.P. Gupta told the press. He further explained that Mahanta was arrested upon arrival from Singapore at Delhi airport after a lookout circular was issued against him. “The Bureau of Immigration detained him and handed him over to us,” Gupta added.

Regarding Sharma, Gupta revealed that he was tracked down to a location between Rajasthan and Haryana and arrested the previous night. “We have also recovered Zubeen Garg’s mobile phone from Sharma,” he said.

Both Mahanta and Sharma have been remanded in police custody for 14 days as the probe intensifies.

Zubeen Garg passed away in Singapore on September 19, reportedly due to drowning, which plunged the entire state into grief and sorrow. Millions of fans took to the streets to pay homage to the cultural icon. He was cremated with full state honours near Sonapur on September 23.

However, as reports about the mysterious circumstances of his death surfaced, public anger grew, leading to multiple FIRs being filed at various police stations across Assam against the duo, who are suspected of foul play. In response, the Assam government constituted a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly probe the matter.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma assured the public that strict action would be taken if anyone was found guilty.

Reacting to the recent arrests, Garg’s wife Garima expressed faith in the Assam Police. “I want the police to get all the details out of them. Now that the investigation is on, we are hoping the facts will come to light and the law will take its course,” she stated. She added, “All we, and millions of his admirers, want is fast justice.”

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (local time) issued a stark warning about an “invasion” taking place within the country, likening it to threats posed by foreign enemies. ### Candace Owens Claims Tyler Robinson’s Family Disputes Photo Identification

Tyler Robinson was taken into custody on September 13 and was officially charged with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, and obstruction of justice in connection with the shooting. While Robinson has appeared in court twice, conservative commentator Candace Owens claims she spoke to Tyler’s family — and they do not seem to believe he assassinated Kirk.

“The family says that the photo of the young man coming up the stairs, which was shared—that blurry image—is definitely not Tyler Robinson,” Owens shared. “And let me just say, I never thought it looked like him. And neither did you.”

Owens pointed out that Robinson’s “face looks different” than the person shown in the footage, describing the latter’s face as appearing “more narrow” and the person as “seems taller.” She also noted that Robinson has “full lips,” which the person in the image does not, and described Robinson as “broader” than the individual caught on video.

“So, I’m on board with that the person walking up the stairs is not Tyler Robinson,” she reiterated. “Because I feel like it was intentionally blurred. They also never gave us the footage at all because, in order to blur it, they probably needed a static image.”

Owens also claimed it was “very strange” that Lance Twiggs was “immediately… cleared as a suspect” and said she was informed by “other people in the department they wanted to keep that raid very hush hush.”

“They didn’t want anybody to know about the raid,” she said. “There was no mention of the raid. And Lance immediately gets cleared as a suspect. Why?”

The political pundit further alleged that Robinson’s family “felt the apartment was staged,” noting that “a furry bed” was “intentionally” put in his room.

“Almost sort of implying that they’re trying to transfer the attributes of Lance onto Tyler,” she elaborated. “And that’s shady. Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking revelation, senior students at the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) have allegedly forced their juniors to create fake social media accounts and post defamatory content against the institute and Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV).

According to reports, the juniors were also compelled to vandalise hostel property, including CCTV cameras and DVRs.

The institute’s Anti-Ragging Committee initiated an investigation following complaints of alleged ragging. Preliminary findings suggest that final-year students coerced juniors into creating fake Instagram, X, and Facebook accounts. The juniors were instructed to make two to three posts daily targeting the institution.

Sources reveal that the seniors summoned the juniors to a café outside the campus, where they threatened them and issued strict instructions via a WhatsApp group. These instructions detailed the juniors’ conduct in the hostel as well as the content that needed to be posted online.

During the inquiry, mobile phone checks uncovered chat records confirming the seniors’ orders. The committee has identified final-year students Adarsh Makwana, Aditya Sharma, Aman Patel, and Vivek Sharma as the prime accused in this matter.

The Anti-Ragging Committee has recommended recovering damages from the juniors who carried out the vandalism. Meanwhile, the university has decided to file a formal complaint at Bhawarkuan police station over attempts to malign the institution’s reputation.

Philadelphia police are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver of a black Infiniti who is responsible for the fatal hit-and-run death of 77-year-old Dorothea Cathell of West Philadelphia.

The grandmother was killed near 54th and Lancaster while returning from the local ShopRite, where she had purchased a cartful of Halloween decorations. Cathell, a South Philadelphia High School graduate and former hospitality professional according to social media, died Friday evening at Lankenau Medical Center.

Police reported that the driver, who struck Cathell before dropping off a female passenger at a pizza shop located at 56th and Girard Avenue, was driving a Q50 Infiniti. The vehicle is described as having cracked molding on the front bumper and grille, denting on the hood, and a broken windshield.

This incident marks the second hit-and-run involving an elderly person this past weekend, according to authorities. The driver sped off but was later arrested in Mayfair on DUI charges. The victim succumbed to her injuries Saturday at Jefferson Hospital after remaining in critical condition.

In the investigation, it also transpired that the accused has given threats to the public by brandishing the said sickle. However, he has neither assaulted the complainant nor robbed the alleged amount of Rs 4,500 from the shop’s cash box. He has not played an aggravated role in the alleged crime… Mere registration of said crimes would not disentitle him to get the relief of bail in the absence of incriminating evidence against him,” the court said in its order.

The court emphasised the legal principle that **“bail is the rule and jail an exception,”** underscoring that an accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

### Background of the Case

The bail order pertains to a case filed by complainant Neelkumar Divakar, who alleged that on October 21, 2024, after 9 p.m., the accused, Akshay Jadekar, approached his pan stall demanding a cigarette. When Divakar asked him to clear earlier dues, Jadekar allegedly assaulted him with the help of his associates using fists and kicks, and forcibly took Rs 4,500 from the cash box while brandishing a sickle.

One of Jadekar’s associates is also accused of threatening the complainant with a pair of scissors.

### Arrest and Charges

Following the incident, Jadekar and his associates were arrested. The police invoked provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against them after obtaining the necessary approvals.

### Defence by the Accused

Akshay Jadekar, who has been in custody since his arrest on October 24, 2024, maintained his innocence. He claimed to be falsely implicated and denied assaulting the complainant with any weapon.

Jadekar argued that the investigation was complete, the charge sheet had been filed, and there was no risk of him absconding or tampering with evidence if released on bail.

The prosecution opposed the bail plea, contending that Jadekar was the leader of an organised crime syndicate. They argued that releasing him could lead to a repetition of similar offences.

One dead and nine injured in shooting and fire at Michigan church, say police

A gunman opened fire inside a Michigan church during Sunday services before apparently setting the building ablaze, killing at least one person and injuring nine, authorities said. Police later shot the suspect.

Hundreds of people were inside The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township when a 40-year-old man rammed his vehicle into the front door. He then exited the vehicle and started shooting, Police Chief William Renye told reporters.

The suspect is believed to have set the church on fire, Mr. Renye added. Flames and smoke were visible for hours before the blaze was finally extinguished. First responders have since been sifting through the wreckage.

“We do believe we will find some additional victims once we find the area where the fire was,” Mr. Renye said.

Scott Bennett, supervisor of Grand Blanc Township, described the shooting and fire as a tragedy that no one wants to encounter.

Authorities have not yet determined a motive for the shooting or the fire.

The church, surrounded by a parking lot and a large lawn, is located near residential areas and a Jehovah’s Witness church.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her condolences in a statement, saying, “My heart is breaking for the Grand Blanc community. Violence anywhere, especially in a place of worship, is unacceptable.”

The shooting occurred the morning after Russell M. Nelson, the oldest-ever president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, passed away at the age of 101. The next president of the church, widely known as the Mormon church, is expected to be Dallin H. Oaks, following church protocol.
