Chris Hansen Shares What He Saw After ICE Ride-Along Targeting Illegals Who Threaten Children

Chris Hansen, host of the investigative series “Takedown,” appeared Wednesday alongside U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), highlighting the agency’s active efforts to remove “criminals out of this country.” Since the start of President Donald Trump’s second term, the administration has prioritized cracking down on illegal immigration and conducting mass deportations.

“In the last month, we have caught 45 predators seeking to exploit children. Seven of those were for a new investigative series we have going on with ICE ERO [Enforcement and Removal Operations],” Hansen said. “They go out after these people who are here illegally but have also been convicted of crimes against children.”

Hansen recounted a case involving a convicted sex offender from Mexico who lived next to a daycare facility and just three blocks from a school. “And as we’re doing this, anti-ICE protesters are rallying outside ICE headquarters with no idea as to what we just did,” Hansen added.

Fox’s Jesse Watters noted, “The activists don’t like ICE outside of schools.” Hansen responded, “But it’s OK to have a registered sex offender next door to a daycare facility.”

Under Trump’s push for mass deportations, ICE has conducted raids in major cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City—areas often known as “blue cities.” Despite voters in 2024 ranking the border crisis as a top concern under the Biden administration, Democrats have criticized the deportations and defended some illegal immigrants.

In April 2024, Democrats rallied behind alleged MS-13 member Kilmar Abrego Garcia, demanding the administration bring him back to the U.S. after he was deported to El Salvador. While some Democrats showed support for Garcia on social media, others, including Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen, took taxpayer-funded trips to visit him in El Salvador before his return to the United States.

Watters asked Hansen about his experience in the field with ICE and whether agents shared any insights. Hansen said, “They are very happy to have their hard work shown. These are dedicated men and women who are trying to get criminals out of this country. We’re not talking about somebody who didn’t check a box here. We’re talking about criminals.”

He continued, “We watched in New Mexico one early morning as they arrested a man under investigation for sexually assaulting children in the home at the time. And this guy is in the country illegally.” Hansen emphasized the role of ICE agents in protecting children, “the most innocent asset we have in this society,” and noted their pride in the work they do.

Concerns about migrant children under the leadership of former President Joe Biden increased in summer 2024 after whistleblowers such as Tara Rodas testified against the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Rodas brought attention to issues within the Office of Refugee Resettlement, including the vetting of sponsors for migrant children.

In September 2024, the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Inspector General released a report stating that ICE could not “monitor all unaccompanied migrant children” released from the custody of DHS and HHS amid the ongoing border crisis.

Human trafficking experts, including Ali Hopper, President and founder of GUARD Against Trafficking, have continued to raise concerns with lawmakers about missing migrant children and sex trafficking risks in the U.S. In July 2024, Hopper testified before Congress, revealing that the Biden administration allegedly missed 65,000 calls from migrant children to a hotline established to report safety concerns.

Ski Mask Bandit Foiled by Convenience Store Clerk

Security camera footage from the early morning hours reveals a tense confrontation between a store clerk and a man dressed entirely in black near the entrance of the store. The video shows the clerk raising his arm while keeping a safe distance from the suspect, who appears to be holding a knife-like object.

According to police reports, the man entered the store around 3 a.m. Without saying a word, he pointed what looked like a kitchen knife at the male clerk and demanded money. The clerk responded by shouting loudly, which startled the suspect and caused him to flee the scene without taking any cash.

At the time of the incident, the store was empty except for the clerk, who was unharmed. This attempted robbery has raised safety concerns among residents in the surrounding neighborhood.

One local resident shared their worries: “There aren’t many streetlights in the area, so we’ve installed security cameras ourselves, fearing something like this might happen one day.”

The suspect escaped on a motorcycle and remains at large. Police are currently reviewing security camera footage and continuing their search for the individual. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.

NDA cadet found dead in hostel room in Pune; cops suspect suicide

A first-term cadet of the National Defence Academy (NDA) was found dead in his hostel room at the premier military training institute in Pune early on Friday, news agency PTI reported. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide.

The cadet’s family has alleged that harassment by seniors drove him to take the extreme step. Following the incident, a court of inquiry has been ordered by the NDA to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to police, the cadet was found dead by his batchmates after he failed to report for morning training. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, but initial findings suggest suicide, a police officer stated.

The 18-year-old cadet hailed from Lucknow and came from a family with an armed forces background. His father and uncle have served in the army, PTI reported.

Everything appeared normal until he recently complained to his mother about harassment by some seniors. After these complaints, the family took the matter to the authorities at the academy. His mother and grandmother visited the NDA before Navratri to raise concerns about the issue. The NDA authorities responded and assured them that appropriate action would be taken, according to the cadet’s maternal uncle.

The uncle further revealed that the cadet had spoken to his mother on Thursday afternoon and seemed normal during the call. “He spoke to his mother in the afternoon, but it seems something happened later in the evening as there was some party there. It seems something happened during the party which made him very sad and prompted him to take the extreme step,” he said.

He also mentioned that the cadet was disturbed by the alleged harassment and had expressed thoughts of discontinuing his training. “He used to say that he did not want to continue at the academy,” he added.

In an official statement, the NDA confirmed the cadet’s death and said an inquiry has been initiated.

“A first-term cadet died in the early hours of Friday. He was found in lifeless condition in his cabin by fellow cadets after he failed to report for the day’s training. He was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital, Khadakwasla, where he was declared dead at 6:30 am,” the statement read.

The NDA added that the cadet’s family and local police had been informed, and a court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. Police confirmed that further investigation is underway.

ED Targets Drug Trafficking Network, Searches 8 Mumbai Sites To Track Illicit Proceeds

**Mumbai: Enforcement Directorate Conducts Raids in Drug Trafficking Money Laundering Probe**

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted search operations at eight locations across Mumbai, including Dongri, Mazgaon, Worli, and adjoining areas. These premises are linked to a money laundering investigation targeting a suspected drug trafficking network allegedly operated by Faisal Javed Shaikh and his wife, Alfiya Faisal Shaikh.

According to officials, the searches are being carried out under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, aiming to trace the alleged proceeds of crime generated from the sale of narcotics.

### Background of the Case

Faisal Javed Shaikh, a resident of Dongri, was previously arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in 2023 in a case connected to the Dawood Ibrahim syndicate. Investigators have described him as a pivotal figure in Mumbai’s illicit drug trade, particularly in Dongri and nearby areas, with international links to global trafficking networks and operational ties to the D-Company.

Shaikh is accused of procuring MD (mephedrone, colloquially called ‘meow meow’) from Salim Dola, a notorious drug kingpin and one of India’s most wanted narcotics traffickers. Dola, reportedly operating from abroad, is believed to be the financial and operational backbone behind several cross-city and international drug syndicates.

### About Salim Dola and His Network

Investigations reveal that Salim Dola has established a vast network for supplying synthetic drugs, particularly mephedrone, across multiple states including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. His operations encompass drug manufacturing, large-scale distribution, and laundering of proceeds through complex financial channels.

Dola is wanted by multiple Indian law enforcement agencies, and Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice against him. Meanwhile, the NCB has announced a reward for credible information leading to his arrest.

Officials stated that Dola played a key role in supplying narcotics, including mephedrone, to Faisal Shaikh’s network. Furthermore, Dola’s international contacts enabled the syndicate to source drugs and launder proceeds through offshore channels.

### Recent Arrests Targeting the Syndicate

The ED’s ongoing probe forms part of a comprehensive investigation into the financial framework of Shaikh’s operations, focusing on tracing illicit fund flows and identifying beneficiaries of the money laundering network.

In a significant breakthrough, Taher Salim Dola, son of kingpin Salim Dola, was arrested in Abu Dhabi in January 2025. Following coordinated efforts by the CBI, Interpol, and UAE authorities, he was deported to India. On June 13, 2025, he was handed over to Mumbai Police and is currently in judicial custody, facing charges related to a synthetic drug manufacturing facility in Sangli, Maharashtra. Authorities seized 126.14 kg of mephedrone at this location, valued at approximately Rs 252 crore.

In a parallel operation, Mustafa Mohammad Kubbawala, Dola’s nephew and a key supplier of raw materials for mephedrone production, was arrested in Dubai in May 2025. He was deported to India on July 11, 2025, following a coordinated effort by the CBI and NCB-Abu Dhabi. Both arrests mark important steps in dismantling the syndicate’s global narcotics operations.

### Faisal Shaikh’s Involvement and Legal Proceedings

Investigators have also established Shaikh’s direct involvement in large-scale trafficking of narcotics, including mephedrone and cocaine. Notable seizures linked to him include:

– 68 grams of mephedrone in 2017
– 20 kg of mephedrone in 2023
– 940 grams of cocaine in 2024

In 2025, authorities invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against Shaikh. Pursuant to a detention order issued by the Joint Secretary (PIT-NDPS), Government of India, on March 26, 2025, Shaikh was transferred from Arthur Road Prison, Mumbai, to Puzhal Central Prison, Chennai, to prevent contact with his associates in Mumbai.

NCB investigations also uncovered extensive assets linked to Shaikh’s network, including cash, gold, silver, and immovable properties valued at Rs 6.40 crore. These assets were frozen under the NDPS Act during 2023–24.

### Role of Alfiya Faisal Shaikh

Alfiya Faisal Shaikh, wife of Faisal Shaikh, is reportedly involved in the financial operations of the network. While her specific role remains under investigation, her inclusion in the ED raids indicates active participation in laundering proceeds from drug sales.

### Ongoing Enforcement Directorate Operations

Officials said that the ED’s ongoing search operations focus on mapping the financial architecture of Shaikh’s network and identifying beneficiaries of its laundering activities. The ED operation is currently underway, and authorities have yet to disclose details of any seizures or arrests resulting from today’s raids.

Mumbai Police Crime Branch Unit-8 Bust Interstate E-Commerce Barcode Fraud Racket, Seize ₹45 Lakh Goods; 3 Accused Arrested

**Mumbai Police Bust Interstate Fraud Racket Involving Barcode Swapping on E-Commerce Deliveries**

Mumbai: The Mumbai Police Crime Branch Unit-8 has successfully busted an interstate fraud racket that was duping e-commerce companies by cleverly swapping barcodes on delivery boxes.

**Accused Details**
The accused have been identified as:
– Pankajkumar Hariram Jindal (32), a farmer from Kasba Survachain, Sirsa, Haryana
– Vijaykumar Mahendrasing Saharan (32), a driver from Rampura, Post Thana, Taluka Hansi, District Hisar, Haryana
– Shamsher Singh Raghuveer Alan (32), a farmer from Rampura, Post Thana, Taluka Hansi, Hisar, Haryana
– Sumantkumar Dauram Sahu (29), a driver and delivery worker from Ranbod, Ward No. 8, Taluka Nawagarh, Bemetara, Chhattisgarh

**Modus Operandi of the Gang**
According to police sources, the gang operated in collusion with delivery personnel to manipulate the delivery process. They would place multiple online orders for both expensive and inexpensive items. The criminals removed the barcode sticker from the costly product and pasted it onto the cheaper item.

Later, when the delivery arrived, they would refuse to accept the expensive item, claiming it was an “incorrect order.” As a result, the e-commerce platform would issue a refund for the costly product. Meanwhile, the fraudsters retained the expensive item, effectively pocketing the refund amount.

This tactic caused huge financial losses to various e-commerce companies.

**Trap and Arrests**
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team laid a trap in Borivali on October 6 and caught three accused red-handed swapping barcodes inside a delivery tempo.

Investigation revealed that two of the accused are residents of Haryana, while the third is from Chhattisgarh.

**Seizure and Custody**
Police seized goods worth ₹45 lakh from the accused, including electronic items valued at ₹34 lakh. Additionally, a Tata tempo worth ₹7 lakh and a Hyundai car valued at ₹4 lakh were confiscated.

All three accused were produced in court and subsequently remanded to police custody until October 13. The Mumbai Police are continuing their investigation to identify other gang members and insiders within the delivery chain who may be involved in this scam.

Illegal crossings at U.S.-Mexico border plummet to lowest annual level since 1970

Unlawful crossings along the U.S.-Mexico border in fiscal year 2025 plummeted to the lowest annual level since the early 1970s, amid the Trump administration’s sweeping clampdown on illegal immigration, internal federal statistics obtained by CBS News show.

U.S. Border Patrol agents recorded nearly 238,000 apprehensions of migrants crossing the southern border illegally in fiscal year 2025, which began in October of last year and ended on Sept. 30, according to preliminary Department of Homeland Security data that has not been previously reported.

The number is the lowest annual tally recorded by Border Patrol since fiscal year 1970, when the agency reported roughly 202,000 apprehensions along the U.S.-Mexico border, historical figures indicate.

It also represents a seismic change from the record-high levels of Border Patrol apprehensions recorded under the Biden administration, which faced an unprecedented humanitarian crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. In fiscal year 2022, Border Patrol made 2.2 million apprehensions—a record—and almost 10 times the levels recorded in 2025.

More than 60% of the apprehensions made by Border Patrol in fiscal year 2025 along the U.S.-Mexico border were recorded in the last full three months of the Biden administration, the preliminary data shows. (Government fiscal years start in October and end in September, often spanning different administrations.)

Over President Trump’s first full eight months in office, Border Patrol agents assigned to the southern border have recorded fewer than 9,000 apprehensions each month—a number that the agency recorded in 24-hour periods during some days under former President Joe Biden.

The internal DHS figures show Border Patrol made nearly 8,400 apprehensions at the U.S.-Mexico border in September 2025, an increase from 6,300 in August and 4,600 in July, which was a monthly record low.

Border Patrol apprehensions denote the number of times agents intercepted and processed migrants entering the country between official ports of entry, which is illegal. Some migrants can be counted multiple times if they attempt to enter the U.S. more than once after being turned back to Mexico.

In a statement, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said, “President Trump has overwhelmingly delivered on his promise to secure our Southern Border. As a result, Americans are safer; unvetted criminal illegal aliens and dangerous drugs are no longer pouring over our border unchecked.”

Jackson added, “And for all the Democrats who claimed it was impossible to secure the border or that they needed new policy, turns out all we needed was a new President. A new normal.”

Ariel Ruiz Soto, an analyst at the Migration Policy Institute—a nonpartisan think tank based in Washington—noted that illegal border crossings began to fall sharply in the summer of 2024, after the Biden administration enacted strict limits on asylum. But he said the Trump administration had set “a new normal” for migration flows in just a few months.

Ruiz Soto explained that the Trump administration’s stringent policies at the border and inside the U.S. “have had a significant effect on people being deterred from coming illegally to the United States.”

Soon after Mr. Trump took office for a second time, his administration moved to seal and militarize the southern border, closing down the American asylum system using emergency powers, dispatching thousands of soldiers to repel illegal crossings, and shutting down Biden-era programs that allowed some migrants to enter the U.S. legally.

While parts of the asylum ban have been curtailed and declared illegal by courts, the Trump administration has virtually ended the practice of releasing migrants who cross into the U.S. illegally, deporting them quickly or holding them in detention while their cases are reviewed.

Beyond the border, the Trump administration has staged highly publicized operations targeting those living in the U.S. illegally, dispatching teams of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers and Border Patrol agents across the country with the objective of overseeing a deportation campaign of unprecedented proportions.

The crackdown has not been without controversy. The administration’s border policies have been denounced as inhumane, draconian, and illegal by groups like the American Civil Liberties Union, which has challenged them in federal court on the grounds that they are at odds with U.S. and international asylum law as well as the Constitution.

The federal immigration raids well beyond the border have also triggered significant backlash, particularly in major American cities like Chicago and Los Angeles, where large-scale protests have erupted.

National and local Democrats have decried the raids as indiscriminate and overly harsh, accusing the Trump administration of not solely focusing on deporting violent offenders.

Citing confrontations and instances of violence, Mr. Trump in recent days has ordered National Guard troops to deploy to Chicago and Portland, Oregon, to protect immigration agents and facilities there. A federal judge has so far blocked the plan to send National Guard units to Portland.

Amid the national debate over immigration enforcement, those living along the southern border say there’s no denying the reality on the ground has changed markedly.

John Martin said his network of shelters in the Texas border city of El Paso housed hundreds of migrants during spikes in illegal crossings under the Biden administration. On Monday, he said his organization was not housing a single migrant, stating he has received “little to no” new arrivals who are not local homeless residents in recent months.

He attributed this change to Mr. Trump’s crackdown.

“If the goal is to decrease the number of individuals, I would say that appears to have been successful, without getting into the politics about whether or not I like it or dislike it,” Martin said. “We’re just simply not seeing the people.”
