Israel’s Army Advances Preparations for First Phase of Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan Amid Rising Death Toll
Israel’s military announced on Saturday that it would advance preparations for the initial phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza and facilitate the return of all remaining hostages, according to news agency AP. This development comes as the death toll in Gaza surpasses 67,000.
According to the Israeli military, forces have been instructed to enhance readiness for implementing the plan. An official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that Israel has shifted to a defensive-only position in Gaza and will not conduct active strikes, although no troops have been withdrawn from the territory.

Protests continue across Europe, including tens of thousands marching in Barcelona on Saturday, with demonstrations planned in Italy and Portugal. For Palestinians in Gaza, uncertainty persists. Thousands have fled Gaza City, now a focus of Israel’s latest offensive, while families of hostages remain cautious.
Yehuda Cohen, whose son Nimrod is held in Gaza, expressed cautious optimism: “We’re putting our trust in Trump because he’s the only one who’s doing it. We want to see him with us until the last step.”

NEW YORK — Police found two teenage girls dead atop a train car at a Brooklyn subway station early on October 4. Authorities say the deaths are likely related to subway surfing, a dangerous trend that involves climbing on top of moving train cars.
At approximately 3:10 a.m., New York City police officers responded to a 911 call at the Marcy Avenue subway station. Upon arrival, officers discovered two unidentified girls unconscious and unresponsive on top of a J train. According to local news reports, the train had just crossed the Williamsburg Bridge from Manhattan into Brooklyn. First responders pronounced both girls dead at the scene, the NYPD confirmed.

The NYPD began tracking subway surfing in 2022 when the trend first emerged. According to NYPD data, at least three people died due to subway surfing in 2025. In 2024, six deaths were reported, and five people died from the activity in 2023.
In response, city and state officials launched a public information campaign in 2023 titled *Subway Surfing Kills: Ride Inside, Stay Alive*, aiming to deter youth from engaging in the dangerous behavior. Additionally, New York City has filed lawsuits against five social media companies, citing harm to youth mental health and highlighting subway surfing as a key example.
The NYPD has also deployed drones to monitor subway lines, while the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) has partnered with social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram to remove videos depicting individuals riding outside of trains. Through June 2025, the MTA reported over 1,800 such videos had been taken down.
Subway stations regularly broadcast announcements warning against subway surfing. Recently, Bronx native and rapper Cardi B lent her voice to public service announcements aimed at promoting subway safety.

Texas football wide receiver Parker Livingstone had to be helped off the field during the Longhorns’ road game against Florida after sustaining an apparent leg injury.
The injury occurred in the second quarter at the conclusion of a 33-yard reception on a second-and-8 play. After catching the pass, Livingstone took a hit to his leg from Florida defensive back Devin Moore. He immediately flipped in the air upon contact and was visibly in pain.
Several Longhorns trainers assisted Livingstone off the field and back to the bench. Once there, he appeared to be limping and showed signs of discomfort.
Before exiting, Livingstone had made his second catch of the game, a reception of at least 14 yards. He currently leads all Texas receivers with two catches for 47 yards, as Texas trails Florida 19-7 in the second quarter.
### Parker Livingstone Injury Update
Livingstone’s leg injury happened near his kneecap area as he made the impressive 33-yard catch downfield. The hit from the Florida defender was significant enough to cause him to flip in the air and forced his early departure from the game.

Discord, the popular communication platform, has confirmed a data breach involving one of its third-party customer service providers. An “unauthorized party” accessed data from a limited number of users who had contacted Discord’s Customer Support and/or Trust & Safety teams. While the attacker attempted to extort a financial ransom from Discord, they did not gain direct access to the platform itself.

The breach exposed usernames, email addresses, and the last four digits of users’ credit card numbers. Additionally, a small number of government-issued ID photos were accessed. These photos belonged to users who had appealed an age determination on Discord.
Importantly, Discord clarified that full credit card numbers and passwords were **not** affected by this incident. Users whose ID photos were possibly accessed will receive specific notification from Discord.
